Hi all, thanks so muck for all your posts, i think i speak for all the once new-users of susan's and the first time you get your reply posts it really feels odd that all these people care about what happens to me, thankyou very much, so i will go with yall, although there's a twist, like with everything with me. I am staying in the uk though i am not allowed to work until my european passport comes through (12-18 months) thus i can't use the nhs health to help me coz i should have waited outside the country but i was not prepared to go back to my home country, SA coz they are still very very very ignorant...
So to compremise i though if i could ask yall what you have been or could have been presribed, yess, NO DOSES PEOPLE, OOOH I love susan's so much, in my scenario which is
just turned 21 on 3rd dec
male to female
want's best choice in an anti-adrogen
which eastrogen and which app method works best

then my local gp and i talked and she looked at her contract and we found a loophole, she is under the health abliged to monitor my health at my request but can and wil not give any advice on grounds of which hormones AA etc, she is also allowed to tell me to decrease any dosages i am taken though not to increase, basically anything that could risk a patients life she is not allowed,, so if you yall could help me please, i don't want to turn into a man, realy so far i have remained very slim tall and with the aboslute minimum facial hair in anycase, i realy think doctors should be doing only that cox when it comes to which hormons feels en appears to oneself to wrk best is really best left up to the people that feel all the emotions involved in such a person life
so yes i will self medicate but not in the strict sense of the owrd, at first we will meet every thursday and after 1 1/2 months 1 a month
so please my dear mear friends, help me, i can see it day by day in the mirror how my femininity is destroyed by thos horrible androgens binding to my cells, help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 :embarrassed:

Hi Cathren,

I am glad you have spoken to your GP and it essential that you use her to monitor your health.

The first thing to do is get your baseline blood levels measured and to ensure your liver is OK, she should be able to arrange this.

In terms of anti-androgens there are a few to choose from. Cyperoterone Acetate (Androcur) is commonly used within Europe and Spironolactone is also used. Please bear in mind that they are used primarily for other uses (such as cancer treatment) and have side effects (Spiro is a diauretic and can also affect Potasium levels).

There is a greater choice of Estrogens, which can be natrurally ocurring or synthetically modified estrogens. Those that are Chemically altered (Such as Ethinyl Estradiol) are extremely potent and are taken at a much lower dose than the naturally occuring estrogens.

They are also available in the UK as Oral Tablets or Patches at varying strengths. Injections are much less common in the UK, but are available outside of the UK.

In terms of Safety, Patches are the safest as the dose is released over time and is absorbed through the skin directly into the blood stream, Oral tablets absorbed through the stomach end up with a fair amount of the active ingredient going through the Liver, which increases the risk of problems.

Without an anti-androgen the effect of Estrogen is diminished as it is swamped by the level of Testosterone in the body.

I hope that helps, but PLEASE ensure you do have your blood monitored on a regular basis and ALWAYS read the safety and side effects (contra- indications) on any medicines you take. My pre-op hormone regime was changed twice during transition in response to blood parameters.
