The "Grange" and GLBT

I don't know if this is the most appropriate place to post this question, but...

   My best friend, a G girl, just joined the local Grange. I know absolutely nothing about this organization. She faces pressure, sometimes, not to associate with me because I'm Trans, especially from her family and some of her friends. I've felt some distance growing in our friendship.... Should I be worried? Is this a conservative organization? Any info would be helpful.

The grange is ussualy a buncha local farmers and ranchers hanging out and holding comunity events.
By it's nature most grange chapters will be highly conservative.

I would worry.

The Granges are not overtly political as their official policy is to avoid partisan positions.
The Grange used to be a meeting hall for neighborhoods. 

Urban Granges can be more liberal and accepting than more rural ones--not the best
generalization, but the only one to use in this situation.   Right now all granges are
hungry for members.  Polite and Invovled go much further than specific politics.  I have
met grange members from the most liberal union members to the most conservative
sales people.  Your mileage will vary based upon a large number of elements.   

Go in with an open mind and a backup plan.  There are many places that strategy works.
