Buddhist's notion of non-attachment seems to contradict transcendentalism. As one could say that the attachment to one's body, in this case, the desire to have a female one, is based on the inability to become free of this attachment. This is significant only when the notion of non-attachment is being used as one's practice.
However, as the objective of such a practice is just to realize that the body itself is without any real substance, so sufficed to say that attachment is no longer valid when one realizes empirically that all form is emptied of real substances.
Hence, the notion of non-attachment is inapplicable for one who reached its final intent. Otherwise, forced application of this antidote / technique would lead to possible, interesting proliferation of this notion, such as, one due to upholding of non-attachment to one's penis, and castrate it to uphold this principle, yet the attachment to manifesting the female form through HRT and SRS is yet another attachment, then the need to makeup, wearing female dress, accessories, etc, is yet another attachment, and the list goes on.
