It's getting close to summer and unfortunately, I will more than likely spend 99% of the time working in the factory.
My hair is getting long now and I think the ends could at least do with a trim. But, do you think I should keep it this length or let it grow longer?

You may think im crazy because of the whole being in a factory thing but... color it dark. You have lots of red pigment in your face and the hair is making it way too much. Also invest in a good fragrance free clarifying shampoo. All the deposits from dirt and sweat will make your hair awful looking without it. As far as a style, ill think about it when i get home, i have something in mind but i have to get back to work and i dont have time to find a pic.

Clarifying shampoos are one of the keys to survival during the summer.
i think you should give a feminine shape to it. Ask a stylist what shape would fit best with your facial shape :)
Yeah I'd get the ends trimmed up and get it styled more feminine. I don't think that hair color works for you though. What is your natural hair color?
I say all of the following to help you. So please don't be discouraged.
You're pretty tough to find a good picture for. You need better layering for one. It also looks like your hair is naturally slightly wavy and that doesn't look too great on you. Not only that, but if you're going to be in a factory all day every day, maintaining any kind of nice hair-do is gonna be extremely difficult. I was thinking a style that feathers away from your face but... not only would that make your day extremely hard in trying to maintain it, but it would come down after sweating. Plus well... your cheeks are a bit hollow for that.
If you haven't tried to find something adorable with a clip yet, play with it for a couple hours, you may find something!
Also, you need to look into proper hair care. Your hair looks dried out and kinda thin. Get some salon quality products including: clarifying shampoo, moisurizing shampoo / conditioner combo, perhaps a strengthening combo, something to control frizz (they make sheen oils for this, or even conditioners), and a deep conditioner if you find your ends are messy. Or you can get a keratin treatment. If your ends are messy that means they're overly porous and / or their elasticity is shot and those things are about to split! Not good, cuz once they start splitting, the only way to fix them is to cut them. If you have any questions about any of this... let me know. I've been going to school on this for 6 months and I kinda know my stuff.
Your hair is very bluntly cut. It makes everything look flat and bland. Your hair really needs depth. You can start by getting some texturizing sheers and go to work. Or let a stylist do it. And I was serious about getting a new color, that is a must for you. Red does not work on somebody with red pigment in their skin, or with thick skin like yours which looks pretty porous. You need a cool tone. Black, maybe even with a blue intensifier to cool it off more. That would probably look best on you. I would also lift the bangs a slight bit off the eyebrows, as those are not your high light and when someone has bangs as low as yours, that's what they see. Plus it would put less weight on the fringe and you could poof them out a lil easier, hiding your high hairline better and requiring you to not start the part in your head so close to it.
I wouldn't even begin to figure a style for your hair before doing those things. After doing that, you'd probably look 100x cuter.

It was originally brown, but when I was 18 I dyed it black once. It's never gone back to the brown it was and stayed very much black.

I don't often have time to play with my hair. Using a headband or hair tie is all I have time for.

As for the style its at right now, I've been more concerned about growing it out and keeping it out of my eyes. Now that it's long enough I am looking to do something with it. I've never had the same hair cut more than twice in my adult life. I have not found a style I liked. The funny thing is my hair naturally wants to do this:
(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi688.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fvv246%2FKeairaElisabeth%2FIMG_1220-1.jpg&hash=35ddc605ab7b775f89d46d015521a4fdf0201256)
Which, if I put all of your suggestions together would give me this kind of look:

Or

One little bit of constructive criticism:
Thin the eyebrows.
None of us are Brooke Shields.
Good point. I mean it's not like one side actually has more hair than the other.
Since my eyebrows seem to be such an issue, once again I will be sure to shave them off in the morning when I am getting ready for work. That way I can indicate what mood I am in using a Sharpie and maintain a look of joy, irritation, surprise or annoyance with absolutely zero effort, leaving me able to focus all my efforts on my job. And with it being a marker instead of a pencil, it will last longer.
Thanks ^_^
I was serious about there being more on one side than the other. the rest was a joke . ;)
But when I get my hair cut I will get my eyebrows done so that we can move on and focus less on my eyebrows and how awesome I really am. :P

