At its 33rd annual Diversity Conference, held Wednesday in Los Angeles, Kaiser Permanente presented an award to JoAnne Keatley (pictured), who works to fight HIV among minority Californians.

Keatley, a member of the California State Office of AIDS Latino Advisory Board, is the project director of Health Studies for People of Color at the University of California, San Francisco. Keatley was honored with one of Kaiser's National Diversity HIV/AIDS awards for her work leading a team of researchers, students, and outreach workers in fighting HIV as well as for her status as a transgender Latina role model.
