What is the process for informed consent? Do you just sign something saying you understand what you are getting yourself into or do they give you a test or something like that?

You just sign a piece of paper with a list of the effects on it.

For me, on the first appointment I went in and talked to the doctor for a few minutes. She ordered some bloodwork and then had me come back in 2 weeks for the results. Then, on coming back, the doctor went over the results and spoke to me a bit more about the issue before having me sign some papers and writing the prescription. An hour later I had taken the first pills.

Some places have a little more involved (like another clinic I know of will have you watch a 1 hour video before seeing the doctor)... but still, pretty fast moving forward and getting treatment.
