We all have times when we are feeling really down and out and i as i do have a few songs that i have found that really lift my spirit and i thought i would like to share and maybe you may have some that i haven't heard before and they can also help.

The one that helps me so..... much right now is

Call my name by Third day

It's been so long since you felt like you were loved
So what went wrong
But do you know there's a place where you belong
Here in my arms

When you feel like you're alone in your sadness
And it seems like no one in this whole world cares
And you want to get away from the madness
You just call my name and I'll be there
You just call my name and I'll be there

The pain inside has erased your hope for love
But soon you will find
That I'll give you all that your heart could ever want
And so much more

You just call my name
You just call my name

Call my name, say it now
I want you to never doubt
The love I have for you is so alive

Call my name, say it now
I want you to never doubt
The love I have for you is so alive

You just call my name
You just call my name
You just call my name now

The love I have for you is so alive
The love I have for you is so alive
You just call my name
You just call my name
You just call my name

For me it is the group MercyMe and the song "I Can Only Imagine."

I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By your side

I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When your face
Is before me
I can only imagine

[Chorus:]
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself
Standing in the Son

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever
Forever worship You
I can only imagine

[Chorus]

I can only imagine [x2]

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you

Just Kate

I really prefer this hymn to lift my spirits.

Because I have been given much...

"Because I have been given much, I too must give.

Because of thy great bounty, Lord each day I live.

I shall divide my gifts from thee with every brother that I see,

who has the need of help from me.

Because I have been sheltered, fed by thy good care...

I cannot see another's lack and I not share-

my glowing fire, my loaf of bread-my roof's safe shelter over head,

that he too may be comforted.

Because I have been blessed by thy great love dear Lord,

I'll share thy love again according to thy word.

I shall give love to those in need. I'll show that love by word and deed,

thus shall my thanks be thanks indeed."
Ill no longer be defined by my condition. From now on, I'm just, Kate.

Mine is a chorus to a song I do not know all the lyrics for.

Who am I that a king would bleed and die for
Who am I that he would say not my will but thine Lord
The answer I may never know
Why he ever ever loved me so
That to an old rugged cross he would go
For who am I

I generally sing it to my self with another chorus.

His blood was not just blood
of another spotless Lamb
But His blood was precious blood
It washed the sins of man
And His blood can heal my body
and set my spirit free
I'm so glad His precious blood
still flows from Calvary.

And another.

Gone,
The stone is rolled back
Gone,
The tomb is empty
Gone
To sit at His Father's side
Halalujah, He's gone
Over death triumphant
Gone
Sin is defeated,
Gone
And He lives forever more

It reminds me that all have sinned and none has reason to be self righteous or look down on another.
It also reminds me that even though I have some major infirmities that He has not healed He could if He wanted to. And I love Him because He died for me and not because He is going to make life easy
My pain and suffering is not to be compared to that which He willingly went through to save my soul and blessed be His holy name.

This is a wonderful thread...Thanks for starting it.
Who Am I is a wonderful song written by Rusty Goodman.
For me I love worship songs and there's one called "He Never Gave Up"

Its been a long long road, and my soul has grown weary...
I cant understand, all the struggles within me...
theres been times I've strayed away, and times I could not pray,
but somehow my Faith would say to hold on theres a brighter day..

He Never gave up, He never gave up
Mercy reached down, that was enough
If u could see where I was before, the I'm sure u would believe,
He never once, He never gave up on me.

Is your back's against the wall, and you feel your hope is gone
Have you often asked yourself, is there a reason to go on..
He looks beyound my guilty stain, and His mercy takes the blame
So forget about your past, praise the Lord you're free at last

He.................

I'm not a Christian, but I like some Christian music for the inspiration factor, and one of my favorites is By Your Side by Tenth Avenue North.  The line that got me when I first heard it is "why are you trying to earn grace?"  That's one of my "tragic flaws" - that I get frustrated because there are certain things in life that can't be done by sheer power of will or effort.  It's a nice reminder that that's okay and that real strength is in accepting help when I need it.

So many.  But this is one that I really like right now:

Mighty to Save by Reuben Morgan

Everyone needs compassion,
Love that's never failing;
Let mercy fall on me.

Everyone needs forgiveness,
The kindness of a Savior;
The Hope of nations.

Savior, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.

Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

So take me as You find me,
All my fears and failures,
Fill my life again.

I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in,
Now I surrender.
Yes, I surrender

Savior, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave. (x2)

Shine your light and let the whole world see,
We're singing for the glory of the risen King...Jesus (x2)

Savior, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave. (x2)

Shine your light and let the whole world see,
We're singing for the glory of the risen King...Jesus (x6)

Those are all awesome songs. A couple i haven't heard before but the lyrics are great.
I think though that the one song that means the most to me is the one below because it really states what i believe the real goal in the Christian life is.

