After getting mis-gendered in skirts. After working very hard to get used to the idea that I'll never pass that well. After being told by my mom that, after nearly 5 months of HRT she didn't see anything different...
Today I'm standing at a store with a big ole' fan in my hand since my fan broke tonight and I am rocking androgyny. Hair (see avatar) in a pony tail, women's pants but my shirt is an old geek "Cat Bus" shirt from my male days. Over this shirt I've got a hoodie on for its pockets. No makeup, no bra. My breasts are developing but, well, the hoodie I was wearing cloaked them. And lo, the clerk at the closed checkout across from me says, "I can help you over here miss."
Edit: Angels (I can't spell when an alternate word is also a correct word). Sang.
I've been feeling like crap lately. Many decisions that I thought would be a good, well, you know that plot device where a character wishes for one thing and they get what they asked for only twisted? Life has been a LOT like that for me since February. I was on a little upswing before that clerk got my gender right but OH! That's so what I needed! :)
Congratulations!
:) Grats.
Actually after my endo doing something similar to me when I was going in andro (well, male shirt and shoes, but jeans were female), I wonder whether we do not sometimes get clocked precisely because we try to be overtly perfect in our clothing and style. Sort of the idea that:
- skirt = has to be female = check her out = spot that something doesn't quite feel right = look for male clues = get clocked
- (pseudo-)andro = forces looking at the person instead of just at "female bits" = body fat distribution and posture dominate = female = locked in brain and not reverted despite now looking for female bits
Awesome! It's a good feeling isn't it?
I've drifted into andro the past few months.I got a stye and laid off eye liner, mascara and eye shadow. My nails were badly split so I'd been off polish to.
Im glad you got that little lift you needed, I still get called sir from time to time, and I give myself a once over after they say it and im like "really? wtf, where did that come from"
That's wonderful Misato, thanks for sharing :)
Always makes me happy to read experiences like this.

Lovely.
That is a great story :)
I wouldn't get too hung up about your mom. When somebody sees you everyday or even just a lot, they will have a hard/impossible time perceiving changes slowly unfolding before their eyes. I kinda took a break from Susans for a while, like I do, and I now do see a difference between how your avatar looks compared to how I remember it looking before. I know avatars aren't the best measuring stick, but still, I can tell there have been some very nice changes for you. Please be patient and stay positive :).

I agree with this. I think your latest avatar photo shows how much you have progressed. Honestly, I would "miss" you without missing a beat. :)
