so i remember how someone was asking for tips on how to masculinise their room, and although i kinda feel like your room should be a natural extension of you and what makes you feel comfortable, regardless of gender, i figured it might be interesting to put up some pics of our rooms in case anyone is looking for some inspiration. messy rooms included. i love mine, i think it's kinda gender neutral, but it's my space and it's great to hang out and work in.
going roughly from left to right- exercise bike, dvd collection, weights, bass guitar, ancient keyboard i never use, random crap on wall, messy bed, cat, tv, mugs piling up, computer, computer desk. there's also another section behind me that's currently full of cardboard boxes.

I love the way your room looks. I wish I could be more bare and sparse of a person but I have tons of stuff, most of which I know I won't get rid of because it is crafting stuff (yarn, fabric, etc). I don't have any current pics, but my fave things about my room are my bed, which my dad put on risers, though we are going to build a loft bed eventually, and two lamps I got at a yard sale Saturday. I hooked on on my desk, they are lamps like go on a drafting table.
i dunno about sparse, my room feels pretty full, i just like things neat.
like, all the dvds in alphabetical order....
Love the way your room looks! I wanted my walls white but instead there like a blue gray. I don't like it, but it was better than the color it was before.
My room desperately needs to be reorganized and it was a mess up until yesterday.
There's also a pig humidifier in my room currently that's really girly and is actually something my sister bought a while back, but I'm using it in hopes it may help my skin not feel as dry and irritated when I sleep. Bah, so disregard the weird pig-shaped apparatus on my dresser.
lulz.

awesome, a room is incomplete without a guitar and an amp. my tinyass amp's hidden beside the tv table, you can just see the side of it.
epic pig is epic.
@JasonRX: I like your room also. Looks really good.
Dominick, those girls above the Wicked posters...any chance they're the Charmed girls? Can't really tell, but if so, awesome.
@Caseyyy: Nope, all the pics are of Jenna Leigh Green and 2 are of Cyndi Lauper and the other one is Jesus. :)
I misgendered Jesus! :o
@Caseyyy: Were you talking about the pics under my dresser? Bottom shelf it's my wicked program, 2 pics of Cyndi Lauper and Jesus.

Thanks mate! ;D I wish my mom felt the same way.
my room at home is tiny lol and I'm not there atm so no pics. My room at university is bigger than my box room at home haha
My Dad redecorated my bedroom whilst I was at univ last year for me coming home for the Summer as a surprise lol. It's deep purple one wall and cream the rest of them with purple/pink things everywhere :# apparently he was going to do it blue and yellow kinda colours as they are my favourite but his (then) girlfriend talked him into making it more girly >:( I'm not out yet so I don't blame him for letting her I guess and I was chuffed with the new furniture he put in aswell so ^-^ Still :/ at the girliness though ha (I could change it but it's only me seeing it anyway as my room is too small to have people in)

I like purple...a lot.
Okay lol I just took two photos but then I tripped while walking backwards trying to get more of the room in the shot, and all the galumphing woke up my kid. XD So I'll upload them later. I don't like her seeing my photobucket or email if I can avoid it.
@Bahzi: Nice! Cool painting on the wall there.
I'm living with my parents at the moment, so my room is a semi-converted stereotypical princess bedroom. Everything is white and pink. Can't wait to get my own place again.

Haaaaa *waves at Mewtwo*
Hmm my dormroom's pretty barren, mostly just my laptop, tablet, animation books, and a few toys.
And my brother's Spongebob comforter. I have no shame.
I had a really small room when I was growing up, which meant I didn't have a lot of space to collect a bunch of clutter, so it was generally neat. I had posters and stuff on the walls, the bed, a night stand, a giant guitar amp and guitar on a stand and a stereo. Everything else was pretty much in the closet.
Now, many years (and crappy apartments later) I have a whole house that I've decorated. My bedroom looks like it was torn from the pages of Better Homes & Gardens (or the Pier 1 Import catalog ...) Since I've got other rooms, the bedroom can be relaxing without any clutter. I've got a "music room" now with about 800 or so records, 6000 or so CDs, 2 techniques 1200 turntables, a guitar, an amp, 5 or 6 pedals, a pile of cords, an ugly floor lamp, a media computer, a Nord keybord and a pile of framed art that we rotate around the house (and yes, a lot of the music stuff is my other half's).
Here's my room -

I like how you can see a bit of me taking the picture in the second shot, and the first pic in this thread on the computer. My house is messy, but considering almost the entire thing is captured in these two photos, I think I'm doing alright. I get it spotless now and again, and that lasts like an hour or two.
while digging in my phone I also found this. I was trying to get an idea of my stature last year but it's not especially useful for much other than showing my house.