In the Likeness of You  by Petra

In the likeness of You
Recreated, renewed
Let me awake forever
In the likeness
In the likeness of You

Now I lay me down to sleep
My heart and soul are Yours to keep
I close my eyes and try to see
More of You and less of me

Jesus, I'm trusting in You
So while I'm sleeping
Keep me dreaming
Of when I will awake

In the likeness of You
Recreated, renewed
Resurrected by Your righteousness
In Your likeness
In the likeness of You

Men dream of fortune and fame
Making the rules, naming the game
And men dream of things they can hold
Money and power, silver and gold
Jesus, I'm dreaming of You
Take me and melt me, mold me
Until I am complete

In the likeness of You
Recreated, renewed
Resurrected by Your righteousness
In the likeness of You
In the likeness of You
So faithful and true
Let me awake forever in the likeness of You

The likeness of You
I want to be
I want to be like You
In all I say
In all I do

The likeness of you
The likeness of you
I want to be
I want to be
Just like you
In the likeness
In the likeness of you

Eden's Bridge version of I will Change Your Name:

I will change, will change your name
I will change, will change your name

I will change your name
You shall no longer be called
Wounded, outcast, lonely or afraid

I will change your name
Your new name shall be
Confidence, joyfulness, overcoming one
Faithfulness, friend of God
One who seeks My face

Rich Mullins, Ready for the Storm:

The waves crash in the tide rolls out
It's an angry sea but there is no doubt
That the lighthouse will keep shining out
To warn a lonely sailor
And the lightning strikes
And the wind cuts cold
Through the sailor's bones
Through the sailor's soul
'Til there's nothing left that he can hold
Except a rolling ocean

Oh I am ready for the storm
Yes sir ready
I am ready for the storm
I'm ready for the storm

Oh give me mercy for my dreams
'Cause every confrontation seems to tell me
What it really means
To be this lonely sailor
And when the sky begins to clear
The sun it melts away my fear
And I cry a silent weary tear
For those who mean to love me

Oh I am ready for the storm
Yes sir ready
I am ready for the storm
I'm ready for the storm

The distance it is no real friend
And time will take its time
And you will find that in the end
It brings you me
This lonely sailor
And when You take me by the hand
And You love me, Lord, You love me
And I should have realized
I had no reasons to be frightened

Oh I am ready for the storm
Yes sir ready
I am ready for the storm
Yes sir ready
I am ready for the storm
Yes sir ready
I am ready for the storm
I'm ready for the storm

Here's another good one

Sound of Your Voice by Third Day

I ran away from your love
But you waited for me yes you waited for me
And then i heard your song
Singing over me singing over me

And now that i hear you lord
I wanna know you more
I wanna know you more

Sing your song to me oh there's no greater thing
Than to listen to the sound of your voice
When i hear your song i want to sing along
And listen to the sound of your voice the sound of your voice

Lord i am calling your name
And i'm waiting for you yes i'm waiting for you
So won't you show me your ways?
And i will follow you yes i will follow you

And now that i hear you lord
I wanna know you more

I wanna know you more

Sing your song to me oh there's no greater thing
Than to listen to the sound of your voice
When i hear your song i want to sing along
And listen to the sound of your voice

Singing over me bringing peace and mercy
With a song that never ends
Singing over me yeah marvelous and holy
Lord i wanna hear your song again yeah

Sing your song to me oh there's no greater thing
Than to listen to the sound of your voice yeah-e-yeah
When i hear your song i wanna sing along
And listen to the sound of your voice the sound of your voice
I wanna hear your song i wanna hear your voice

Well i ran away from your love
But you waited for me yes you waited for me

Want to hear an amazing song?  Go to you tube and type in a search for Matt Hammitt and Bethany Dillion.  The song title is..In Christ Alone.  It's a song that sees me through every day.  Good and bad.
"Here in the power of Christ I stand."  Hope you enjoy it.  ( And yea....I just had to buy the CD.)

Good song Sarah! It brought to mind a thought about living in the Northwest where we have both the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges and climbing is a great pastime. Oftentimes climbers have slipped and lost their footing on loose shale, always find it a relief to get their feet back on solid rock. This is analogous to our Christian lives as we struggle over the slippery and uncertain terrain of daily life, especially within the context of our gender identity disorder and all that it brings with it.

I'm not Christian by faith, but I'm always uplifted by Judee Sill's song The Donor. Something about the way she sings Kyrië Eleison is very beautiful and meaningful to me. (I'm on my phone right now, or I'd post a link.)

Is this it?

That's the song, but not the version that does it for me - it's this live one, where she explains it before singing it - and it's just her and her piano, no special effects. It's very painful somehow, but also draws me up in myself.
