Does insurance cover T and...?

I was wondering if insurance covers T. Also, this is a completely different topic, but when the time comes to have kids, I plan to use my eggs and a sperm donor and get a surrogate mother. I'm just wondering how much that whole process will cost.

Basically the cost of the whole transition including top surgery. I'm still thinking about bottom surgery. Also legally changing your name. How much does that cost?

Insurance is different by state, by contracts and an assortment of reasons.  Under my wife's insurance transgender stuff is excluded...however I have switched over to my employers insurance and my trans stuff is completely covered as long as the doctor codes it as a medical necessity.  Most doctors know who work with trans can figure out how to get around insurance -- for example my son's psych. billed for adjustment disorder instead of GID.... women can get T proscribed for low sex drive ... so getting insurance to cover is a matter of advocating and knowing what your insurance will cover.  Know your insurance - ask questions etc.

As for legally changing names ... it depends on your state .. but you can also get your court cost waived

As for using your eggs...everyone is different if whether or not your eggs will be viable after starting T...plus who knows what the future will bring and how much it will cost

My insurance covers my T but not all insurances do.

As for freezing your eggs, using a sperm donor and getting a surrogate mother expect to pay mad money. A guy I work with's daughter did something like that. She used another woman's eggs (I guess hers are bad), her husband's sperm, had the eggs artificially insemenated then planted in her. The cost- $48,000.

It would probably cost even more with a surrogate mother. You usually pay them for it plus cover all medical costs and cover some other expenses. This is why you see this done mostly by rich people.

$48,000?!!! Oy. I've heard getting a surrogate mother can cost just around that price too. So then. Heh. I better find a way to get rich.
