Probably Mary Jane style flats. Nice, easy, comfortable, and they don't make me taller. I love wedges and heels and whatnot, but they make me too tall and I am already really self conscious.
I like tall boots too, something about them is just very fun, but not terribly practical.
All of them... really... never met a pair of heels I didn't like. ;D
I love those little boots that some Mexican girls wear. Do they have a name? Ugh.
ankle boots? there are several kinds ones with cuffs and ones without
I tend to like sandals with a bit of wedge :)
Sporting a pair of these right now

i like those a lot where do you find them ?? they look cute and comfy
I like booties, they can go so great with tights imo
I like sandals and wedges too. I have cute feet so I like to show them off. I like heels a lot too. I'm short (for a male) about average height for a woman so I love wearing heels. It makes me feel tall. And sexy too.

I quess my favorite would be Boots, pumps are also fun but I find it hard to walk in them, its also har to find a pair that fit me right.
Vans and cowboy boots in general. Though I only say so because I only own four pairs of shoes... vans, boots, hiking shoes I use as dress shoes, and cleats. My vans are comfy. My boots are awesome because they look good, I don't recommend them for long walking trips though. XD
I can't really stand open-toed shoes. @.@ Maybe sandals, but. Bleh.
I'll never understand this shoe fetish. XD
Doc Martin used to make a steel toed Mary Jane. It was built like a tank. One pair, good for life. Which is not an awesome business model. Like all Doc Martin stuff you could walk in them all day and your feet never got tired. I really like simple ballet flats, if they are well made, and few are. Capezio makes a killer training shoe for dance, as good as your favorite cross-trainer (New Balance for me).
And my Birks, of course. I'm a hippie, it's Cali, youze gots to have some chanklas and the Huaraches never quite worked for me.

Converse.
They're comfortable, last a long time, a person can wear them with almost anything, and I know they'll fit me without having to try them on. I like that they come in leather now. The only downside is that they have no real support, but I guess that's what shoe inserts are for.

two out of four brothers in my family only wear fashionable shoes, they're guys who get the shoe thing. youngest one even brought back 4 pairs of them from a school trip to poland, that's what he went shopping for. the other two brothers wear practical shoes
and what about me..? i've one pair of heels that are really comfortable, otherwise i wear flats, or rubber boots when taking walks / working in the forest or fields. now i'm planning to get me some geta, and tengu geta (i'm short, those will give me a chance to look down on others when i wear them)

Perhaps, but the guys I know can go on about boots, work boots, cowboy boots, any boots, all boots like they were Manolo Blahniks.
I like pumps and heels tough i can not wear them as im seven foot tall bearfoot. Plus i have a hard time finding nice shoes that fit.
one pair of my sneakers, I bought them the day before my doggy pasted away so they remind me a lot of her. Plus they look awesome and match everything!

payless rocks thats were i get almost all of mine too love the pair of wedges i have :)
Payless is really cool, you can shop by size online, for those that are a size 11-13 (womens) it is nice to not have to see all the cute shoes that don't come in your size. And their price and selection is both fair. I also happen to live very close to a brick and mortar store which lets me see lots of them in person (though, they rarely have the sizes I need, but they do online).
Also I forgot to mention, converse (or even clones of the Chuck Taylor style) are pretty much the coolest unisex shoes around IMO.
i tried to shop for shoes online....it never worked for well for me because every shoe is cut differently...or at least the ones I wear.
For example,...my Converse tennis shoes are a women's 7 but my mary jane flats are size 8.5 and one of my pair of heels are size 9
9.. argh i have to wear a 10 9 is too tight i dont have many flats yet , ive been very lucky with payless ive never found a shoe from them that hasnt fit , my ex gave me a bunch of heels too mostly older ones. ive started looking for unisex ones that i can start wearing and not draw too much attention to myself to help with my courage im still working up to "come out" fully you guys are giving me great ideas
yeah when it comes to heels, that would be hard to pull off a unisex look hehe.
If you want unisex i would suggest some KEDs tennis shoes. Many department stores sell em and VANs make colorful ones too
converse (or even clones of the Chuck Taylor style) are pretty much the coolest unisex shoes around IMO ever.

