"I know that it is difficult for some of you to understand the needs of transgender children. You only need to spend some time with these kids to see that they are struggling and suffering beyond your imagination only because they are singled out and misunderstood. They are just like your children and grandchildren; they have the same hopes and the same dreams. "

I wish my dad was like that, he's against me transitioning.  Great article

That girl is really lucky. A lot of parents could learn a few things from that dad.
I know I wish mine had stuck around for a while to see how I turned out - might be a bit of a shock now.

I think this article would be a great thing to print off and show to your parents if you're coming out...I think it always helps to see other people in the same situation as you dealing with it in a positive light

Yeah, I'm an adult, but when I came out to my mother as a teenager, she stopped addressing me by any pronouns. To this day, she would call me her "kid". Uses "they" when referring to me. Needless to say, we don't speak anymore. I think we all wish we had a parent as supportive as this dad.
