Title: Funny or odd things your pet(s) do...
Post by: Beth Andrea on January 21, 2012, 09:36:50 AM
Two cats employ me and my family as "staff."

The boy cat, Tiger, has two funny/odd things he does:

When he goes outside to look around and sniff at things, he'll arch his back and start having tremors--starting at his head, down his back, and aaallllll the way up his tail. It's like he's having a cat-gasm. LOL  :)

And, if you're within earshot of him and you sneeze, he'll look at you, and make a gentle "meeeeww", like he's saying gesundheit... :D

One of my previous cats Simba would climb on my bed when I'm sleep and to wake me up she would swipe my cheeck and meow when she wanted to go outside and keep doing it until I woke up.

But every cat that I have is scared to walk on our furnance when it's not even on.  They will hop over it or walk to the side and that's something I will never understand.

My cat Fiyero stalks me around the house.
He also nibbles on my elbows when he wants my attention.

My kitty, Princess (my sister named her) has taken up the bizarre habit of rolling around in the bathtub (when it's dry). Every few days she decides the bathroom is hers and gets really upset whenever someone goes in there. The funny thing is that when the water runs (tub, faucet, toilet) she BOLTS out, she is TERRIFIED of water.

I have a dog with anxiety issues. He paces in circles around the dining room table when he's nervous. He also won't eat if someone is in the kitchen with him. You have to put the food down, say "Okay Hunter, I'm going to go in the living room now." and leave him completely alone.

I have a jack russell mix and his name is Tyko and he'll drag himself around the livingroom using just his front paws if he's too lazy to get up to get his toy.

He'll also watch the water run in the toilet when it flushes. He'll literally just stand there looking at it even if we turn the lights off in the restroom and leave.

Then I have a pit bull named Snupi and he'll flip his bowl over and spill all of his food out then play with his food bowl. He particularly like launching it into the air so it hits the side of the house and makes us wonder if our wall is still in tact lol

My siamese cat is very outgoing and likes to hurt people (biting, scratching) as a way of showing affection. >.> Been that way ever since he came from the pound.

My other cat is a weirdo. She's old and irritable (meows when touched) and always begs to go in the bathroom to lay on the rug for whatever reason.

I had a Russian Blue cat that used to sit on my shoulder. A good observation spot I assume.
He also liked to sleep around my neck while walking around.
He insisted on playing hide and seek! Very strange but always fun as he tore off to a new spot when found.

He was one very cool cat, now chasing that elusive red spot in the sky after a very ruined and long life, 21 years.

When I was a junior in high school, one of my cats tried to give birth in my lap.  I thought it was a nice gesture and it's niced to know she loved me that much, but I placed her in my room so she could give birth there instead.

Before we got my second dog (who recently died), my first dog, a Maltese, was really energetic and naughty. She would run about everywhere, want attention, try to get at the treats, etc. When we got the second dog, she was on her best behaviour all the time and was less energetic. Just a few days after the second dog passed, she got energetic and naughty again and has been that way ever since.

My dog makes a lot of weird noises and when one of us comes home, she grins at us (not hostile, just grinning and shaking her butt like some weird ritual. hehe, the mutt's butt). She insists on having enough room on the sofa, more room than she needs, she likes having a pillow to rest her head on. She used to push all women off "her" sofa, which only three people were allowed to sit on besides her.

aand currently she got um "attracted" to my fish so were attempting to find ways to separate the two lovebrids.

My cat sleeps on her back with all four of her paws in the air.

We used to jokingly call her "roadkill cat."

I had to screen my fish tank. The cat would actually catch the fish and throw them out on the floor. He sat on the tank lid so much that it broke and dumped him in once. We found out that he really hates being dunked in the fish tank.

My 8 year old neutered male cat likes to masturbate AND orally pleasure himself. He started doing it a couple years ago and the veterinarian I worked for has no idea why but has repeatedly asked me to try and get a video of it. I don't think she believes me.

My dog nudges the cats out of the way of my Jeep when I am leaving or entering the driveway. It is like he is a cat shepherd or something. When they were kittens and he thought they were to far from the house he would carry them back. :) I call him my Cog.

