Hi Folks,
I think it may be time to begin another road trip. Some nonsense about promises to visit some strange short woman and friends in Florida. I may be heading south into California first, then east through Arizona and from there to Florida and as usual I don't know where from there. I could head up the eastern seaboard or head to Missouri, Kansas, Colorado then home. Or I might not. You know how wishy washy I can be. I've told my sister I may be gone a short time or a long time. I have no appointments at all in March and April. Once I throw my stuff in the pickup I could be off to who knows where. Know anyone along that general outline that may need a hug??

@ Laurie: A few of my very best road trips did not have a firm schedule or reserved lodging... in some parts of those trips I just took the road that looked interesting without a final destination in mind. Along the way I always enjoyed exploring little towns, eating a local diners and finding small mom & pop bakeries to get my fix of pastries and coffee. I trust that you will have fun!!!

What you describe is pretty much the way I like to travel. During daylight hour I am apt to be on a 2 lane road or a gravel or a dirt road going in the general direction I am heading. At night I'll hit the interstate to cover more ground and find a rest stop.

@ Laurie: several years ago I went on a 4800 mile road trip on old 2 lane highways and roads and was only on the Interstate Highways for less than 100 miles... you can sure see a lot more of the country than if I had stayed on the Interstates.
It was sad to see the small towns that have been bypassed by the Interstates... some of them were almost ghost towns with closed gas stations and closed and vacant buildings. However I met some very nice folks in towns like that and found some interesting small shops and small restaurants... they were grateful for my business and they were most friendly to have travelers stop in. You are right about finding rest stops and perhaps gas stations off of the beaten path... so I was very careful.

Yes, the small towns are nice to see and usually have good food. The sights are so much better too. I tend to mosey during the day turning here and there but heading in the general direction I want to go. That first road trip covered 8003 miles in a day over a month.
I am near Colorado Springs and we have a spare bedroom. I never turn down a hug. You are welcome to drop by any time!

I'm at the tail end of a nearly month long road trip. The only fixed date in the trip is tomorrow, when I get an orchiectomy. Then I'm driving home. I'll likely post stories from the road in the next week while I'm recovering.

Thanks everyone. Yep 2.0 has started and stalled for a few days by a trap laid out for me by Jessica an Michelle. I'll resume the jouney when I figure out how to get free again. There have been new and improved security measures since I escaped last time. Among them a watchful guard has been employed. Don't worry, I. Will think of something....

This is embarrassing. I've fallen for one of the newly reworks baited traps Michelle has invested in. Using cookies for bait should be illegal. Anyway I was retrieved only to be secured in her apartment, Yes you guessed it eye bolts and straps, new security system, even a new guard that goes by the moniker of Robyn. No not that Robyn, Batman is nowhere to be seen.. ::) Even new locks. So far escape has eluded me once again. I must say that I was fed well last night with what was possibly the best seasoned and prepare fillet and shrimp with tender young broccoli, garlic mashed potatoes, and mushroom couscous. Oh couscous are non dyed fish eggs I think, Not too bad actually.
Anyway I am still here. When the newly hired guard is not looking I have been working on the first lock. No luck with it yet. This may take a bit longer than I thought....

Hi Folks,
Yes as terrible as it is I still find myself in bondage. This morning I was forced to down a cup of dark elixir, and was fed some strange corn flat breads. Then I was once again collared and whisked off to that odd ritual place again to be put on public display once again. The ritual lasted only about an hour be the ooowwws and ahhhhs lasted somewhat long as many of her friends came by for a look. It was about feeding time again so four of us went off insearch of food. I was beginning to feel like the Main course when we found the intended location. I was served some sort of meaty sandwich call a Rubic? no.... Reuben with some chopped plant mixed with a milky looking liquid. I think they called it a cold claw or something. There was also a tuber dish that appeared cook and chopped with a creamy paste holding the form together. It appears they even left some of the red peelings on it and bits oe some friend meat mixed in. A Potable sallyed.. Once the midday meal was over and the gossip done we Returned to Michelle's cave where I continue to work on the locks. The first I have figured out and am firguring out the second but I'm not quite able to work it just yet.

Well folks it's Tuesday.
I did not think it was going to take me this long to escape Michelle's clutches. I've got my escape plans made and was ready to make my escape yesterday but my plan was thwarted by the arrival of Jessica ( Michelle's new minion). Apparently a new convert in Michelle's evil scheme. Michelle had plans that included electro shock behavior modification classes. It does not bode well for me. I need to escape soon.
I was turned over to Jessica for an hour or so. Jessica is now as evil as her mentor. She took me in tow for a public showing where one of the most harrowing events in my life occurred. I was secured in a chair where I was subjected to some kind of paint application to my face. I believe it was called "getting a makeover" I caught a glimpse at Jessica in the chair next to mine, having the same thing done to her. In this large scale living area I understand such face painting is considered to be an enjoyable pampered experience. By the smile on Jessica's face, one could assume that she was enjoying it. I on the other hand, was in distress over the ordeal.

