Just a bit of info regarding gender designation on government documents.  Aside from your birth certificate and your SIN info, make sure you update your info with the Canada Revenue Agency.  On a whim, I forwarded copies of my updated documents along with a request for information asking them to make sure their records reflect my updated birth records and to forward proof of the changes of both my SIN info and my CRA info.  I received a phone call this morning telling me that they have amended my gender designation as requested and will be sending me copies of my records.  Below is the contact info for the CRA.  You can email copies of your documents as I did and you may have to follow up with a second email a couple of weeks later--maybe their servers don't like attachments.
