Well here I am in Thailand!

I landed in Bangkok late Friday night; 48 hours from now I'll be going in for SRS with Dr. Suporn.

I haven't traveled much out of the U.S... I've been to Canada and Bermuda but this is very, very different for me!! It's kindof unreal... for someone who hasn't traveled much outside of the U.S., being immersed in another culture is fascinating but a little scary at the same time. As childish as it may seem, I keep saying to myself, "I'm in Thailand!" Communication is a little tough except with clinic staff. Aey put me at ease yesterday while we drove to the hospital. I have the feeling that I'm going to be treated very well here.

I went for blood work, an EKG and a chest x-ray yesterday. I have today to get some more rest (I have to catch up after being awake for 36 hours of travel) and tomorrow I meet my surgeon. From there I'll be admitted to the hospital and Monday morning at 8 they'll be taking me in.
It's funny how we work ourselves up to things and make ourselves crazy with anticipation.... The last few weeks were rough for me; preparing for the trip and still having to work was very stressful. Looking back, I think I would have arranged to have a week off before I traveled. Once I got here I started to relax... even now, 2 days before surgery, I can't say I'm nervous... more excited that this is real :-)

I know that there's one already here from Susan's that I hope to meet tomorrow... There are two others that I'm aware of that will be arriving shortly. I met 3 other post-op women at breakfast yesterday; it's amazing how quickly we connect.

More later.... I'm off for a shower, then breakfast.

Way to go Jessica!  :) Good luck with everything, and hopefully that jet lag isn't too terrible. I'm so happy for you, and I hope the surgery goes well.  :icon_hug:

I so happy you got there! Now the fun part! I'm heading out Monday morning, surgery Tuesday. This girl is right behind you, sort of; Philadelphia is a lot closer than Bangkok! Good luck to us both.

Thrilled for you both.

Keep us posted.

I look so forward to this day myself, though expecting to have to wait at least another four or five years... but that's okay. Will just make it all the better when it does come.

Much love to you both.
