I have only taken hormones for a couple months, 3 months in 2002 and 3 months in 2009, I not only feel like a woman now, i feel like my body changes with emotions i carry and feelings I have about wanting to be a female.
I have hips, small breast I even have a sexy lower back arch,I dont think hormones caused all this with little time that I was on them, My sisters even comment on  my butt, and hips and body,  glad and proud to feel this way, but is it possible for your body to change with your brain feeling like a woman? I hope this is not to strange but i feel it...please reply with imput

Short answer: no, I really doubt it.  I got those same changes within 3 months of hormones.

The brain has an incredible sway over the body. Look at the relationship with stress and immune response, or incidence of cancers. A massive portion of disease and symptoms are psychosomatic. With this in mind, I would consider it a possibility.

A very strong caveat- I strongly doubt there is any way to validate that hypothesis with any sort of concrete empirical data given today's methods and means. There are far too many confounding variables.

The brain and your soul are definitely a component and can cause change, but HRT is the catalyst and a requirement to render the building blocks.  I would say that both are required.

I doubt that your emotions alone can do the work - or else what would be the point of all the money transgirls spend to modify their bodies - but I have wondered if some psychosomatic symptoms arise.  Especially since coming out my nipples have been more sensitive, I have had a stronger sense of smell, and I have had to pee constantly.  However... that's probably just in my head :P

If emotions could do all that, I would not be where I am now.  :-\

Flux, it seriously sounds like you are on HRT. If you are not, it's probably just your mind, and you're looking for changes which might not be there. I'm not going to judge though, it's your body, I don't inhabit it. You're the judge! What you are saying is interesting though.

no... That's not how it works however if you have a positive attitude with alot of confidence you tend to see good things in the mirror compared to not

@In Limbo... ~ I'm not on hormones, and I do pretty much assume that all this stuff is just in my head... it's encouraging though :) even if it's just my perception.

@samantha1976ts ~ I do think that to a point your emotions do make some small changes, especially in the way you perceive things, but your big physical changes are almost definitely due to the hormones you were on.  For some people the hormones work better than for others; you probably just had a lucky roll of the genetic dice. :)

That guy sounds like he didn't want to be a woman at all, so it wasn't his emotions causing the changes.  Although there were odd amounts of estrogen in his system, they weren't caused by any wish for him to become a woman, but by some physical anomaly.

There is a woman either on this site or the other one I go on who has mentioned this happening to her.

I would love for that to happen to me... she had never been on hormones or anything? :O

Spontaneous transition, which I have heard of before on another trans forum, now defunct, can save a lot of money, aggravation, and time.  I put my vote into the cosmos for my voice to change spontaneously to a normal female one first while I sleep along with all my hair back.  :)  The second night, well...

I believe that the brain can cause great changes.  But to alter the body to the other gender would be a miracle.  It is possible that the body develop the ability to create the other hormone.

But the brain can modify the mannerisms to the other gender.

It is not that impossible.  All the brain would have to do is to modify one organ or add another, and then that organ can do the rest.  For instance, the brain could spontaneously create part of an ovary, which would create estrogen.  That would then cause all the other changes.

I'd say that when you're feeling more positive towards yourself and your situation, you're more likely to notice the more positive aspects of your physical self.
It's not that your body's changing with emotion, it's that your emotions are allowing you to realize what you've had all along.

What a LYING scumbag that's total bull->-bleeped-<- seriously, If you can't even confess to what your doing.

So many inconsistencies.
1: They don't pass at all, Yet you can see that they've tried Eyebrows, makeup, Wig ect
2: They claim they don't want to transition and that they don't want to be female. despite point 1.

I don't know of any inter-sex condition which would produce large levels of male hormones up until age 45 then stop and subsequently start producing large levels of female hormones. They'd all cause Testicular failure and that would be that, maybe a small level of endogenous estrogen's

Natural, What a crock sureeee ¬.¬ And I'm a DD.

No your mind can't otherwise my body would have changed when I was a child.

I've heard of FtMs that stop menstruating before they go on HRT for psychological reasons.
