I've met Kate on several occasions.  I've read a couple of her books.

I don't take her all that seriously.  I feel about her being some important trans-theorist about the same way I feel about John Stewart being some sort of serious political commentator.

Which is to say that both are performers.  John a comedian and Kate a performance artist.

I don't take either of them seriously.  and currently I am pissed off with both of them.
