      Hello friends,

It has been a long while since I have been able to post on here.  I'm still over seas (for you who have not been introduced to me or do not remember me I am a U.S. service member.), in a bit more stable of a situation now.  I've got a neat new job which is having a real impact in the area I work and will be here for a good bit longer.  I can't wait till I'm in a place were I can share what I've been doing.

Now, this might be a bit off topic, however.  I've taken up distance running as both to slender down my frame a bit and to pass the time.  There is so much dust in my area now running out side is both impossible due to eye injury and respiratory issues (it literally looks like Mars outside.).  So I've decided to run the (location omitted) Bi Annual indoor LT. Treadmill marathon (that might sound insane but I've got to do something to pass the time).  I'm working on increasing my millage as in the past I've been more of a sprinter for obvious reasons.  If anyone here has a decent amount of knowledge on how I can work towards slimming myself down (mostly nutritionally speaking) some while keeping my diet smart enough to allow me to continue training I'd be appreciative.  I can provide more details about were I am currently if need be...but I'd prefer not to post them publicly.  And in case any of you are curious, I've still got all of my kids, with no injuries~   ;)

And in other news...we are getting paid again!...thank gawd.  Do any of you know what it is like to tell a bunch of 18+ year old armed kids they will not be getting paid while being mortared and rocketed nearly bi-nightly? I do!

Respectfully,

Hi Violet, I did a lot of running back in my service days. Sometimes it was my idea, sometimes not! Our commander at Fort Bliss was a road nut, we did 5 miles every day. Got so used to it we'd run 5 more miles on our own at night. Finally got problems with my ankles and had to tone that down. So be careful about the legs. Best wishes, I want to see the trophy when you win! Hugs, Tracey

I am, or was a certified USAT, USA cyclist certified coach. Distance running requires fuel and hydration, so dieting per se while training for a marathon is I'll advised. However, the training required will burn mire than enough calories to slim you down, assume g your not eating a high fat, high calorie diet every day.

I trained for a marathon almost exclusively on a TM so it can be done.  I ran a 3:15 that race too.

Good luck
