I REALLY do not wanna put a needle in my body every week or every other week.
I don't really know anyone who likes puting needles in their body, to be honest. Taking the gel is a *daily* commitment. Besides the higher cost, it also affects when you can shower or get wet, and you have to take precautions around other people (women & children particularly) and pets. It is a major hassle. Many people are surprised to discover that gel isn't "apply & go" easy.
What I recommend is that anyone start on injections, and if you don't get used to it, or if it gets increasingly more anxiety-producing for you, then switch to gel.
To desensitize myself, I started watching "how to inject" videos on you tube. It didn't make me great with the process, but I learned to stop cringing, wincing, and looking away, at least. For some reason, my dr. didn't want me self-injecting with my eyes closed. Go figure.

It helped a little. I'm still not at the "doesn't bug me at all" phase yet. I hope to get there soon.