My dog Poopie likes to sleep sitting upright on the settee, he'll have on leg on the armrest for balance & he hangs his head over the back of the settee so from the right angle it looks like his head has fallen off!!

When he goes into the garden to do his "stuff" he has to have something in his mouth, he'll franticly run around the flat trying to find a ball, chew, toy or one of my shoes.

I saved the best for last, he loves splashing through deep water but if I try to make him walk through a very shallow puddle he'll stop dead in his tracks as if the puddle is the scariest thing in the world, he'll go out of his way to find a route around it, wierdo!!

I had a Roborovski hamster who loveed running in her wheel, instead of bringing the wheel to a stop she would stop abruptly & do 2 or 3 rotations in the wheel & then jump out using the momentum to fling herself across her tank, I could almost hear her shouting "Wheeeee!!"
It seems to be a Roborovski trademark move as i've seen many You Tube videos of Robo's doing this move

Ah the classic hamster name Hammy, I had a Hammy when I was a kid lol. My Robo hated being handled & many articles I read online stated that Robo's aren't fond of being handled.
Mine hated it so much that the second or third time I tried to handle her she ran to the edge of my hand & jumped back into her cage, my hand was about a foot above the cage & whilst she jumped down my heart jumped into my mouth!! As she plummeted downwards I heard the voice from Worms cry out "BUNGEE" so that became her name.

I don't even know why I called it Hammy. My addiction to rodents evolved slowly.

1. Bought a baby pinkie mouse that would have been used for feed and tried to raise it to health. The poor thing obviously did not last.
2. Got a full size mouse named Juno but my brother fed it to our snake because he hated how much it pooped. :|
3. The Robo hamster, Hammy, who drowned in his own water dish somehow.
4. Uncle Fred, a teddy bear hamster, who lived 1.5 years but then got sick and died. :( My favourite.
5. At the same time as Fred - a big black one, but it was so vicious we returned it and the pet store put it into a quiet space lol.
6. Two baby Robos, Hammy Jr. and Jenny. Hammy Jr. died in his sleep after a month or so, Jenny died not long after but I don't know how either.

My cat will run around like there's a fire if my mom and i are awake for 1 minute more than we usually are.

My cat will scream at my mom's face until she get's food, she also does this when she pukes, and if he mom isn't home and i'm going to get screamed at.

My cat likes to hide under a blanket in the chair beside our bed.

My cat, will just sit there infront of food for no reason, not to eat or anything, not hungry, just sit there.

And that's my Isis

OMG your hamster drowned in his water bowl?!?! Sorry, but that made me laugh really loud..

My dog barks nonstop on garbage day, he barks nonstop at the truck, at the mailman, and at the recycle guy. Whenever he goes outside he runs up to our fence, goes into the corner, and waits for cars to drive buy so he can race them to the other side of the yard.

My other dog is super needy, always wants to be around me, my brother, or his wife. Hates most other people, especially kids. If I am asleep still and everyone else leaves the house, she comes up to my bedroom doors and starts scratching at it to come in. If I ignore her or don't hear her, she'll start moaning and crying.

My cat will follow me everywhere, she comes when I call her, just like a dog. If I go into a room and close the door, she will stand outside the door and meow until she is let in. I always call her my familiar instead of a pet, and I talk to her about stuff, she's a good listener. The dog will sometimes get jealous, and starts sucking up to the cat.

Okay, sharing another funny thing that my cats did.

I caught it on video this time.

Basically, my cat Louise was sitting on the couch with my roommate, and her tail was dangling over the edge. Her sister Thelma was on the floor, and started playing with it. Hilarity and cuteness ensued.

My family likes to joke that my cat and dog have reverse personality; like my dog (a big ol' German Shepard / Black Lab mix) sleeps on top of our couch for example. It's kind of amusing.

Also, when my dad is eating then finishes he'll tell him "All gone!" and Buddy will start barking at him.

