Title: Help!: Any S-size GC2B binder wearers?
Post by: kal on July 11, 2015, 07:24:39 PM
Hello,
I need advice for sizing and exercising in binders. 2 questions.

1. Do I have the right size/can I wear M?
I was wondering if I could go up a size to M and still bind relatively well. It's ok and expected if the binding is not as flat as the S size, but I'd like to trade in less flatness for more comfort. The binder I have now binds well, but it feels tight and I wonder if I could get a looser one, because I'm a little worried for my health. I can get it on and off over my head through some special moves...
Would it be possible to get the "it's like it's not there" feeling with an M?
I'm (hopefully) starting T soon, aka in a couple of months, so I think my torso will get bigger, with muscle or shoulder width, I exercise quite a lot. Should I wait until my torso is bigger and my S binder is more decrepit?
p.s., I'd buy a brand new binder, because I'm international and the round shipping is more than the binder itself.

2. Exercising in binders
I was thinking of buying a bigger size loose binder for exercising, what do you think? I exercise in a very stiff-like material, and my chest looks flat when I relax already, though when I pull my shoulders back the material stretches over my chest and it's not so flat.
I was thinking an L size is good, what do you think?

Thank you for viewing!

The problem I always ran into with binders was the sizing. I actually owned a few GCB2s before my surgery. I thought I would be able to wear a medium but it was absolutely impossible for me to get into. I got the large and it fit fine. But I always go up a size because my shoulders are a bit broad.

The only problem I had was (I got the half size binder) and it felt like I had to keep pulling it down.  It looked like a sports bra under regular t-shirts. I will say it did get me flatter compared to some of the binders I had in the past.

I'd say measure yourself and maybe go up one size. The GCB2s are pretty comfortable and not so restricting. You also don't want the binder to be too loose or else it won't bind you very well. You probably don't want your chesticles flapping around while you work out :p

I am also international and was really nervous about sizing on these. I sent them an email with my chest and shoulder measurements and asked for advice, but it was still not completely clear. I measured between 35 and 36 inches by the chest measurement, and 41-ish around my shoulders. I ended up with a medium full length and a large half (also because of return shipping cost). They both go on surprisingly easily compared to my underworks when it was brand new. The large binds similarly to my medium underworks which is now about 6 months old and I lost a bunch of weight in the meantime (11 kg) so it doesn't really fit anymore. But I can wear the large for well over 12 hours and have no need to get out of it at the end of the day. The half length is cooler than the full, but I think the full is otherwise more comfortable and doesn't look or feel like a sports bra to me. The medium fits me really well and looks better than the underworks ever did. I can also wear it for a long time without being uncomfortable at all. I'm also autistic spectrum and the material is way more comfortable than the underworks and doesn't pinch in the armpits and hips. It only binds around the chest, not the belly which I prefer now that I have worn both. But if you were very large in the chest, it might give you less positioning options. Not sure yet how long they last since mine are new.

Never owned a GC2B, so can't speak to sizing.

But please don't wear a binder while exercising. By design, they are restricting the amount of air you can take in. That puts a lot of stress on your body under normal circumstances, and it would be even worse while exercising.

RaptorChops , RomeoEcho , thank you both for replying.
I think I'll use this one a little longer, see if it gets more comfortable, then try an M.
I wish there were somewhere I could try on the sizes!

ftmax , if that's the case, what do you suggest I wear while exercising? I'm, hopefully, starting T soon, and I exercise in a class a few times a week. I'm not getting chest surgery for a few years now, because I'm still 15. Now isn't too bad, but I'd like to avoid exercising in class without a flat chest when I'm on T...

My GCB2 wasn't too restricting but yeah I agree with FTMax on binding while exercising. Maybe you'll want to wear a sports bra when you do work out. Maybe just wear a loose shirt so your chest isn't noticeable.

Double sports bra under a tanktop under a t-shirt. Sports bras are designed to move with your body and allow you to breathe deeply while flattening the chest as much as possible. The additional layers are just what I would do for comfort.
