Middle (Muddled) ground....

Okay...I'm sure everyone has experienced this type of thing but I just find it so amusing that I thought I would share a few recent experiences with ya'll

(A) I was at a (pretty straight) bar and overheard a conversation between a couple (guy/girl) saying that I was a pretty cute girl and then  20 minutes later the bouncer threatened me and called me a ->-bleeped-<-

(B) I went out shopping for (nice, cute) underwear @ a big lingere (sp?) store and within the span of 5 minutes I got Ma'amed twice and Sir'd once!

(C) I dressed up REALLY nice for NYE (skirt, tights, corset shirt) and on my way to the party I got the word "->-bleeped-<-GOT" screamed at me from across the street but walking home the next day some guy tried to pick me up ...ie: "Hey giirrrlll (in a really sexy tone)"

I mean all this stuff is pre-hormones right....so I must be doing something right (haha)... I mean ultimately I would like to get to the point where I'm read as woman the vast majority of the time but I know that is far off in the future so I may as well laugh at the ambiguity now right?

Anyway...it's just something I've been noticing more and more these days!

One moment you can and the next you can't, it can get confusing out there that's for sure.  As Cindi said you don't need mones to pass, but they can help.  It also shows that some folks are more intuitive than others.  I've often thought that those days when I didn't pass or folks had that questioning look in their eye's, that I must be sending out unconscious vibes or signals, who knows.  But it is safe to say that you are going to have good days and bad days, the trick it to take them all is stride.

You know....if this was two or three years ago I think just the idea of "passing" would have freaked me out because I was in such self-denial/self-hatred....and yeah...I mean I'm at the VERY VERY VERY begining of my transition period so I figure I should laugh about it...but you know if I'm still getting MA'AMed & SIRed at a rate of 50-50 five years down the road than I may not be able to laugh as much....but since I'm just starting out well I mean...cmon!

Oh geez, I get read all the time, but it's really never been a problem for me. I don't care if they don't see me as a woman, I just expect to be seen and treated as a person. I'm courteous and friendly to everyone I come in contact with, and I pretty much always get the same back in return. I used to worry about how I was being taken by others, but I realized that I have no control over other people's thoughts or reactions, so I stopped letting it bother me. I will say this however...I find it totally unnecessary for someone to call me sir, I think they do it to take a little stab at me. Don't want to call me ma'am? Fine, keep quiet, I don't care...but when I do get sirred I make sure to give them a great big smile, and I tell them to have a nice day, even when I don't mean it.
Anyway Pat, it's all about attitude, and it sure looks like you've got a good one, so keep on smiling!