It's okay to have a feminine room. I hope you didn't decide to change it because of this thread. Or maybe that's a decent reason, maybe it just makes you think about what you actually want. Anyway try not to let abstractions and stereotypes make you get rid of anything you like.
Partly because of this thread, but I've also wanted to change it for a while now..
All of the furniture was given to me. So I had absolutely no say in how I wanted it to look. xP
Here's my living space, in all its messy glory. I sleep in the living room 'cause the carpet in the bedrooms is older than most of the guys on this forum and it's seriously gross now.

@Felix: I like your bunk-bed. I was thinking about getting something like that for my room. But my room is small so it probably wouldn't be a good idea for me. Be it would be cool to have in like a spare room or something. I like your room too.
@driven: Nice!
@Sea-Sam: Can you ask your parents to get you new furniture for your room? Like for your b-day or something? I know it sucks having furniture in your room you don't like. I had furniture in my room since I was a kid I didn't like, and then for my B-day I picked out new furniture for my room that my mom bought me as a b-day gift. Have you thought about saving up and buying new furniture for your room yourself?

Secondhand shops and places like Craigslist and stuff are
great for this -- oftentimes you can find really neat things for not that much money. For example, I have an old mail sorter from a Post Office/mailroom that I use to sort DVDs and, yea, mail.
There's no way I'd post pics of my room as-is: a bomb going off in it would probably actually make it look
less messy and cluttered. I need to sort, store, and get rid of a lot of stuff I have I think. I just have too much. There was a point where it was all neat and stuff...I miss it. It didn't look bad at all at that time.
"I misgendered Jesus" - that made my day :D
My walls are purple because I stole my sister's bedroom when she moved out :/ I try my best to completely obscure them with posters, art projects, and my version of charlieissocoollike's Wall of Stuff. Floor is covered with school stuff, violin case, guitar, books, half-finished stories, music, and half-finished art projects (not priests, autocorrect!!). I have loads of books arranged alphabetically (only neat part of my room is my bookshelf...) and every available surface is crammed with yet more art projects, cosplay wigs on stands, and various souvenirs. Surprisingly enough, I'm a pretty organised person, but when I don't need other people to be able to find things easily I just organise stuff in my own way, which happens to appear messy to outsiders :P That's my excuse, anyway.
My room is a bit messy. That's mainly because I can't seem to find the time to clean it, unfortunately. But here it is in all its glory.

I feel you there. Except for the bed, I got all my furniture from dumpsters, friends, other people's evictions, etc. Totally random and unchosen. Luckily I live in a huge building with high turnover and I've been here for years so I've been able to quickly replace anything I don't like.
Henry we have the same bunk bed! Does yours have the canyon on the bottom bunk where your fat boyfriend sat on it too much and warped the springs? Do you do acrobatics while hanging onto the underside of the top bunk? Do you smack the back of your head on those corner edges and swear every time that you aren't going to do that again? Is yours also completely impossible to have sex on because it reminds you of a little kid squeaks too much? Haha. Gosh I'm so easily pleased. I should go check out Cindy's ironing thread again, see if that's as exciting as talking about furniture. ;D
Not gonna post a pic right now but I first read this as "what does your mom look like?". Oh god... I am too high to be on this site.
My room looks rather like a shrapnel bomb detonated in it. I have loads of stuff, and I'm one of those hoarder-type persons, so... yeah. I have a bunk bed that sounds like it's falling apart every time you sleep in it. There is order in my chaos; I know where my stuff is despite it not being in neatly labelled boxes and such. Tidying the room is unpleasant because then I have to mentally revise every "map" I have of where the things are, which can take a while. Some old "maps" are still in my head, so I may remember where I put a specific toy when I was 6 but not where I'd find it now.
In all it's unkept glory.

schism, your room looks lovely! I could never live in a room like that, its far too neat and clean and, well, normal looking for me, but it looks so nice. I do envy those windows a bit, though.
lol, glad people thought it was funny. I hope I'm not going to hell.
I hate my room too Sea-Sam. I had to leave home due to abuse a couple years ago, and then when I returned (ironically I had to return because of abuse at the other place) my room became a TV room. So I got moved to the storage room and got all the unwanted furniture, which is rather feminine.

That's okay, most of my junk or stuff or whatever
is in...well, it's in neatly stacked boxes if that counts for anything. Never unpacked from a move I was supposed to make. As a result I have no idea where probably 90% of my stuff is because I wasn't the one who packed a lot of those boxes, or at least packed them without just dumping stuff in them, and I wasn't even in the room when they were all piled into the closet.
Sadly, I think most of my Cds are in there... :( Which are, of course, the primary things that I wished I had unpacked.
All of yers rooms is immense! ;D
All through my childhood and adolescence, until I left home, I shared a room with my slightly-younger sister, and we were allowed to take turns choosing the decor. So it veered between my sister's preference - candy floss pink walls and a purple ceiling - and mine - masculine reds and plain white walls, lol.

I walked past the cage the other day, Wooster looked up and saw me, jumped out of his skin and fell backwards down the little set of stairs in the cage.
