When a marginalized community tells you repeatedly that a word is offensively hurtful to it, it is the height of willful disrespect for you as alleged allies to continue to try to justify using the term that pisses them off and shows that you didn't respect them in the first place.

Maybe it's cause I'm Icelandic, and there aren't exactly many words here that are "bad words".
I mean, we curse openly 'round our children even. No one washes anyone's mouth out with soap.
Stuff like that...

But, well,...
I don't see how "a word" can be offensive unless it's spoken with intent to offend, or unless the offended person chooses to be offended.
In and of itself, a word has no power other than what people "choose" to give to it.

I am an advocate for political correctness. I wish there were more who were.

We should never think it is okay to use a derogatory slur against someone. We are intelligent beings and are able to use other words. Why use the word ni**er, ->-bleeped-<-, etc when there are PLENTY of other words to use instead? How is a person to know if the one who used the slur is being mean or not? Are we supposed to ask them? Isn't it easier and more civil to simply use a more humane word? I don't see what the problem is.

I'm all for using the "correct" term, but I think that advocating using the "nice" term just to avoid offending someone is ridiculous.
As such, "->-bleeped-<-" is an incorrect term and would much rather see the use of something more correct.

To be perfectly blunt, an objection to an arbitrary word is a ridiculous and archaic notion. People who insist on it and worse, insist on the rest of us conforming, are dragging us back to antiquity and should be mocked and ignored.

As for there being plenty of other words, sure, but why should a handful be verboten even to people who aren't offended by and consider it petty to be offended by them? If you're offended it's your problem, not the rest of society's.

Can you please clarify who is supposed to be mocked and ignored? Thanks
