Title: My upcoming endo appointment should be interesting.
Post by: Mariah on August 08, 2016, 02:28:18 PM
My endo has done his best due to my health conditions to keep my hormones slightly below 200 yet on many occasions he has to adjust the dosage down due to the fact it came up higher than he wanted to see. The previous 2 testing cycles that were what he was looking for and the result is my having been on the same dosage for roughly a year. Now my estradiol level jumped close 90 points higher. 87.3 points to be exact. Considering the difficulties and getting a dose he was happy with took awhile and now all of a sudden this higher number again I can't help but wonder what he will do now. I guess I will find out on in a couple weeks what he will do, but there is no doubt in my mind part of what he will do will be lowering my dosage again. In the meantime it's a waiting game that definitely has me wondering.  Hugs

Hello Mariah, I am new to hrt, just 7 weeks in and yet to have any follow up blood work done. Thus I am ignorant of the impact of your numbers. The tangible hormone impacts that I am dealing with are all emotional at this point. I haven't cried this often and for such relatively insignificant things in as long as I can remember! My question is if your e number increase is hitting you emotionally, potential concerns for future health risks or just tracking for a "want to be in range" number. Good luck dealing with the waiting game patience, it seems our trans life has far more waiting game that "Normal" life. Hugs, Anne

Are you on pills?

Unless the endo is taking the test at the same difference in time from when you take the pills each test, the results aren't comparable. I took the test about five hours earlier than I normally would one day, (which was only a few hours after I took my dose) and the count was like 300 higher than the usual reading.

It seems like the endo is being very anal about a measurement that is difficult to get consistent readings on.

Look at the steep rise and drop in the graphs on this page http://transascity.org/sublingual-versus-oral-estrogen/ to see what I'm talking about.

Injections every 10 days right now. My Endo likes keeping near but below 200 which didn't happen this time. I don't like how tight he is keeping it, but it is his call.

Anne, hormones affect each of us differently. Often many will be much more emotion especially at first, but lots of factors play into that too. I haven't seen a difference emotionally with that level. It's been about 10 to 15 points lower than that before. Each time he lowered the dose. Ranges differ based on what doctor's want. Hugs

I had my appointment with the endo on July 25th and my estrogen had jumped to 484 pg/ml from 128.8. However I had stopped patches and went to injections and had an injection four days before the blood work. Around August 5th he did call when he got the results of the blood work and allowed me to stay at 1 ml seeing how I had the shot four days prior to the blood work. My testosterone measured 0.1 ng/ml. So, I am definitely in the female range. I am thinking he might lower my estrogen if I get high estrogen reading the next time around which is in October. This stuff sure works if you take it. I get my shots at the clinic every two weeks so they keep my endo informed about my progress or if I miss an appointment. I have not missed any appointments since going on injections back in May.

Hi Mariah,

He has you best interest at heart. I suspect he will again adjust your dose after October.

I have no doubt, but this certainly makes it more difficult for him and with my SRS so close it may change how everything related to hormones goes in that last small period before SRS and after until we test again. Hugs

I had my Endo appointment on Tuesday. Nothing is being changed before my SRS. Spiro I will be tapered off and my dose lowered a little due to being post surgical. From there will depend on how the numbers come back 3 months after restarting. Hugs
