For the last few years, the garden has been tended and added to by Robin Reeves, whose apartment lets out on to the patio.
Robin is 63. She is transsexual, and has been, she said, "legally a woman for 17 years, post-op." She loves to garden.
"When I was young, I grew up in a rural area ... and with the garden I try to bring the rural into the urban. And the lack of roof gardens in this area is sad, because there's so little green here.
