Hips are a bitch aren't they, I'm to old for mine to grow, and don't seem to be getting more than minor fat dist, so I feel your pain.
Only option is corset training, surgery, im not sure if exercise can help or not.
as there really isn't any muscle on your hips, weight training would probably be of very little help... don't starting putting on lbs till you're quite a few months in to HRT otherwise your body probably won't put it in the right place. You don't want my belly, it's much less flattering.
One option, which I am near certain I am going to proceed with in the future, is fat grafting. have them take as much as they can from my midsection and put whatever is still viable on my hips. for about $10,000 ish, it is similar to a used car... one I can enjoy for years to come! hopefully hahaha
Holy no-caboose! You weight 88lbs at 5'8"? hon, you really need to start eating! oh em gee
edit ~ Sorry, misread. Just wait a few months on HRT and then eat eat eat and pack it away :) You will balance out nicely. I wish I had a waist like that!
.
at least 6-8 months... at least that's just playing it safe. give your body time to reconfigure how it works..
You lose those fat cells from where they are pulled, but they stay where they are put forever as long as they survive the transplant. Fat cells don't multiply or die off, they get bigger, or smaller.
What's wrong with small hips?
Guys and girls love women with small hips.
Ok some people like woman with large hips and butts. But many like skinnies.
If they are a still a problem wear a butt enhancer. Cost $20 from most beauty stores, just a padded girdle to be honest.
.
as a man, I somehow scored with a booty, but hips are skin to bone for me... so I'm going to put a little fat there to give myself a fighting chance ;) but its called an apple shaped body. Many MANY women have it and ways to hide it are pretty easy... I truly understand your position muuu
The modern fashion is for a plenum flare to tops. It looks really really good if you have boy hips. Looks like crap on big hips. Enjoy what we have.

a lot of what you perceive as hips is purely pelvic bone. very skinny girls usually have no hips either. When you add fat to the mix, thats when the top and bottom of the hourglass start filling with sand.
.
How old are you?
Just a little thing...
I tried hip padding (curvy pads) since I am pure bone there with no fat, and the instant feeling was like... "I feel fat".
.
nono, I was just wondering if your growth plates were fused yet.... Your hips may very well widen since you're getting a start before 25... obviously ymmv
not to mention you have an absolutely tiny figure, and theres nowhere to go but out for you... give your body some time to really program itself from HRT... The fat is going to have to go somewhere! Good luck hon, and don't worry, you're young, which means you have a lot better chance than us 30+
.
I don't know what to tell you hon. I have a 39.5 underbust. my hips haven't shown any signs of life... but with the right outfits, I've gotten a few lovely compliments. With such a small frame, you have a world of options at your disposal, and a fighting chance at HRT and hip growth. look at the bright side, worst comes to worst, you can get silicone implants. Someone on this site got some not too long ago and she looks amazing.
I wear pads daily. I hate having boy hips.
You may lose a little upper body mass with time on hrt too. I did and even though I have no fat on the sides of my hips, they do look wider due to the loss up top.
1. Make sure your hormone levels are female.
2. Gain fat.
3. Check whether fat is on your hips.
4. If not, have a fat transfer surgery.
5. Be happy.
.
you're definitely not screwed. Just because there is nothing there yet, doesn't mean there won't be development. Because of how young you are, your body has much more HGH than one like mine. You have like, no fat.... so how can you know where it's going to go till you try?
.
you have fat cells... they are just tiny tiny tiny right now. your entire body is covered in a film of fat. your body just never had the instructions to store there before. with your system getting a new set of instructions, it is quite reasonable to assume it will use the female storage compartments ;)
Sorry but I beg to differ. Not every one will get hips or a butt, without working out. It is not something that is programmed in our DNA, because most of us has the pesky Y.
I have been on HRT for going on 5 years and I still do not have hips. You ether need to accept you may not get hips, or you will have to do what a lot of women do, and not just transwomen, go with padding.
I never suggested it's a guarantee. Only that she is so early on in HRT and with very little body fat, she shouldn't be giving up so fast.
.
You want to know what happens to women who try to fix every little thing they think is wrong?
we are all our own worst critic... I do it all the time.
How about this, would you rather be completely manly from head to toe, removing all doubt? or would you rather have 1 trait that is easily disguisable?
Ask any women what their least favorite thing about their body is, and they will pile on thing after thing, compiling a huge list of things they perceive as wrong, out of proportion, imbalanced, lumpy, too big, too small, crows feet, dimples, deep voice, squeeky voice, eye color, eye shape, hands, ankles (or lack thereof), hair is unmanageable, loss of hair, imperfect skin, size of feet, visible clavicle..
lets not even START with breast shape, nipple color, etc. the things we look at and try to correct in our minds is usually a figment of our imagination, and minor and hardly noticeable to most human beings. Nobody walks around and stops and stares at someone, scanning head to toe looking for imperfections..
It is like buying a used car. You love this car.. it is beaaauuutiful. The paint is nice and shiny, the interior clean and smells good, the engine sounds great and it has 2.... 2 cup holders. Perfect in every way! then you sign the paperwork, get your new baby home, and notice the door ding on the passenger side, the scuffs next to the key holes, the chipped windshield, and the oil leak that was well hidden. You see them now because you stopped and inspected VERY VERY closely. Nobody else sees that stuff when you drive by. People do nothing but give you compliments on that brand new beauty of a car, but you just sit there and fume at how it looks like a big rolling pile of poo.
Nobody notices the little things like you do, and that is a life lesson I, as well as many here have learned. I hope you don't give up. I hope you turn out great and end up loving life. It's the whole point right?
.
When I started I had quite a waist to hip ratio of .885 (.9 being optimal for a males) 31 waist and 35 hips, ... now it's at .79 (with optimal being .7 for females) 30 waist 38 hips... Not perfect or even great by any means but I get TONS of looks at my butt from men. Even cis women comment that they're jealous of my body. Friends describe me as a gymnastics type.
What I'm getting at is that you don't need a .7 perfect waist to hip ratio to pass. Don't beat yourself up if you don't get there. Just live with what you get and dress to hide your flaws if you have them.
BTW I've noticed .. you're far too hard on yourself and you worry way too much. Lighten up hon :)
I wore skin tight jeans and high heels to work today so I was about 6 foot with legs as long as anything. I have 'boy' hips. Every woman in my Dept called me a bitch   Two of them were going to the staff gym at lunch time and said to me 'We are going to get cute hips like yours - bitch'