We then returned to Michelle's place where she had apparently returned from her class. (Did I say it does not bode well for me?). Anyway it was decided that we were to go into a large dwelling area, (named San Frantic go or something like that) via some sort of rail system, (oddly they called it Bart, This may be an AI entity) or order to display me off to a wider audience. ( The way I understood it is there is some kind of cutest pet contest going on and I have been progressing up in the ranks very quickly. I assume it has something to do with my uniqueness) Once there Jessica and Michelle seemed at odds as to which way to go. I was made to walk quite some distance seemingly always uphill. This rapidly exhausted my emaciated body (I've barely had enough to eat while incarcerated here). After what seemed like hours we went into another one of those public eateries where I was given water to drink and a plate of strangely shaped noodles with portions of meat. Something called veal Parmesan all covered in a red sauce and melted cheese. As with the last this fare was tasty.
Once the meal was complete It was more wandering around the village where Michele and Jessica indulged themselves in what they called "shopping". Shopping consists of wandering around aimlessly and endlessly looking at products they have no intentions of purchasing. Eventually they tired of "shopping" and we went below ground in search of another of those AIs who was also called Bart and walked what must have been miles back to Michelle's dwelling. By this time I was completely exhausted and disoriented.
Oh, oh, I have to tell you about the forlorn waif that Michelle has taken pity upon and is letting use my room temporarily. The first issue she has is a misguided idea that my room is her's. It is most certainly not! Everyone who is anyone, knows the room was purchased with me in mind and specially prepared for myself. Anyway this down and out floosey has moved into my room and made a mess of it. Bags, paraphernalia and clothes every where. Her name is Robyn Reeder and a new member of Susan's. I want everyone out there to give her the works errr I mean an extra special welcome if you know what I mean... When I return I hope she has moved on with her life and gotten her own place to live so I can have my room cleaned up and renovated before moving in again. Atm it only looks a mess but who knows what condition it will be in by then. I love the girl dearly, but one would think that by her advanced age, she would have stopped slee ...umm running around like a horny love struck teenager. You should just see the clothes she is going to bring on the cruise she's planning on taking. OMG! Do teenagers actually wear those things?
Oh well, The time set for my escape is quickly approaching and I must make the liast minute preparations. Once away I believe I'll be heady in a general southerly direction towards my next stopover. It just could be someplace that starts with a S and ends with an Ana. Oh, Bari Jo.....

I got the memo so I got a makeover and Salon treatment yesterday.
I love being pampered in a Salon... I posted my experience getting pampered on the The Official "You Look Fabulous Darling" 8.0.. thread... I also posted pictures. LOTS OF FUN and it is nice to get all of that personal attention. I just wish I could afford to get it done more often.

The interesting thing is I do remember reading the first mention. It's proof that I binge-read everything you wrote. 3:04am Santa Ana, California. I am sitting in a visitor space looking at Bati Jo's garage door. She said she wakes at 4:50 every day. I don't want to wake her this early. In my wanderings in the desert heat yesterday I discovered myself wandering in the maze of canyons called Phoenix. I discovered myself driving in circles when to my surprise my navigation device announces "Your destination is on the left " followed quickly by "You have arrived". There must have been a disturbance in the force or some such anomaly because Mariah (21) and Jamie (20) certainly did not live in these tall structures that currently surrounded me. Checking my device it notice all it currently had for their address was Phoenix, Arizona. Which explained my current location.
After correcting the problem, I was again on my way only to arrive at a smaller maze bewildered once again. I parked my vehicle and set out on foot to reconnoiter. Eventually I was forced to make a distress call and was rescued by Mariah who led my the 50 paces to her abode. I quickly retrieved my vehicle and settled in for the night.

I don't even know where that is. I don't get over on that side too often as I live Far East valley. Phoenix is divided into east nd west valley and they're different in some ways. If I get out of town it's up to flag or north through payson. Both very different from the west side and up by skull valley. Even further east out in alpine or hannigan meadows is the place to be when it gets hot here in the valley. At least 30 degrees cooler.

