Title: Okay.
Post by: Emo on February 04, 2014, 01:21:02 AM
So i started hrt less than a week ago. Thursday to be exact. And im finding that im hetting a lot more changes than i expected this early on.
So far:
-more feminine butt
-hips rotated back

Is this normal for these changes to happen this early on?

I just didnt expect it to happen so quick.

My friend says the soreness in the midsection is the same as right before a period. Is it going to start hurting soon? >__>

YMMV. Drink water, your AA will dehydrate you and give cramps. Nothing to be frightened of.

It levels out after a few months when you get used to the feelings.  They just become a normal and wonderful part of your life.

HRT, the gift that keeps on giving. I've been noticing changes pretty much from the weekend I started hrt. Seem to get new ones every week too.

Like everyone else is saying, drink lots of water & keep yourself hydrated.

Just wait, your boobs are going to be so sore! :) It's all going to be worth it though.

I've had quick physical changes too. Congrats on starting.  ;D

Cramps suck. Muscles that won't release even if you want to move them in a different direction. Painful.

And yes, they are likely due to dehydration.

Also, yes, boob and nipple pain will likely come.

Pain as in "ouch I have a hangnail" or "Ouch, I just got stabbed in the gut with a rusted spoon"?

A little from column a and a little from column b. Depends on what you do to them or what you walk into.

And thanks for the sentiments and congratulatory posts guys. ^__^

If you are having severe cramps it would probably be a good idea to consult your Dr. They may need to adjust your dosage

Excuse my confusion, as you quoted me talking about breasts and not cramps.

The Internet can be imperfect sometimes.

Breast cramps have been quite uncommon for me. In fact I can't remember having one. The muscles seem to be fading faster there than anywhere else and replaced with soft fatty tissue and odd feeling glandular buds. You really need muscles to cramp.

Congrats on your developments!

Its ok. And idk what anyone else was talking about but i was talking about belly cramps. Cis girls without a uterus even have cramps so i was kind of wondering if trans women get them too.

And thanks. :D

Post by: Tori on February 07, 2014, 08:29:24 PM
I have not heard of belly cramps as a common side effect of HRT, but then, I have not heard of such quick results in one's posterior as you have reported, nor have I heard of the hips and pelvis readjusting so quickly... so, as they say, YMMV.

If cis men can have sympathetic labor pains, I suppose what you describe about stomach cramps is also possible, although, without ovaries, a uterus, and a monthly female cycle, it seems significantly less likely.

In general, if a MTF has excessive and intermittent cramps, it is likely a sign of dehydration or other complications not related to a hormonal cycle. It would be worth mentioning to a doctor, and not a normal side effect of transition.

Oh i didnt feel it. Not yet anyways.
My friend says i could be sensitive to estrogen so that could be why im progressing so fast.
I do remember feeling my chest when i was younger and finding little bulbs of something, but i didnt know what they were at the time. They sorta felt like breast buds from what i remember though.

It could also be that ive been massaging for a few weeks now.

Breast tissue growth and nipple stiffness/tenderness are often among the first estrogen induced changes MTFs notice.

The growing butt and change in alignment are far less common.

I see.
So my butt isnt supposed to change yet.

If you have spent any time on these boards, and from your post count it sure seems like you have, and if you have even read this very thread, you would have come across the term YMMV.

YMMV means, "Your mileage may vary."

When it comes to changes, there is no, "Supposed to" there is only what is more common and what is less common. Some people hardly react at all to estrogen. That is uncommon. Some people notice some slight budding in the breasts within a week or two, which is much more common.

Another common thing is enthusiasm from starting HRT to cause a transitioner to become hyper-aware of their own body, simply because they are now actively looking for changes. Some of these changes one notices are indeed changes and some are things that were there all along, but the transitioner was never self-aware enough to notice until after starting HRT.

It is also common for someone to start standing, sitting and walking differently after starting HRT. Why? Because the inner woman has been released. This, over time will probably change the size and shape of muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Your body is likely already going through some drastic changes, as is your mind. Over months and years, these changes will likely compound in ways you can only imagine right now. Or it may not happen at all, but that is far less likely.

One way to confirm these changes is by measurement. Get measured every week or month. For best results have someone else measure you, as the temptation to pull your own tape a little tighter each week, may throw off the results, if you measure yourself. Weigh yourself weekly. Document the findings. Photograph yourself monthly or weekly. Keep a journal to track the evolution of your state of mind.

So, what you are experiencing is neither supposed to happen, nor is it not supposed to happen. It is just uncommon and in your case, undocumented, so the likelihood that it is your enthusiasm, causing you to be self aware of things that were already there, rather than rapid and drastic changes is statisticly more likely.

I hope that clarifies things.

Just you wait for what is to come! It gets rather wild for most of us within the first few months.

Aloha,
Tori

That explains a lot. I know my breast size hasnt changed too much i dont think. Unless the massaging several weeks before hrt helped any.
But my butt im sure has changed. It wasnt so... Fatty... And i usually felt muscle. So thats changed.

As for my walking, i spose youre right. I could want to walk a certain way opposed to my "normal" way of walking.

Thankfully a good friend gave me the same advice. I measured everything so ill be able to check back and see my progress.

Measurements have really given me peace of mind, as I am shrinking and softening in all places but my chest and I have the numbers to confirm it.

For me, deep tissue massage of my chest before HRT really softened the whole area... it took a month or two to fully tighten back up. Now, I would not dare go as deep as it would really HURT. Too bad. But I can still massage them, and it is getting rather enjoyable. :)

As for your butt? Cool! Women's fat goes to the chest the hips, the thighs and the butt. It is not out of the realm of possibility. I have noticed quite a bit of softening, but I am shrinking there for now, so I suspect I am losing muscle mass.

Nice.

And ouch. Remind me not to go too deep when my chest grows out.
I hope i get softer soon.
I havent been able to eat as much so i might lose a bit of weight too. :D

'Grats Emo on starting hormone treatment :)

I found the boob pain was a constant for almost 2 months.  Since then it has only been short bursts.  They're still very sensitive though, & hurt like hell if I bash into anything, or if I get hugged too hard ...

Enjoy the changes  ;D

... & I'm a bit envious of your butt growth.  My hips have widened a very little, but nowt at the rear   :-\

Thank you. :)

Lol. It mostly just hurts when touched. Havent gotten bashed yet. Hope i dont.

As for the rear, my hips havent widened so much but its become rounder like a girls butt should be. Im still very straight in my body figure so its nothing to brag about.