And cindy has officially won the interweb. Grass is always greener on the other side. I would give my... well I will, but it won't count, you know whats for a tiny starting physique like you have. You know how many women would LOVE losing hip fat? We (us non-cis) want every last drop of femininity we can get. Most women I know would suck every last fat cell out of their body, besides their breasts and butt, without hesitation. Own that ;) make them jealous, I am!
And there is nothing good about giving up.. Nothing.
Hang in there sweetie, you have got so many positive things to look forward to. If it were a foregone conclusion that you could not whatsoever gain some hips, you still would still look great, imagine if you're wrong and you get a super caboose? All I know is, it's way too early for you to conclude that you are in any way, shape, or form screwed. at 2 months HRT the only thing that I had change was that I was peeing 10 times a day because of the spiro. it takes lots of time and you likely can't even see the changes because you look at yourself every day.
Seriously, consider it like a hair cut... When you hang out with your friend every day over the course of a year, you never really notice their hair grow, but once they chop it all off, holy cow it's night and day... Gradual change is very difficult to track without significant data analysis. Your face alone is already feminine, makeup and your done, you already have long hair, check... let this change happen, it will take quite some time, but right now, there is no reason to fret.
Small hips = mini skirts = high heels =men drooling = big smile = female friends getting jealous = a good laugh and hang out time with friends.
edited ~ incorrect information. Sorry!!
.
the point I'm trying to make is, she has gone through puberty... full maturation. You still haven't even had HRT in your system long enough for any hormone effects to really take place.. Give them some time, you'll be undeniably cute. order up some basic makeup and see what kind of effect that has for you. Me with makeup is waaaaayyyyyy different than me without.
People look at your face when they are deciding between male and female. Face, then voice, then mannerisms, then body... at least that's my understanding.
HeatherR, I'm not sure where you got your information about that model, but it's incorrect. Her name is Agyness Deyn, and I've seen her measurements quoted as either 31 or 32 bust, 23 or 24 waist, and 34 or 35 hips. I respect what you're trying to do for muuu, but using wrong information doesn't help. Agyness's measurements prove muuu's point: Agyness may not have super-wide hips, but the rest of her is even more tiny.
That's not to take away from what you're trying to say; check out this article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1358557/Why-gone-apple-shaped-womens-dream-figure.html (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1358557/Why-gone-apple-shaped-womens-dream-figure.html)
According to that, average women's waist and hip sizes are 30 and 36, respectively. The hourglass shape is more of a rarity now than ever. We trans girls envy it and feel down on ourselves because we don't have it and can't get it. But many (if not most) cis women are in the same boat.
wow, you are absolutely correct. I used the first info I found and didn't think to fact check. I will remove that, as the point is rather invalid using misleading information. My sincerist apologies.
Hows about this one...

She is undeniably good looking, and granted YES, she actually has very pronounced curves, but this is more of an exercise than anything

Measurements isn't everything... depends shape on where the "numbers" are coming from.
Like, I'm pretty flat, but really wide, making it way harder for me to get wide enough hips, because they don't follow the scheme of my upper body.
"Flat hips" aren't going to get you clocked. They may be a feature on you that you hate but guess what... it's extremely rare for any female gender to be completely happy about everything on your body and your face. You are so eager to tear yourself down without even giving yourself a chance. You want to be perfect and the cold hard reality is, NOBODY is, not even cis women.
I completely understand your frustrations regarding hips. If you don't think you can ever truly accept yourself as you currently are then there are options and solutions do exist. HRT will definitely help, if you allow yourself to gain weight. Exercising the lower body will also help. Fat grafting and butt implants may be very effective if HRT and exercise don't do what you were hoping. The fact that these options do exist should give you some hope. Give HRT a little time and patience. Try out some hips pads until HRT kicks in or until you can afford a surgical route.
HRT and exercise helped me. But I'm still not happy about my shape, because I'm a bldy perfectionist. That is one of the worst afflictions to curse me, forget GID! Anyway, I'm having some fat grafting done next month. I'm hoping this will improve the width of my hips.
Your situation is not a forlorn one. Trust me, I know.