I've been looking into "threading."
Have you ever heard of it?
Magic Markers now come in several colors!
If you are seeing a laser person for your beard then ask them how much more to do the eyebrows. Originally she was going to charge $25 extra for face and eyebrows and then when I added in lower arms, chest, and underarms it was free.
But even $25 isn't really that much more than I've paid for waxing them and laser is supposed to be forever after enough treatments.
That hair cut would look pretty good on you if you shortened the length of the bangs. You will also need to take some of the weight off of the bottom. Your best feature is that your eyes aren't so deep set and since the weight of your hair is distributed to the bottom, not only does it look unbalanced, but all of the attention goes there.
The eyebrows are easy and can be done by yourself with some tweezers and an initial investment of maybe 45 minutes (perhaps over a few "sessions"), and 15 minutes a day of maintenance. I had BAD eyebrows and took care of them myself and get compliments on them all the time. I'll post a before and after picture later (have to get ready for work). When tweezing, get multiple hairs at once or it'll take forever. Also start at the bottom and work your way side to side until you reach the frontal bone in your skull. Then, trim the tops until they're nicely and cleanly rounded. Lastly, get a fine tooth comb and one of those nose trimmers, rake the comb against the grain of the strands, and trim going against the grain, then with the grain. Obviously that will shorten the strands, making those longer hairs not stick out from your hard work. For help, here's an image of what is considered attractive eyebrows:
http://www.howtoshapeeyebrows.net/
Note, this is a guide. Everyones different. I had pretty wide set eyes so I thinned the outer sides more to make my eyes appear closer together.
For maintenance, pluck regrown hairs every day (or two) and trim every 2-3 days (if your hair grows like mine anyways. Apparently I grow hair, skin and nails so fast I can donate keratin).
And no excuses to having no time. I work 40 hours a week and go to school 27 hours a week and I still find time for my upkeep. Being a girl (especially with our genetics) is very tough work ;)
the only objection i have to anime pics as hair guides is that it is almost impossible to guage it in real life...and when real life hair is cut to that of an anime cut then it looks like you are cosplaying 24/7.
I would recommend going to a good stylist and asking them what would be the best cut for your facial shape. Get some hair stylist magazines once they figure out what shape and length is ideal for you and go through the mags picking one that would work
and plucking eyebrows is super easy. I do it once a week while i take a bath. It takes 4 minutes.

When I had laser done, they wouldnt go near the eyes except between my brow. It was a safety concern.
Besides, with plucking it hurts a heck of a lot less.

I get my eyebrows threaded every 6 weeks or so...I try to keep up with wild hairs in-between, but eventually they overwhelm me.
It's worth the $10 or so imho.

I really like this style...for a factory it's just right. Simple, keeps hair reasonably under control, very low maintenance.
I drive, so I use those spring clips (about 1 1/2" long, the top curls up to open, and snaps down to close) to control my hair. I usually use 4--two for the bangs, two behind the ears (to maintain my "tendrils", which I love, love, love) and a pony tail.
For going out...I have no idea, sorry.

She makes me wear metal tanning bed tight fitting goggles and only shoots away from my eye itself.
She has done it for a lot of people and no one is blind yet. I didn't know she would do it until she asked me if I wanted to do it too.
But it is a matter of personal comfort with the safety so YMMV

LMAO! I wondered when someone would suggest that! :D
It's a cute cut... but you have to have the right profile for it. That's what's called a 45 degree graduated bob, and I couldn't tell you if it'd look good on you without seeing a profile view of you first.
And that doesn't look like what you had. What you had was straight along the jaw line. It looks like a blunt bob.... and something tells me you haven't had a hair cut since.
Aside from bangs trimmed, you'd be right! I haven't had it cut since that bob.

