Dr Brassards info states no intercourse for 3 months after surgery. How long before it's safe to start exploring for the big "O"? Are vibrators safe for use or should that all wait for 3 months?

cannot speak to intercourse per se since, well, that was not one of my interests...however, I know that my partner was able to take quite the interest in me about as soon as I gave her that opportunity- and it WAS more fun than dilation.  That being said, my guess is that traditional intercourse is going to put more strain on the stitches and that is why Brassard (and presumably others) give the guidance that they offer...

A better gauge for the individual is looking at your typical healing times on other injuries or surgeries...some take longer and others are up and about in next to no time.  I was one of those that they practically had to chain down in the residence in Montreal because I was wanting to be out and about as soon as I was released from the recovery room.

I actually did really well. The nurses told me unless you saw me walk (because of the dressing and stent etc) you would never have known I had surgery. so far healing has been great, im at 6 weeks and I'll get sore if I over do things, bit I do feel good I got released a day early as well ,,

Listen to your doctor!

(I was under the care of a gynaecologist after surgery and asked at my 5 week checkup. He asked if I had any plans LOL! I said no and he said I looked fine. When I came back for my 6 week checkup he did his examination and gave me a great big smirk! He could tell I wasn't a virgin any more LOL!!!!)

Yes, best to follow doctor's orders, Karyn.

If  you can hold out that long...

I just came back from my 1 month followup with McGinn and she said I am healed up so much already that I am clear for sexual activity.  Her post-op written instructions say no sex for the first 6 weeks from surgery.

If the vibrators or any activity other than penetration isn't hurting you, I'd say you're okay to do so.  Especially if you feel the desire.

How do you feel now? I think its either 2 or 3 months, going from memory. It took that long just for swelling, scabs and such to go away for me. My clitoris took a long time to finish healing.

When you get aroused the tissue is going to swell. You want to make sure that you are healed well enough not to cause any problems.

Swelling is still enough that I can't tell what things will look like. Scabs are completely gone already. When you say your clitoris took a long time, are you referring to scabbing Valerie?
