Hi!!!!
I am looking for other tg people, both ftm and mtf, in Oregon for possible meet-up...
Anybody?
Don't be shy and say hi!!! :-)
Andrea
I have met Amdrea. I got lost so we did not get to talk much. She is nice and I like her.
Thanks for your kind words, Janet. We talked about trying to find others here in Oregon, so I finally found the courage to start this thread. Let's see who shows up aside from you and I.
Nice to talk to you again. :-)
Love,
Andrea
As the Whos of Whoville once said, "We are here! We are here!"
I live in Tigard currently. Just starting on the road, but I would love to go to a meetup.
The Pacific Northwest is a wonderful place! I call it home too. I know there have been formal meetups here. Search about for them.
Hi Amdrea, I organized a couple of susans meetups here in Portland in the fall before I entered my busy season at work. It was nice getting to know better some of the wonderful nw folks who are on susans. If you organize something it helps if its free or very cheap, and has good transit access.-Maddie
Please don't exclude those of us in the Seattle area. We don't mind a small drive to meet friends. ;D
I have always wanted to move to the Pacific Northwest and I do plan to do so someday! I love evergreen treees, I lovelovelove the rain, and the whole place just looks so fantastically magical! I'm also something of a self-style environmentalist but I am prob pretty conservative on these matters considering I come from the Northeast. I'd love to live in eaither Portland or seattle and of course it is also close to san fran which is another place I love and my second fave football team are the niners. Hopefully Seattle will get their BB ball team back I used to also love the Super Sonics.
I think Felix is in the Portland area too.

If you want to come to Portland Joanna, please think of me. It would be great to meet IRL and I could help you get established here.
Better be careful what you say I may just take you up on that offer. Prob not for at least a couple years though until I escape this cycle of poverty I'm stuck in, which I fully intend to escape. I did once. And I get rich. I'll do it again.
Hi! I'm new here, and I am in Idaho, near to Ontario. By the way, the Veteran's Administration in Boise is helping me in terms of hormones and counseling services. The Disabled American Veterans usually run a volunteer-staffed Van Service to transport disadvantaged Vets to and from their appointments. Here in Boise we also have a (brand new!) LGBT Support Group once a week. I can't travel too far but I'd like to correspond with whoever is interested. Im 57, and on my second go-round with hormones and Andy blockers. I am set and determined to get thru this time and complete SRS in about two years (sorry grrls, but the VA is not... YET doing the SRS surgeries). Gotta save my pennies!! Thank Gawd fer soda cans, right???
Hey NTY,
There are bunches of us TG folks in Orygun and even the North Coast region has a PFLAG group and an associated Trans support group. We have previously met in Astoria and Rainier. Portland, with the bumper sticker advice to "Keep Portland Weird!" has numbers of LGBTQ events and organizations that support we trans people. And then there is the new State Law regarding trans medical care requirements for insurance providers here. We have the first open and out Trans Mayor--Stu Rasmussen and I am an open and out public official myself. You are welcome to PM me and I am happy to share what I know about ecotopia, wetlandia, or the great NW rainforest network of progressives in action.

I too would be interested in meeting others in the area, especially transitioning mtf ts, just because we have a lot in common.
I have just begun going out in public as myself for a couple months now. At this point I am essentially fulltime everywhere but work, and I'm working with HR to develop HR guidelines for coming out on the job. about five months on E.
Don't forget we've got Portland Pride next week. I will be marching in the parade for the first time this year. Pride is a lot of fun in the Rose City.

Hey there CharleeGrrl, I just wanted to welcome you to the site, and thank you for your information. If you get a chance, please post a little introduction bio. We have plenty of vets on the site, from many countries.
Should we get together in PDX?? Let's do it!!!! :-)
I'm in. Just say when, any evening but Wednesday or Friday, when I'm at the Q-Center.
So fun to hear about all of you good people in our neighborhood! I too plan to be attending and likely marching in Portland's Gay Pride parade and events. I imagine that BRO, Q center, TransActive and NW Gender Alliance will have marching contingents and booths at the waterfront............. I'll be that somewhat passable and too tall Tessa in the mix;-)

Great! I will send you a PM!!!
Andrea
PS What is the Q-Center?
I am an older Vet that lives in Portland and have a gender therapist at the Portland Va. Not sure where I'm heading but at least I have been in therapy for the past six months.
So, did y'all get together last week? I'm also in Portland. Unfortunately, I was out of town for a few days during Pride. I would be curious to know what you all are planning if you intend to get together.
Miharu
I marched in the parade with a friend and my dog Emnet and carried a banner for Astoria. It was wonderful! I was there with my wife, daughter and friends with a huge crowd. I found the Trans active and NW Gender Alliance booths but did not find or maybe recognize any of our transgender friends from Susan's. I notice the Rose City T Girls are active and the Portland Q Center seems another great resource. And remember to please "Keep Portland Weird" 8)
Happy to hear about any future get togethers.
Tessa James
I wish I could have went, but without my car (broken) or money, I am pretty much home bound.

I marched in Pride for the first time this year. Well, technically I danced the entire time. Had a great time, what wonderful energy. It was especially heartwarming when one of the transgender or genderqueer parade goers would recognize that my boyfriend and I are both trans, and their faces would light up in the hugest smiles.
Will be glad to come to any event someone wants to host. Got too much on my plate right now to play hostess, but maybe later in the summer.
HI Oregonians,
The Q Center at 4115 N Mississippi Ave Portland, OR 97217 (503) 234-7837 features a: MTF Peer Support Weekly Group (7:00pm to 9:00pm) next meeting Friday June 28th. I am considering coming in from the coast to check it out. I was at the Q center this week for the first time to check out the Bi/Pansexual discussion group. The Q center has some great programs and wonderful volunteers. Hthr seems to know more? Thanks for marching Maddie, you rock!
