Hi all,

So I've been on HRT for just over a month now, so probably should have posted this earlier.

I was a little suprised in the meeting with my private GP (Dr Richard Curtis - London) that he didn't put me on any specific testosterone blockers.  When I mentioned it, he said "The estrogen will do that".  I know that is the case, but will this hurt or slow the effectiveness does anyone know?

Anyone else not on blockers, just E?

Thanks,

Siobhan.

Not unusual to not have anti-androgen meds.  It may be that your T level is low enough without the addition of this medication.

My doctor, who is a gynaecologist, started me out out on a low dose of E, that slowly built up over time - this was without any anti-androgens. Mind you, at the time the she wrote the prescription she had no idea of my levels - I had the blood work done the following day. I'm assuming that at my next appointment, we will discuss the results and adjust my meds as needed. She's also undertaken a similar hormone regimen, so in addition to her medical experience, she also has some practical experience. ;)

In discussions with others, 2 possible theories for this came up. Firstly, it allows for any side effects to show up before the E levels get too high. The second theory was that, aside from the T in my system, it kind of emulates what happens in a pubescent female.
