For simplicity, here's a quick definition of how to apply "full time" for the poll:
* - Being dressed as your target gender either for the majority of your day (and in public), or all day.
- Desiring to be referenced as your target gender by those around you

For the most part I'm just curious; but it will also help me make some decisions.

Feel free to discuss the poll if you wish. If you just want to vote, that's fine too :)

You may want to expand your poll choices. I was not full time for 5 years after starting hormones. Many of us who transition later in life need time to sort out our personal lives and commitments.

Also, HRT works more slowly the older you are, at least generally so. I was on a low/slow dose of hormones for 3 years before stepping up my dosages.

I was 5 months into HRT when I went full time.  I knew I would be full time when I began.  I went full time right after I changed my name.  I am glad that I did the way I did, because I would never have made it to full time.  I would have been in the ground by now.

Fair enough. Initially I was more interesting in how frequent it was to start before (and when). However, to keep things fair for those who started after, I have duplicated the options for prior and after.

As a result, the poll has been reset.

Thanks for the responses :)

This would have to be my answer as well.  I was going full time 5 years and am now starting HRT.

Everyone kind of has their order of things I guess. First I started the therapy, then the laser hair removal. That 1st session of laser set the ball rolling for passing in public so I went full time shortly after. Then I started HRT 2 months later, and got my name changed a few weeks after that. I've been lazy about updating my blog so sorry about the spoilers.  ;)

No - I didn't think I would pass. After starting HRT, people started more and more referring to me in the feminine, and after 7 months had gone by, going full time was an overdue decision.

no, came out to parents & family, I went to speech therapy first (NHS) and started laser hair treatment (private), change my name and all my details then start living full time and I'm hoping to start taking drugs soon (NHS, although I will pay for my prescriptions if I do get the booby pills so it's not like they're actually free but I work full time so I should pay imo)

That really depends on what you mean by "full time". I always dress pretty much the way I intend to after transition (with the exception of underwear, and I intend to wear less baggy clothing once I'm more comfortable with my body), but that style is pretty androgynous, and while I do want to be gendered female, I do not intend to insist on it in public, and with my family I've already tried and had them refuse.

So you could say I'm "full time", if by "full time" you mean "dressing and acting the way I intend to after transition". Or you could say I'm not even part time, since I'm not going out of my way to be gendered female.

I went full time when I was 14 and changed my school. It was 1 year before HRT (kind of.. real life test blah)
