Mia Tioli, 54, of Lansing, says she's been a transsexual person all of her adult life. She began taking hormones in 1999.
"Someone once asked me if I was happier as a woman," she said. "Happier? I don't know. But I'm certainly more comfortable. Changing gender isn't a silver bullet that will make your life all that. It's just about making yourself more comfortable."