http://hair.lovetoknow.com/Graduated_Bob_Haircut
http://www.bobcuthairstyles.com/graduated-bob-hairstyle-pics.html
I see many advantages to the graduated bob, but going by my past experiences a bob has never turned out well for me.
I'd say no. Your face is rather bulky, and the graduated effect in the back would kinda look silly on you. Not only that, but your hairline has receded quite a bit (or at least your temples have), and the shorter back would not go well with a high hairline like that. You may actually want to look at getting some extensions up there to make it look a lil fuller, but first read on before considering that.
I would seriously say step 1 is to thin the hair out a bit from mid length. Your weight line (google it) is really causing an issue with your style.
Also, you see how in the haircut you chose, it goes from being short in the back, to short in the front? Well I think you should reverse it a bit. Make it longer in the back, and graduate to shorter going towards the front. Make it a soft blend, meaning instead of a straight line, curve the weight line. The way your face shapes from your nose to your chin would go well with that.
You really need to texturize those sides though. Or get some layers. That weight line is very heavy compared to the amount of hair you have on the top of your head.
BTW that pony tail is a bad idea for you. It shows your balding temples. Either pull some of the sides out of that band or get it cut so that it wont go in there. I have the same issues (though not as bad as you) and that's what I do.. and a pony tail actually looks pretty cute on me!
So are we talking something like these?
(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fmediumlengthhairstyles.co%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2012%2F04%2Fmedium-length-hairstyle-for-women-2012.jpeg&hash=489ad8addfcc7e2d45227868fbd0994b5b18dfab)(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F1.bp.blogspot.com%2F-i70bRnqNHEY%2FTmr0eTyRS1I%2FAAAAAAAACmQ%2Fn5P4zJ0ya7M%2Fs1600%2Fmid_length_bob_hairstyles_medium_length_haircuts.jpg&hash=5ebab0c275b5d96b41486021995615dec50aed83)(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftrendyhaircutstyles.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2009%2F12%2FSummer-2009-Blonde-Hairstyles.jpg&hash=408c348316d418da9075017de6a91e648c82d990)
The middle one would look good on you. Just get shorter bangs. Also, the middle one looks either point cut or razor cut (but I'm not too sure). If you don't want such a choppy effect, ask them to use texturizing sheers and not a razor, and not to point cut. Either would look fine with you, but I'm not sure razor cut would fit your personality. And get your sides cut so that it hides your frontal corners (both when you have a pony tail and in natural fall). Don't you dare get the 3rd 1 lol. Not for you!
Oh, and DON'T forget to maintenance that hair with some good product! Her hair is beautiful and healthy and it wont have the same effect on you until you do something about it. You may need a keratin treatment, or you may just need a really good conditioning. Your hair will not look so shiny and healthy unless you seal the cuticle! GET SOME CLARIFYING SHAMPOO if you get it dirty, or the buildup will also make it look dull.
Okay, I'm going to get my hair cut tomorrow. I'll take the middle picture plus your notes with me. Thank you for your help. And yes I will post pictures. unless it turns out badly. Then it will be back to hat shots :P

On a side note, school is very fun. Anybody who gets into fashion should consider doing it! The book work you have to do once you get to clinicals is minimal.

which still looks like a bob to me. But I do kind of like it. ^_^
Your new hair style looks great on you. :)

You're welcome, though I'm not sure what help I provided. lol.
But never ever give up hope. It's like the last line of defense. Lose hope and you lose yourself. I almost did once. I don't want to go back there again. BTW, my Eldest Stepdaughter's name is Tori. ^_^
I'm your eldest stepdaughter?
Your new style looks great! It frames your face quite nicely. I think you actually look a bit like Kari Byron on Mythbusters. In my opinion, anyway. :)
Lol. Thanks. ^_^
BTW, I'm going to color my hair now. I'm going with a blue/black, which is more my natural hair color anyway.