The first photos looked doctored.
ugh, you girls... of course they are doctored. and of course you're looking for any and every reason to clock someone... fact of the matter is she has a pretty much perfect 1.0 waist to hip ratio... lol I'm done.. this is pointless.
The whole point is that the first picture is meant to invoke a human being's natural first response to look at the face. It is how we identify someone. Once there was nothing to identify, we then scan further, seeing what we want to see. The second picture is to show, as an example, that you indeed recognize the face and there is no way you could view her in any other way.
Perhaps using a different person for the example would have been better for this particular example, I felt it enhanced the point I was trying to make. Fact of the matter is, we are a lot more critical than most because we have researched and nitpicked, and stressed, and done very drastic things to change people's perception of small details on our body and faces.
If I may use Alaina as an example, nobody would have guessed her as female before HRT, but now? I don't see a speck of male there.. not one bit. She has done her homework and worked very hard on her presentation and it shows. Most cis have no idea what their waist to hip ratio is. Most cis don't look scan a body from head to toe to prove someone doesn't pass. That is our eternal insecurity. It comes with the territory.
Probably been said I just skimmed through the thread but you're not in need of wider hips, you're in need of a slimmer waist and proper lower back/glutes/buttlocks fat connection...
EDIT: and BTW Heather is right you gender people from the nose up... Having no waist, no hips and wide shoulders will not get you clocked.

First of all, thank you so much for the compliments. Second, you are so, so right. I look at myself all the time and ask how anybody in their right mind could see me as anything but trans. We are beyond insecure with our looks because we see the same flat chin and hanging mandible bone that NOBODY really knows to look for unless they're trans themselves or they've been around enough trans people to know what to look for. Trust me, waist to hip is pretty much not gonna clock anybody. I wish i could redo my entire rib cage all the freaking time because I know what to look for... meanwhile cis girls act like they want to kill me when I say something about hating my body.

Uhm, I don't know. I always look for head to shoulder ratio, hip to shoulder ratio, ribcage to shoulder and hip ratio and I guess waist to hip ratio. That's unless they're really pretty and you're just drawn to their face.
Like, even if the face is alright, the rest of the body has an impact too. Pretty face and no hips would look quite strange... and to be honest I've never seen a girl like that.
See my above post.
Most people don't look at that crap. They make a blind judgement and that's it. Most people just assume that if you look female and sound female, you're female. You only do it because you're obsessed about it like many of us are (myself included).
And btw, I have seen women with a pretty face and no hips. And when I say no hips... I mean none. As in you could balance a marble on them if she was laying on her side. Google images it, you'll see em.
Lastly, most women dress to their assets hon. Lots of women hide the fact they don't have hips by wearing tops with a loose bottom half, or with a shirt that has the elastic at the bottom so you can adjust where the largest part of the hips are, and by doing that make the rest of the shirt loose fitting, giving the illusion of having hips. There are a few tips to wear your hips rather than show your hips. There's a reason women try stuff on before buying it.
Look, the reality is that muuu doesn't just suffer from gender dysphoria like the rest of us do; she also has a serious case of body dysmorphia. It's a cognitive dysfunction. Nothing that you do or say or show her will change her mind, because her perspective is not a rational one and therefore won't be receptive to reason alone. It's like anorexia (which, apparently, she also had): Anorexics have a severely distorted perception of their body image, and no matter how thin they are, they always think that they're not thin enough. What they see in the mirror is literally warped to them, the same way that their way of thinking is warped. Give them examples of attractive, famous healthy-weight or curvy women, and they dismiss your examples without another thought.
But an unhealthy body image is NOT at the core of anorexia; it's a symptom of a much larger and more complex problem. I've recently read that one common explanation is that many/most anorexics feel totally out of control of their own lives, so they obsess about one thing over which they feel like they have some control. Everything else may be out of their hands, but at least they can always refuse/decline/avoid eating. muuu says that she's at a fairly healthy weight now, thanks to some treatment for her anorexia, but what seems clear is that the original problem(s) at the core of her anorexia have not been resolved and are now manifesting hand-in-hand with her gender dysphoria. Please take a look at her other posts here and in other threads. If you read closely, doesn't everything sound like the words of someone who feels totally out of control?
Frankly, what she needs is not so much the support of fellow trans people on a forum like this. What she needs is to find a way to get professional psychological/psychiatric help again. Otherwise, she'll just continue down a dark path with her dysfunctional thoughts, a path that will likely end in tragedy.
I've always wondered what the Princess of Monaco's hip/shoulder measurements were.

If she were misgendered she'd merely only need to open her mouth to dismiss all doubt. She not only looks gorgeous, she sounds gorgeous too. I'd never heard of her. Thanks for that.
