A Hartford police officer's claim that she was denied a position because she changed genders from male to female is before the state Appellate Court.

The city of Hartford is appealing a decision by Superior Court Judge Henry S. Cohn that allows the complaint by Lt. Dana Peterson to go forward. The judge overturned a finding by a state Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities referee who said Peterson's bias claims should be dismissed.
