Our local newspaper, 1,500 miles or so away ran a short wire service report on this incident, where the victim was described only as a "woman." I'm trying to decide if that was an editing bias to avoid drawing attention to a hate crime, or if in someone's mind beside mine, gender or gender identity does't matter. I'll take the positive outlook and hope that someone else thought it just didn't matter, the story was the uglyness of the employees and bystanders in the incident , not who the victim was. Watch them run a correction tomorrow!
