Well, my name is Bree, named Bryan at birth. I live in the midwest of the usa.
I'm 20 right now, mtf, and am still in conflict with my family about it.
I didn't start feeling like this until i was about a year ago, and so my older sister (MD PhD) keeps telling me that because i've not shown signs of this since childhood, i'm not really trans. My mom is a devout conservative christian, and says it's wrong based on religion (which i feel that the religion does not oppose it but rather the people picking out what they want from the book).
I have been self medicating, though i know how risky it is, how irresponsible i must be to make passes behind the drug regulations laws on prescription medicine, and how expensive it is, so i decided with a lot of difficulty to stop today, after having been on them for 8 months without check ups or physician supervision.
I sit at a 38aa/36a size, but until I go through the proper channels, i'm not going to risk being unsupervised. I know this will take a long time, and most of the changes will revert, and it makes me very sad that i have to give up the progress i did make.
Anyways, it's not much of an introduction, but i do want to ask. How will stopping after 8 months affect me? How will it affect my progress after i am able to restart under a physician?

Well, I have a PhD, MD and several other degrees and Associations and I'm a trans* woman and I went FT at 59 and am now living fully happily and totally as me after a life of misery and regret.
Stuff happens. I knew for ever but just couldn't, then I could, so I did. Thank Goddess.
At 20 you have your life in front so get ready to live it. Find a therapist and get referral and help. The past HT and interruption won't matter a damn to your end effect.
I will not make any comment about religion, that seems to be a hang up of people from the USA, they also seem to have problems in assigning toilets to people for some bizarre reason.
I'm a woman. I was born with defects, they are being corrected.

As i was reading them i went back to modify the post to take out the dosages and saw they were already gone. :P

About the religion, yes it's a really huge hang up in the usa, especially in the midwest and south. My family isn't even from where i live now, my mother grew up in china when communism went out of hand. I believe myself to be christian, however. And that...garners a lot of disdain from the rest of my family who are also christian but belive being trans is a sin. Then theres the lgbt who hate christians so much that they hate me as well for believing i am one. It's a mess.
Thankfully, my boyfriend, though is atheist, doesn't oppose christianity itself but rather usage of any religion to oppress specific groups of people. And he comes to church with me.

Hi Bree. As for the signs, some of us are really good at hiding things and wearing full body suits. I'm sure if you think back there are mental signs and feelings.
Well i volunteered to dress in my upperclassman's pink halter dress for a high school skit during my freshman year for high school when nobody else wanted to and the skit group was out of gg's. it felt a bit exposing but i enjoyed it. The others were quite vehemently against wearing such a thing. but the dress felt nice. Glitter. Glitter everywhere. And wearing my sister's old white dress as a three or four year old. And dancing around while my family recorded it. Can't forget stuffing my shirt with balled up socks at night. But idk if it was apparent.

i had to pretty often during childhood but afterwards most people knew and i didn't have to correct anybody.

Some transgendered persons realize the gender incongruities from an early age. Many realize them with the onset of puberty. Many don't recognize their gender issues, or confuse them with sexual issues, until such time as they are overwhelmed with dysphoria.