I thought iy prudent to stop for a few hours at a rest stop at some indeterminate location in this state where only one star can be seen on a clear night. I was unable to see it though due to some considerate person thinking I may be missing Otegon's fine weather and said individual has provided clouds and rain to make me feel at home.
Since I have tested my search turns to that elusive dark elixir I have become addicyed to. ( I wonder if I can also find some gruel)

I admit to being remiss at keeping you all updated so I shall add a bit here tonight. Now where was I? Oh yeah, I was at Michelle's under duress and the influence of her odd cooking additives and addictive elixir. I for it very difficult to even want to leave her. But I did manage to do so but not without a lingering longing to return. I have found myself having to fight this urge to turn my pickup around even now.
Well anyway I decided a younger lady down south in a village called Santy Annie needed my undivided attention so I headed south. After hours of driving I knew I must be getting close because the air was brown and almost thick enough for me to cut pieces of to chew on in order to breathe. No sign of fires though. I arrived in the wee small hours of the morn and because of that I decided to let Miss Bari Jo sleep another hour or two. Luck would have it that she needed to take Fanta (her doggy) for a wake long before sunrise and found me in my truck. We walk together until Fanta had his fill (or rather his empty) and then returned to Bari Jo's abode.
I was led into a cluttered room with a desk and what I was to learn were parts of a self designed video game cabinet. It will look like nothing I have ever seen when assembled. Another pinball/video game in need of some programing sits near the wall next to the couch. Up in the ceiling I notice 2 10-12 inch speakers installed. I was then led upstairs to the living quarters where I was just in time for breakfast. I was almost homesick for Michelle's place as I was handed a bowl of gruel but without the added apples and berries Michelle had fed me.. It was grueling to eat it but I did run off in a hurry and had no victuals other than some cookies I ripped off for my comely captor. We sat and talked a bit.
Then stating that she had to put in some work hours we went down stairs once again where we talk but a little and she spent most of her time on a phone call. She claimed this was "working" We also managed to talk a bit more. I discovered this seemingly shy young lady is pretty stern when she wants something. When she wants something done for her she insists on it being done the way she asked for it to be done. I also discovered she is quite the creative one with a vivid mind and the vision to see how things should get done. If what she wants hasn't been made yet she will find a way for it to be made to her high standards. I was quite taken by her creative abilities and tenacity.
After "work" we returned upstairs where we talked about dinner.. we decided to get delivery Chinese then found out they didn't deliver. Did I mention how Bari Jo is good at having things done right for her? Well apparently the Right thing for dinner was to send me to fetch our order. See, what I mean? LOL I am just teasing you Bari Jo. Anyway with dinner done and cleaned up we watched a little TV and talked some more. It wasn't much longer and she needed to go to bed in order to get up very early for her commute to work. We said our good nights and Bari Jo went up the the upper level of her living quarters and I retired to the guest bedroom. Where I slept soundly until about 9:00am where I made myself some coffee and found something to eat before gathering up my things and throwing them into my truck. And so with another notch in my steering wheel, (Bari Jo being #19) I once again hit the road heading east this time. I was glad I was able to meet Bari Jo in person. I think she liked it too..

So when we last left Laurie she was heading east on I-10 with a resurrecting mythical bird flying through her mind. Something about rising from the ashes.. It was just a short jaunt down the road from Santy Annie that took most of the rest of the day. Sometime after dark I found myself wandering aimlessly in a canyon of tall spires with one way streets and no clue where I was. Suddenly my phone's GPS announces that I am here. Here was obviously not where I had wanted to be. I checked Mariah's contact and noticed one again that I had 2 entries for her. Checking further I discover one has her address and apartment number and the other has simply Phoenix, Az. Anyone want to guess which one I had selected to follow?
Contacting Mariah via text I informed here that she did not live here and I would try the other address I had for her. So off I go again with an audible sigh of relief as I found my way out of this canyon of lost souls, weary travelers, and burnt birds.
Twenty minutes minutes later I find myself once again wandering aimlessly in the dark not sure of anything except I was making circles in an apartment complex exen after that darned GPS telling me "You are here" again. I wasn't sure what streets I was on or where the right apartment might be if I was in the right area. Eventually I parked and set out on foot. I found a building tkat had the right series of numbers but not the one I was hunting for. Hopelessly bewildered again I stopped at what appeared to be a central park/playground and called Mariah. While talking she set out to find me. Rescued she showed me where her apartment was and indeed my GPS was correct in saying I was there. I had been there at least 3 times. I walked back to where I parked to fetch my truck and returned to Their place and made proper greetings. TBC

Laurie is having quite the adventure out there in the SouthEast corner of the US! Lots of folks to meet in that region.
I get a kick out of following her road trip and seeing which Susan's Place members might turn up next in her threads.
Laurie made it to SW Florida. We almost didn't have things ready but we got it done. Friday evening there was a minor squabble over bedding but Laurie won out.

