Open Door starts Humboldt's first transgender health clinic

The transgender community will have access to a new health clinic specifically designed with their needs in mind.

The result of a partnership between Humboldt County transgender advocates and Bay Area agencies, the Humboldt Open Door Clinic is launching a once-a-month transgender health clinic Tuesday.

The clinic is dedicating health services on the first Tuesday of the month from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. for those in the transgender community.

Please allow me to say how proud I am of the efforts of all on this council. It has been a privilege to be a part of this effort! That we were afforded an opportunity to bring the reality of a Trans Health Clinic in little bitty ol' Humboldt County is a true honor. Lyon- Martin Health Services and Transgender Law Center are two absolutely invaluable organizations to the trans community!

The Open Door Clinic administrators and personnel that looked at, analyzed and finally determined that there was significant need for these services are also to be commended. By them putting forth the efforts of training to themselves  and their staff speaks volumes as the the quality of character for this organization!

We have much more to do!
