I'm thinking about getting my first packer. I hear people talking about packer dusting, and to be honest, I'm not exactly sure what that means. So I wanted to ask what packer dusting was and how do you dust it?

Most packers get pretty sticky after a while.  What I generally do is, after I wash it, I sprinkle it with some cornstarch.  It makes the packer less sticky.

Oh I see. I gotta be honest though, I have no idea what corn starch is. Is it like a powder or a liquid thing?

It's powder and can be found at your local grocery store most likely. There was a topic before where someone mentioned getting a zip lock bag, poring in some powder, and dropping their packer into it and shaking a little. Though make sure the bag is securely zipped because I can only imagine the mess it would make.  :D

I personally don't use corn starch. I just wash mine at night, dry it thoroughly and it isn't sticky by the time I need it in the morning.

So air drying it works the same? I feel like using the cornstarch would make it powdery.

Just letting it dry doesn't work for me.  Maybe it's because my packer is a couple years old at this point.  I don't remember the cornstarch being as necessary at the beginning, but now it definitely is.  And the cornstarch makes it a bit powdery, but I've never found it to be a problem or anything.

Air drying worked for a bit, but I've found dusting keeps it softer and less sticky for extended wear. I don't wear my regularly, so it's not just it being broken down from use, though it is a year old. The cornstarch is dusty, but if you sort of rub it into your packer, it feels just fine and not dusty.

Don't use talc it can give you cervical cancer. I go to the baking isle and get a can of corn starch. I use clabber girl (or should I say clabber boy lol) I just take a few pinches and rub the starch on the packer after I wash. I wash my packer when the rest of me is washed so it can get sticky after I wash it from the rubber materials absorbing water. I pay special attention to cleaning and dusting the back which goes against my skin.

Alright I'll just put a pinch of that stuff on it. But another question. How often do you have to clean it normally?
