I just did a quick search for the movie and little is revealed, other than it's supposed to be a comedy.
Yeah, a guy in a dress. That's always good for a laugh.
I wouldn't be surprised if Perlman's character plays some sort of homicidal maniac and kills a lot of people...
...but in a funny way.
It's sure to be a laugh riot.
Honest to all that is goodness, when will it STOP being FUNNY to portray trans and gays as deranged and demented?
I doubt that Perlman did any background study for his character development to understand transwomen. According to the article he concentrated on having his body shaved and what a LOVELY manicure and pedicure he had. If that is all he did is concentrate on his costume, then I'm sure his performance will be predictably shallow and unremarkable. A pity, though, because in his other roles I did admire his acting. What brought him to my attention is his performance as the mentally challenge hunchback in "The Name of the Rose". It was touching and heartbreaking when he was tortured just because of his difference. Something I am not expecting to see in this indie flick!
I give it -2 stars.
