How much is this costing you for the laser?  You need 24 treatments because they do little patches at a time?
It's easier to change your sex and gender in Iran, than it is in the United States.  Way easier.

Please read my novel, Dragonfly and the Pack of Three, available on Amazon - and encourage your local library to buy it too! We need realistic portrayals of trans people in literature, for all our sakes

24 does seem like a lot.  I was quoted at only needing 6 to 9 for a full clear, not including electrolysis for the remaining grey.  I've had 3 so far and had some pretty significant clearing.

Are you sure it's a true laser lather than IPL?

Well it is laser, it's American Laser Center in Raleigh. When I went for consultation bak in June, it was a 6 treatment, plus 18 more as needed. So I guess its some type of a guarantee deal. They spend about 20 min's each visit so far. It was 2g, so I am gonna use all it gives...

2 grand? That's not bad at all for a guarantee of up 24 treatments. Is that face only? I plan on starting my laser fairly soon but I only have about 1 grand "extra" for it.

I should really go in for a consult before I ask a thousand questions.

Hello,

I've been a long-time customer at American Laser Center.  The package they suggest is 6 treatments for the price of
5.  Then you have a 2 year window to come in for additional treatments as needed.  The time between treatments
varies by body part .  For the face they schedule treatments 6-8 weeks apart.  Every 6 weeks for 2 years is 17.3
treatments.

I have been happy with all my treatments at American Laser.  If you look on the web you will find some dissatisfied
customers... either they felt pressured into packages or were oversold on what a treatment can accomplish.  Like any
large chain I am sure some offices are better than others.  I don't think they are a franchise, but I am not sure.

A couple things to think about to get the best price.  They frequently offer buy one area get a second area half price.
Face and neck are two "areas".  So it would be a good thing to ask when they will offer that promotion when doing a consult.  Another thing that I recently learned, from the manager of the local American Laser, is how much each clinic is under pressure to meet there sales projection at the end of the month.  I would recommend scheduling a consult towards the last part of the
month rather than the first.  When you go in for a consult they will give you a quote good for 5 days or so.  I have had them
call me back and offer an additional discount if I signed that day, which happened to be last business day of the month.  The local manager has quite a bit of room to mark down their packages.

Of course price doesn't mean a thing if you don't get a good feeling about the technicians who will be doing the treatments.
YMMV.

I just got my first laser hair removal treatment today! Soooooo ouchies!

As a funny lil' side note, the guy administering the laser, he asked if I was really sure I wanted to do this to my face. Then he made a big deal about me never being able to grow a mustache. The he talked about how much he loved his mustache for a couple of minutes. I kept saying, "uh-huh, I really want to do this." Maybe he wanted me to ask for a mustache ride or something?

He was married, but my gaydar was flipping out.

I have often wondered if it might have been betr to go to a smaller business rather than American Laser Ctr. But I guess now soon to get # 9, Hopefully when I am finished I can give a nice review. They are doing my face and neck for 2g. I think the biggest complaint is at this point I want the tech to talk with me about certain areas and really focus hard on those some.

I had two issues with American Laser: Inconsistency and attitude. First I should say that I was treated with nothing but respect by every tech I encountered. It's obvious that they deal with Transfolks all the time :-)
I'm sure this does vary by office but I had at least 5 different techs that treated me five different ways. There was only one that really took her time and wasn't afraid to turn up the machine to the edge of my tolerance; I had a particular issue with the areas on either side of my chin not showing results so she spent more time there.
It's because of the other techs that I feel I didn't get the full benefit from my treatment package. One just wanted to sell me those little bottles of whatnot at $40 each.. Another wanted me to skip the treatment, offering to "comp me a microderm." Another just didn't seem to know what she was doing. I wound up needing full treatments for the full two years; I'm fair-skinned and had dark hair.. I don't really understand why it didn't work as well as I had hoped.
I would be very cautious in selecting American Laser. I don't like the "Well this doesn't always work so, after treatment, it didn't work we'll tell you again that it doesn't always work" attitude.
After GRS and when my financial situation is better I'll be going for laser again but this time to an M.D.

Hi Jessica, Yea I feel the same way. I have had I think only once, the same tech. And only once did I have her to really pin point certain areas..So I shall see....Thanks for ur comment...
