So as some of you may know my dr is the dr at a planned parenthood about 30 minutes from my house. I saw her september 29th and I got my script took blood etc I started on the october 1rst and saw her again at the end of october. Then she told me to call early january to make a follow up for the end of the month and I tried calling the number and it says the call can not be completed as dialed! What am I going to do? I'm freaking out and omg :( I only have two more refills on my script so what if I never get in touch with the dr? Omg I can't afford a ~real~ dr. She's real but like she saw me for free cuz it's planned parenthood. :( :( :(

First of all "DON"T PANIC".  Double check that you dialed right and if need be look it up in the phone book.  Or online.  If you have to just go there and get the number and make an appointment.

Ok so i finally got through. Jan 31rst! :D Now I feel kinda silly. I don't know why they weren't going through at first. =/

SO...what should I expect on my third appointment? Anything special?

Janet_Girl

They may take blood again and adjust your meds.

Anything special?

Nope, not unless something is wrong. There's not much to the trans branch of endocrinology other than
1. Check bloods.
2. If bloods are normal, then goto 4.
3. If bloods are abnormal, adjust meds. Goto 1.
4. End.

Sounds normal enough. Do you think she'll prescribe progesterone? I heard it helps breast development, but I don't know when she will or if she even will etc. I hope I can afford it fml =/

Is it fairly cheap going through planned parenthood? I had to contact my endo today about an outstanding bill i just recieved because i think they billed the insurance with the wrong code. The bill came from quest diagnostics for $250.83 for bloodwork done last march. The 1st time bloodwork was taken went through just fine.

I think your at the point now where she could prescribe you progesterone, i did after the 1st three months. are you already on t-blockers?

I've been on estradiol and spiro for three months, it'll be four by the time I see her next. And so far for my first two appointments it's been free because of some trans grant that payed. They just asked if I'd like to make a donation towards it. Didn't have the money. I meant I hope I can afford the progesterone though

If the doctor prescribes it for you i don't see why it wouldn't be covered either! I hope everything works out for you!!! Iv'e been fortunate to have excellent insurance that covers everything fairly well. I knoticed that walking into a walgreens or lets just say a drugstore to fill a script is so freakin high, i use this mail order co through my insurance and it's a hell of alot cheaper. The only draw back is waiting right till the end of your supply and reordering. I'm out of fin and spiro right now and it wont be in till friday :(

I have to pay for the meds she prscribes. I can afford the e for 8$ at walmart, but the spiro is ridiculous I get it the cheapest through my friends dad, he buys it for me at a small pharmacy at the lowest price. I don't have insurance though :'(

MyKa

Did i read somewhere that your out west? I could have sworn i heard somewhere that some of the insurance companies out that way are helping with srs. I don't know if this is true or not!

Oh wow, i'm sorry to hear that. It can get quite expensive without insurance. Today my refill on fin/spiro was $3o shipped. My depression meds are the ones that are expensive :'( which i stopped taking 3 months ago for other reasons.

My endo pointed out that progesterone can actually inhibit early breast development and should be left until later on when the breasts are reasonably developed already from E.

Yeah California. I have no idea, I'm oblivious when it comes to insurance except I know I'm not covered by my dads because I'm not a full time student. Who knows though. =/

I'm 3+ years on HRT and only now considering adding progesterone.
However, I have an agreement with my fiancé that if it makes me crazy(ier) that I'm gonna stop taking it  :D