My girl, Shadow, a 10-going-on-11 pure black lab refuses to go into any sort of body of wage, including rain, small puddles, a half foot tall deflated swimming pool, etc. She drinks it though, kinda can't live without y'know? There have been times where she would just reluctantly walks into it, especially during rainfall. I dunno whether it was caused by a traumatic event, never got accustomed to water, or she just plain hates it. Oh and she would beg me or Dad to let her outside while it's raining only to come back seconds later. She'll stand there, soaking, and literally giving me the puppy eyes to dry her off. I swear she does that just so she can get rubbed down by a huge ol' beach towel.

That can be so annoying! My dog has started doing that recently at work, talk about embarrassing! :embarrassed:

They already think I'm a pushover dog mom, but now when she starts barking in her kennel, say, when I walk by with another dog, if I go up to her to say 'no!' she starts barking louder.. looks me right in the eye, too!

I love my little monster <3 ;D

My corgi Walter was staring at our skylight last night for some reason. It was completely dark outside and our roof is super high up, so it puzzled me when he was looking up like "....O_O" There was certainly something up there to get his attention... maybe just his reflection lol

My other corgi Pixie barks EXTREMELY loud, and when you tell her to be quiet, sometimes she just look at you and do a really quiet 'woof' as back talk.

My sister's dog Murray is scared of the stairs. He can't go more than a few steps in either direction. Cody (large dog) hates it when I'm doing something that's not petting her. She'll walk or sit in between me and my controllers or my phone or whatnot, paw my back, push around my face with her nose, etc. My small dog, Mya, is a spastic fluff, so almost everything she does is funny. She often slips going up or down the stairs when she's super excited. Sometimes she'll randomly bolt outside then run back in and just speed around the house for a minute or two and then just chill. We still can't figure out why, but it's really funny. Toothless (baby Bearded Dragon) likes to play with the background picture behind his vivarium (a lovely scenic picture of Hyrule: OOT version). We think he is the chosen one.

My dog seems to have memorised my father's irregular work schedule and therefore knows when and when not to wait for him. She was so upset when he didn't come home when he was in the hospital that she wouldn't believe me when I said he couldn't come home yet and I had to drag her to the car to show her that, no, your owner's not here.
She also knows how to put her front paws together if you tell her to "pray".

Our late cat Paavo was the opposite of the cat stereotype of getting terribly ashamed about even the tiniest fails and slips. He just didn't care.

He walked on the backrest of the big couch and his foot slipped since the cushions are a bit soft, and he was just like "oops" and kept going like nothing had happened. He was sleeping the on the backrest of the smaller couch that's in front of the window and he suddenly fell in his sleep, right between the couch and the window, causing me to have a minor heart attack because I didn't realize where the noise came from at first. Then he just crawled back up, sat there for a while wondering what had happened and moved to a better place like saying "...oh well, stuff happens".

Just... wth. His mother is the embodiment of cat stereotypes so all that was just so weird. :D

Fun stuff from the said mommy cat - called Vilsu - who's also my first cat and very much alive. She can wear a harness and function normally UNTIL you attach the leash and paralyze the damn cat. She just freezes completely and finally falls on her side from straight legs if you do that. It's like the ultimate insult towards her feline pride. @_@

my little fluff ball likes to snuggle up in my laundry. not clean, warm laundry. stuff i've worn. if there's a tshirt on the ground, she'll snuggle up in it, roll around etc.
she won't drink water from a bowl unless it's on the table.
she pads my face with her paw to wake me up or tell me to stop something. if i pick her up, she won't fight, she'll just pad pad pad my face. same goes if you pet her the wrong way.
she also follows me around all the time, and meows until i pet her.
she also meows back if you pretend to meow at her.
you could say she's like my little kid, i guess i spoil her a bit too much. she's a great cat

My dogs are both complete oddballs. Our older one thinks that she is a human, and attempts to mimic us in various weird ways. Such as always sleeping with her head on a pillow, or trying to stand on two legs to give me kisses. And our younger one, well.....he chases after any kind of buzzing insect and eats them whole, completely refuses to go on walks when it rains, and really enjoys licking people's feet when they have just come from a shower.

Some time ago I lived in a shared accommodation with a fella who was into growing his own weed. There were rows of it down the hallway. None of my business, really.

But anyways, my iguana got out on one occasion, and ate about a third of his plants... he wasn't impressed to say the least
