4$ walmart prescriptions?

So, I'm seeing a free clinic for HRT, and when I called and made my appointment a month ago, they were telling me the costs (or lack thereof) and she said that whenever possible they try to use the Walmart 4$ prescription service. I was boggled out of my mind, because I thought that HRT drugs weren't on that plan? So I went home and looked it up and lo and behold, there it was, well, the MTF spectrum of things, T wasn't listed of course. It listed the few ones I know the names of (I still need to edumacate myself on this) like Spiro and various forms of Estrogen.

Can I get a confirmation on this whole 4$ biz? Because Elaine and I are rather poor and all, I'm always willing to save a couple bucks (or a couple hundred!). I'd put this in the HRT section but sometimes responses take longer there :/

target has the same $4 plan, although in both (that and walmonster) you're restricted to the dosages and quantity that are covered (unless you pay $4 x whatever).

Yes, other pharmacies have generic drugs at knock-down rates.
For standard strengths, it's $4 for a month's supply or $10 for a 90 day supply.

The only bug is you may have to use two "one month supplies" in one month and pay 2 x $4 = $8 for it.
Or you may even use a "90 day supply" in one month and pay $10 for it.

I know someone who pays $18 per month for all their generics.

Of course, this does you absolutely no good when you are talking about testosterone.

Testosterone gel (the most expensive kind of testosterone) for hypogonadal men runs about $300 per month.
Injectable testosterone is much cheaper.

I get 60 estradiol at walmart for 8 bucks. It's the generic estrace or something like that. The sprio is what was expensive, like almost 90 bucks because I don't have insurance.

It occurs that those in the US who want a national health care scheme, could start by introducing a national prescription scheme.

All American medical care is higher for those without insurance and poor people can not afford insurance. Middle class people cannot afford insurance without employers helping to foot the bill. $700 for cheap insurance and more likely $1200/month for average insurance, most of which won't cover anything to do with transition and most have a number of other exclusion or pre existing condition clauses. They have ways of getting out of paying by having lifetime limits on payouts but no lifetime limits on premiums. Health insurance companies and litigation laws up the cost of medical care to where only rich people or lucky people can afford to see a dentist or have regular visits to a doctor much less a specialist of any kind.