just colored and still drying. Why is it that when you get your hair done, you can never get the same look? :-\
Simple answer: because you need to work with it with heat and a brush to shape it. If you want a permanent look, you'd need to put chemicals in your hair.
Technical answer: Your hair is composed of 3 different bonds, hydrogen bonds, salt bonds, disulfide bonds. When you put water in your hair, it breaks the hydrogen bonds and your hair reshapes into its original wave pattern unless you do something about it. This is why women do NOT like getting their hair wet, especially after just getting it done. If you work with it using a blow dryer (which also breaks hydrogen bonds) and a styling brush of some kind (I would get a round brush and fluff up the sides above your ears to give the top some volume), or another type of styling tool (flat iron / curling iron), it'll work.
If you want a permanent look, you'd need to break the disulfide bonds. These are done with chemical services such as perms or relaxers. I wouldn't recommend this because doing so can strip the cuticle of the hair. Not only that, but every couple months you'll probably want to go back and get a retouch, it turns into a bit of an expensive habit.
Your stylist should've gone over how to maintenance your hair. My bad for not telling you to ask her for how to maintain the look. Ask your wife to help you with some tools or a hairdryer if you try and it gets too frustrating.
Hair maintenance takes a bit of practice girl.. let me know if you need any more advice.
Actually, I do have one burning question. What is really in those spray bottles? is it really just water?
Generally my hair doesn't go back to the way I like it until 2 days later. thanks to HRT, I don't have to wash it so much anymore. Last night I did blow dry my hair after I colored it. ^_^

Well, coloring it means you (HOPEFULLY) shampooed afterwards, which breaks the hydrogen bonds, and also it changes the pH level of the hair, which breaks the salt bonds. The blowdryer will also break the hydrogen bonds, as heat will do that too.
Blow drying your hair takes practice and knowledge of the right brushes. It takes a bit of playing around with it to get the effect you want. In the basic sense, form the hair in a way you want, blow some heat over it and hold it in the position long enough for it to cool off. Heating the hair breaks the bonds, the hair cooling down forms the bonds back.
Make sense?
As for the spray bottles... trade secret ;)

To be honest not a big fan of this color the other color suited you better imo.
I like the red too Tigger, but they have a point. my skin tone has too much red.
The black appears too dark for your complexion maybe a medium brown would work better.
Hmmmm...
Or dark blonde...
But K, your looks have improved SO much in so little time and I am very impressed with how you are able to take and utilize constructive criticism.
Sport the black for a while. See what mileage you get. That pic is not your best but I think you may be able to work it.
It's the style. It needs to be back to how it was when the stylist did her hair. Get a round brush, a hair dryer, and a flat iron and get to work.
I don't think a flat iron is the right tool for this job. The idea was to add layers and some depth. I'm still trying to figure out what I can do with my hair with this style. However I do have a round brush and hair dryer.
Tori, Thank you ^_^
I do actually like the black but I was happy with my red. I think part of my hesitation has been because it's a lot of change in just a couple of days.
Plus, I always hate my hair the first couple of days after it's been washed

I may need to change up my makeup color palette too now.
A flat iron will take care of the frizz... or you can use lotion, or deep condition it.
You can also create waves and even curls with a flat iron. It's used after a hair dryer to give it slight effects that the unpredictable nature of a blow dryer does to your hair.
I wanna grab the round brush for you and show you but I cant, lol!
well it doesn't matter.for right now anyway. I'll wait until the next time I wash it and deal with it then. Besides, I have a friend who knows how to use a flat iron or curling iron. I'm sure if I ask her nicely she can teach me.
But thank you again for your help. ^_^
Youre welcome hon. Its not to hard. You can always order a mannequin and practice after your friend teaches you the basics.
BTW if you don't like how your hair looks after shampoo, change shampoos. People make the mistake that they're all the same, they are not.

I figured it out on the first go. it's close enough. ^_^
Thank you
