Catherine

I was wondering about peoples views on when they have transitioned.

Personally I see myself as having transitioned even though I am Pre-op and need a few things fixed. I feel that I transitioned to being Catherine the day I went full time and came out of the closet. I know I have things to get fixed but as far as I am concerned I am a Woman with a couple of things that need correcting.

I would like to know (if people are willing to share that is) when you considered or will consider your transition complete. Is there a cut off point (excuse the pun) or do people consider transition to be a life long thing..

Just interested

I considered transition complete the moment I woke up after surgery. At that point I WAS a girl, no doubt about it (and I didn't even consider carrying the asterisk!)

I was in it 100% so everything after that was just growing up and learning who I was.

(37 years and still counting LOL!)

Hi Catherine

I never transitioned, in fact the word was never around some 22 years ago.  I left my old job and three months later I was working full time.  Like you said, "I basically had a couple of things that needed to be taken care off" and of course in due time they were, so that I could function as a female.  To this day, I continue to learn and grow and most important of all I'm content in knowing who I am.

So from what you have written and in my opinion, you are just like me, you have not transitioned.

Warmest regards
Sarah B

I don't know if COMPLETE would be a word I'd use

to me there are three phases (1) pre-coming out planning stage; (2) post coming out and pre-op; (3) post-op

I am in the second stage and I do consider myself a woman in practice as well as in spirit. But scattered all along this journey are milestones - hair removal, name change, and so forth - it's difficult for me to feel "complete" when all these are not done, surgery aside.

Now, if the point is, i've done all i can practically do (due to money or whatever circumstance) and i'm still pre-op and likely always will be, then yes - i'd define that as complete for all practical purposes.
