I just ran out of t blockers a few days ago. Cant get anymore for at least a month, though I have plenty of estro left. Ive noticed my sex drive is climbing again which is annoying, while some acne is coming back as well. Any suggestions on how to cut back on testosterone without blockers for about a month??? I just had my 6 months a while back and I really dont want any progress to be lost :( I self med so its not a rx issue. Help on keeping T low???
Why not just get a script? Spiro is like $12 at Rite-Aid....
for one, Im dead broke. Secondly my therapist doesnt think I need a letter to see an endo, and since I dont have insurance it costs a boatload to see her and talk to her. If I could get a script id be super excited. but i cant.
I've done the math, and for the cost it takes to buy HRT from the black market / internet (something like $160 a month), you pay the same for the office visit (since visits are usually 3 month intervals), tests, and HRT. Not only that, but everything except the HRT can be put off as far as cost... so you can look at paying your bill next month when you have money.
If I were you I'd call my doc and ask if I can up my estradiol dose for a month to compensate for lack of Spiro. But you can't get a hold of ten dollars for Spiro?

Ok. Let's start there. Time to find some kind of medical professional who can help you with this. You might not think you can afford it, but in reality, you can't afford not to.
Your average family doc, if you told him or her what's going on, would be able to prescribe spiro for you immediately; it's a common blood pressure medication that they'll be very familiar with. It's also extremely cheap from legitimate sources, so as Alaina pointed out, if you get a prescription and buy it from your local chain pharmacy, you'll be able to use that spare money for doctor visits and things like that. Self medication is expensive!
Rethink the economics of basic transition. Seeking proper medical care is not as expensive as you might think,
even without insurance. Most sources for medication online without prescriptions are just money-making scams and should not be considered a cheap alternative. You're throwing your money (and potentially your life) away by doing that. Saving money is just not good reason to go online for this stuff, because you're being taken advantage of.

I used to self-med and then went to the doctor and the first thing he said to me was, you're going to save so much money. Hell, I have never paid for an office visit cause I'm a broke b!tch, nor a test, just the HRT. That is $19 for the E, $22 for the spiro, and $15 for Prometrium. Really, the P isn't needed I just wanted to try it, and it does help me sleep. The doctor will only do it for a year though as he said long-term use of P will and can lead to a high-risk of breast cancer.
So, $40 a month. It cost something like a $75 self-medding and that was at a low, low dose. Besides all the other advantages of seeing a doctor and getting on proper treatment, it just saves money. At least in Philly/NJ.
Quit self-medicating and go to the damn doctor. I'm doing that right now with no insurance on a low-income job and still have money left over for some extra goodies. Why anyone can't wait and use some common sense is beyond me.
I know dead broke doesn't help much when it comes to travel decisions, but if you are near to a major city there may be an orgnization geared towards helping TG's such as Whitman-Walker in DC or Callen-Lord in NYC. Their fees tend to be more than nominal
I've been off my AA as well as E a few times over the past 6 years thanks to my WTF moments. It often took a week or more to notice any real changes. First sign was oily skin and stinkin like a guy again. Diet and stress can exasperate these affects. My face was more of an oil field not oil glands thanks to a poor diet.

Or just find a Dr. Yin Yang in any Chinatown for like a $50 visit. They'll go through the motions, a tap here, a stethoscope there, then write you up for what you need. Show a copy of a previous prescription or receipt stub.
