A funny thing happened on the way to the forum thanks to Teagan. I woke up and realized how totally screwed up everything really is.  These ->-bleeped-<-s running around pretending to represent transsexuals have slowly but surely been usurping what being born transsexual is all about. By simply pushing the topic from "sex" to "gender", as in gender dysphoria, they have actually almost won.


A few definitions first so forgive me and these were copied from elsewhere.

"Sex" refers to the biological and physiological characteristics that define men and women.

"Gender" refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviors, activities, and attributes that a given society considers appropriate for men and women.

To put it another way:

"Male" and "female" are sex categories, while "masculine" and "feminine" are gender categories.

I liked this article, very clearly explained the difference between the whole gender and sex thing that I never really understood, til now (so I think). I see why there's always so much debate over it anyway.

Reading this put me in mind of something I have thought about before, and am not sure whether I posted  or not, but with apologies to the city of Boston--

And Transsexuals talk only to God(dess)

That said, I do agree that there needs to be recognition of the differences within the statistical population of Trans folks, but as a working tool to see that all segments are covered and protected from the Phobic members of the greater statistical population, and not as a wedge to drive us apart.

Woo, more over-simplistic blatherings from a biased point of view with a side garnish of obsession with sex. This is actually getting boring. I'm almost tempted to start suspecting this person is an anti-transsexual 2nd wave radfem posing to cause trouble. Pro tip: Don't use outdated and disproven concepts of what gender is to explain what gender is.
