Or... as I call it, how I'm slowly turning into an anarchist.

So its been a fun day today, had to get yelled at by the doctor cause I lost a couple of prescriptions, which is understandable cause it means he has to ring up the government and be yelled at by them cause he's not supposed to reissue scripts for restricted medications until they run out.

Got a referral while I was there for a neurologist for other health issues. You see you can't actually GO to a neurologist, legally you have to be referred by a doctor. I need to get an MRI done, legally he can't request those.

I being the rebellious young person that I am, opened the sealed letter of referral so I could see what it said, nice mentions about my little transgender issue.

Why is my transgender issue a matter of neurology you might ask? Well simply put, it isn't. But the neurologist can't exactly NOT know because you can't change your details with the medicare system without surgery.

Another bit of good news today, I came into some well needed money (Cause i'm a young person who cares nothing for the future and wastes all her money and is subsequently broke, my excuse is that if I actually HAVE a future, ill worry about it then, im too worried about the present for now).

Down side of tax ->-bleeped-<- though is the tax department also won't let you change your gender details pre surgery.

So it would seem the system does jsut about everything in its power to remind me how messed up my life is.... and for seemingly no reason apart from "it's the rules".

Ya know how all that is making me feel?

**** the rules, **** the people who support them too.

Yes you, ok maybe not you reading this specifically... but probably you, you who says the rules are there to protect the majority, the system is there because we 'need' it. The masses need to make rules for the individual, community values, blah blah blah.

What is your problem? What is with this compelling need to control everything and to have rules and red tape and utter BS to make our lives more difficult?

Why do I need to see a doctor?

Well to get my prescriptions of course.

Why do I need a prescription?

Cause the law says you need a doctor, you can't just do it yourself, you could screw it up, or get drugs of abuse.

Ok.... so why not just let ME screw it up rather than those countless incompetent doctors i've seen and seen others see over the years. Is it really so terrible an idea?

Well if you want the government to pay for them the government should have rules governing their use!

Ok, then let ME pay for them, thats just the system justifying its own existance.

But wait, if anyone could access any drugs they wanted, they'd get addicted to drugs of abuse and then steal to fund it.

No.. wait.. that part happens anyway. "BUT IT WOULD HAPPEN MORE", yeah, because if it were legal, youd do it would you?

"Well no but other people might".

Have you ever considered that maybe other people might not? That maybe all these rules are just feel-good BS?

Just one little disclaimer, I'm not really an anarchist, I understand the need for some degree of governance. But the degrees to which it goes to far and to which people justify it. Agh!

Ok end of rant.

Youthful rant against the Establishment? That's what youth's for!!  8)  I know, I grew up in the 60's!!

I was that anti-everything I went and joined the Police Force!   ???   Well, I didn't want to be a conformist among my peers either.  They all wanted to join the Revolution. Sounded like just another lot of sheeple to me!

Have fun, Karen.

Unfortunately I feel like other young people are just as oppressive, they're not anti-establishment, just this particular incarnation of establishment.

Big fan of Molyneux :)

I'll admit I'm a little embarrassed to reread my original post, if it sounds retarded I swear I was just really pissed off and angry at the time :)

Nothing wrong in being pissed off and having a rant.

There do seem to be a lot of establishment rules with little sense. But sometimes they are there to 'protect' the next person up the line.  You lost a script for restricted medications. Some one finds it and uses the meds and suffers harm. The medic who issued it gets hauled over the coals, has to go to panels to justify there actions etc etc.

It is a strange world.

Some one once told me, that understanding the structure of a snowflake is of no use when you are buried in an avalanche.

That's kinda like the system justifying its existence as to solve a problem... that only exists because of the system.

Why am I punished for loosing a script? Why for that matter is the medical practitioner punished either? Answer for both is because the system says those medications need to be controlled, to protect the public.

But the outcome seems rather curious, it seems that the innocent are harmed to protect the stupid.

Don't get me wrong I'm not against protecting the stupid, I'm just against the more intelligent being constricted because of it.

Someone has to be accountable, maybe the accountability should be in the natural form of cause of effect in the person using the medication they don't need rather than contrived to be a burden of others.

I'm sure a counter argument to that would be along the lines of "oh well i don't want to live in a world where society doesn't try to protect each other". My response to that is maybe I don't want to live in a world where society tries to control each other.

Cause the truth is, lesser or more, stupid people bring on harm to themselves regardless, even intelligent people do stupid things sometimes, the system even at its best only reduces the problem. And causes side effect problems that I would argue are just as bad.

No more calls, we have a winner!  Really, that is the point.  Some people never really figure that out, once you do you can work with it to anticipate its next dumb move.

It's like one of my favorite passages in all literature:
Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle. "That's some catch, that Catch-22,"

innocent are harmed to protect the stupid...Don't get me wrong I'm not against protecting the stupid, I'm just against the more intelligent being constricted because of it.
For the most part stupidity is very painful and should remain that way.  And no one is innocent, that's an idea like 'privacy' that's pretty much long gone.  But there are ways of dancing through all of that stuff and some people figure that out.  And sorry, the 'more intelligent' argument is voided by you losing the script in the first place.

a world where society tries to control each other
That's like saying you don't want to live in a world where Indy race cars race each other at Indy.  The very premise of society is control.  As Mister Natural would say: 'Twas ever thus!'

FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

It would only be voided if my argument was predicated on myself being one of the intelligent people, and in the strictest sense, it's not.

I also disagree that the purpose of society is control. But it's really just semantics and nothing to do with my underlying argument.