I'm looking to buy a pair of wedges but I want a tall shoe especially if it's a wedge. Short wedges aren't my thing! haha! I love me some high shoes! ^_^

Most likely an 11. I think. Depends on the shoe, some of them are narrower/wider than others.
I'm not really a brand person, like tekla said Converse/knockoffs are great. I love Vans, mainly because I've always had them last 5-6 years, and they're comfy as hell. Any of those skate shoes are though, they're like non-ugly slippers or something. I used to sleep in mine. I just avoid the brands that have their logos plastered all over, it irks the hell out of me. I love me some boots, too. I've yet to get a pair of docs yet because I'm broke, but I need one. 'Cause my boots are...kinda dead. And when it's not summer, that's pretty much all I wear.

About 13-14. Depends a lot on the shoe itself though, can be different a lot of the time.

I wear a 12 men's and a 13 woman's :)
as Centcomm01 says, the general rule of thumb is to add 2 to the mens size to get the womens (assuming you are talking about normal US sizes). However, they do vary in actual size much like mens shoes.
For example, my foot is a bit under 11" long and 4" wide, this would place me as a about 12 in womens, and a about a 10 in mens, by most size charts (BTW the chart on the Payless site is pretty easy to follow), however, as online shoe buying has taught me not everything is sized even close to "correct" so sometime I can wear an 11 in womens and on at least one brand of mens sized converse rip offs, I wear an 11 too, which is crazy when you think on it.
The only true way to know the sizes is to try them on, however, I prefer shopping online, I find that brand tend to be more or less true to themselves sizewise, so I know if this brand runs big, I know that most of their shoes usually do.
Thank you everyone has been real helpful I am going shoe shoping this weekend for my frist pair of fem shoes. :)>

true, but if you are unfamiliar with a brand or new at buying shoes online, you will be throwing money to the wind because it will be a crapshoot to see if the shoe really fits or even if the shoe looks good on you.
Going into a store and trying them on is always the best way to go: You will make sure the shoe fits perfectly, you will make sure the shoe looks nice on you and you wont be spending an extra 7 bucks to have it shipped to you house and also you will not need to wait like a week and a half to wear them....buy them in the store and wear them out that day!
Now, if you are deeply in the closet then shopping online is the way to go I suppose....but still. Just walk into a shoe store (if you are not out) and just try a shoe on. No one's gonna kill ya!

Lee's post made me remember, I think I'm the only one like this. Being barefoot and walking around actually hurts for me. I'm in the same boat as you... not overly tall (5'11") but I wear something between a women's size 11 to 12 shoe depending on how the shoe itself fits. I have one pair of heels that fit me fine at 11, I've tried on a few 11s that fit me pretty well, and others that weren't even close. And 12s are nonexistent offline.
Just lucky that I don't need a wide shoe! My feet are really narrow despite the fact that I'm 12-toed. ;D

I was blessed with a pair of long, skinny skis so luckily the width is not often the issue  My feet actually fit rather nice and snug but not tight... Luckily, I have found some online stores that carry a fairly good selection of ladies 13s
*Hangs head in shame of her big feet*
I just bought a pair of open toe wedges today, lol not even close to my favorite style, but they were so cute (shiny black PU) and they were only a tiny bit big on me (they are an 11 but from a brand that runs rather big), but they were only $3 at goodwill so I figure why not. They have a 4" wedge though, I am way too tall when I wear them.
interestingly Goodwill had quite a few shoes that were 10-12, but barely anything higher. So, at least online isn't the only option, though I do wonder how many of the shoes that were large originated from online. Tomorrowif they are open, I will hit up the goodwill outlet, since large sizes seem to set on the shelf I am hoping they have more than the normal store.

I love shoes. I have heaps of pairs, but my friends make fun of my "boring taste" and how they "all look the same". Hey, okay, so I have about five pairs of black brogues, but they're all slightly different... :P
My favourites are probably some vintage burgundy leather monk straps. I also have some mock croc derbys with quite a pointy toe that I really love.
For more casual wear, I do like Converse, like so many others in this thread. I can't wear them to school, though (business dress code), and I've grown so tired of how they fall apart quickly despite being soooo expensive in this country. I'm actually surprised people have said they last a long time, they certainly don't for me. Of course the knock offs are a lot cheaper, but then they break even quicker. Despite all this, I still really want a replacement pair for my previous broken ones. Sigh. They just look so effortlessly cool and iconic.
I've also got some boots... black Doc Martens, some brown 70s things with cuban heels, others... I'm too lazy to go and have a look.

LOL me too! =D
when I'm skating I wear converse...which I destroy. I bought a new pair 2 months ago and I've already worn a hole in the ankle of my back foot and the sole is seriously worn down from foot breaking I reckon another month before I go through the sole completely. When I'm not skating i like cute pumps or even cuter heels.
