HELLBOY star RON PERLMAN is set to shock fans by playing a transsexual former convict in oddball new movie FRANKIE GOES BOOM.

The movie star insists he makes a very ugly woman, who changed her name from Phil to Phyllis, in the film - but he had a great time in drag.

Perlman tells WENN, "I'm wearing a dress, a wig, I had my legs, chest and arms shaved. I had a beautiful pedicure and a lovely manicure, and I was the ugliest woman you've ever seen in your life, which is why I took the job.
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." Oscar Wilde

Great - this is just what we needed ::) .

Then again, Perlman is pretty damn ugly out of drag, too. Can't imagine he'd look any worse in this role.

"They offered me two different roles and I went for the transsexual because I felt like when the door opens and you see that it's me, it should get a 'Yuck!'"

.... String of expletives goes here.

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

I just did a quick search for the movie and little is revealed, other than it's supposed to be a comedy.

Yeah, a guy in a dress.  That's always good for a laugh.

I wouldn't be surprised if Perlman's character plays some sort of homicidal maniac and kills a lot of people...

...but in a funny way.

It's sure to be a laugh riot.

Honest to all that is goodness, when will it STOP being FUNNY to portray trans and gays as deranged and demented?

I doubt that Perlman did any background study for his character development to understand transwomen.  According to the article he concentrated on having his body shaved and what a LOVELY manicure and pedicure he had.  If that is all he did is concentrate on his costume, then I'm sure his performance will be predictably shallow and unremarkable.  A pity, though, because in his other roles I did admire his acting.  What brought him to my attention is his performance as the mentally challenge hunchback in "The Name of the Rose".  It was touching and heartbreaking when he was tortured just because of his difference.  Something I am not expecting to see in this indie flick!

I give it -2 stars.

So is this a blockbuster release or will it get a straight to DVD along with a whole range of negative reviews with 0-20% scores? *crosses fingers*?

well the movie will get what it deserves when Rotten Tomatoes and others slams it.

They should just make another Hellboy movie with Del Toro directing.  That would be a winner.