You are right, as are the others that have noted a more pleasant Laurie. Those daily pills have made it better for me by pushing those dark thoughts into the shadows of my mind where they still lurk. But because of that I was able to get out of my my cave and visit those that I had been putting off. Doing so also helped me feel better and I began to see a glimmer of hope. Each and everyone I visit helped me. I felt good enough that I decided to do this road trip. Again, getting out on the road and visiting those I have so far, has done a lot to get me back into a better place. Better than just that, I have found a reason to want to live again and yes, that has made me happy. But that is a different story. This one is about my Road trip and the people I get to meet. All of whom become special to me.
With Lori and Faith I am up to 25 special people so far and more are out there to be met.

Yep, folks I should be heading up to the north tomorrow if the storm will let me out of Florida that is. Tomorrow is supposed to be a pretty good storm with high winds and could even have a tornado the radio said. What was that saying... Neither wind or rain nor the sleet of night..
Anyway heading up the eastern seaboard states.

Actually, we had an awesome visit. I finally got to meet my good friend face to face. I've been waiting for a long time for a real hug, and she also passed on hugs from others that were almost as nice. I returned an extra big one and instructed her to distribute it as she sees fit. While we did have some deep, serious conversations, we also talked about plenty of fun things, and it was a joy to see an upside-down frown quite often. It's wonderful to see her growing happiness, and learn a couple of reasons why.
We had a couple of good meals out, took some pictures, had a little fun with a fridge, and then my friend had to leave.
Keep an eye on the Laurie Lorry Tracker to see when she's getting too close. And for your own protection, clean off the top of your fridge.

As I sit here contemplating my trek up to Maryland, There is a tornado watch for this area until 7 pm tonight. The wind is picking up and the thunder is rolling pretty good. I did think of out running it but well the couch was so comfortable and then I drank 2 cups of coffee. Then it was about lunch time so I made brunch after sorting my pills. A shower followed the eats and I have a bag of clean clothes to fold. I really should clean up after myself in the kitchen before doing my face and loading up my stuff. It's 1:30 now...
What I don't seem to be in a hurry? Well Meuni?, Minnie? , That Woman up in Maryland gave me a heads up that weather might not be nice up there either and the forecast says it is dropping nasty cold whit stuff from the skys today and tomorrow. Yes, Yes I do have chains, but if I drive slow and arrive on Thursday the worst is supposed to be over and thing start to thaw out. Well we'll see.... I'm not usually one to lollygag once on the road.

It wasn't a month after I arrived in Texas that a Tornado Warning, not watch, came over my cell. And the place I was living at was what they called a townhouse (basically, an apartment with Kitchen and living room downstairs, and bed and bath upstairs.
Now, as I saw the warning, I looked at my dog and said I don't think there's a basement.
Fortunately, we never felt anything.
Harvey, on the other hand was a bastard.

When we last left our heroine, she had just been rescued by Mariah from her aimless wanderings around the apartment and shown the way to where Jamie was waiting. Hugs were exchanged all around and pizza served. Let the visiting commence! which we did and I kept them both up way past their bedtimes. The futon was lowered into the sleeping configuration for me and Mariah and I made it up with sheets and blanker with pillow. So we all retired to our rest for the night... (time passes)
At so ungodly hour of the night I was awakened by my hosts bustling about and readying themselves for work. Soon enough they left and quiet ensued. So back to sleep I drifted. AH the peaceful bliss of sleep. At some later time I awoke and got out of bed in search of the amenities and foraged for food, which I found in the form of small packages in a closet. In return for these edibles I swept the floor. (shedding dogs requires this chore frequently) and cleaned up/ straightened up in the kitchen as there had been some talk of tacos or something for dinner once they returned home from work. As luck would have it, unbeknownst to me a discussion was held between my two hosts during which it was decided dinner would be held at Olive Garden. So off we went along with 3/4 of Phoenix to The Olive Garden. Mariah got use on the list and we took the pager with us back to the car to chat some more. This time the topic was the take of Mariah....Strange but true!
this tale lasted through the wait for us to be paged and into the dinner. Fascinating tale it was. Dinner was Tour of Italy with a salad and bread sticks. Carbs! lovely carbs! After dinner we returned to their place for more chat and another night on the couch.
In the morning we were up and at em at a decent hour and soon ready to hit the road. This time in search of Trudy. After reloading my things and saying my goodbyes to my two gracious hosts with hugs distributed I climb back into my truck and hit the road.
Ah yes on the road again in search of the elusive Hills of Fountains and Trudy's place.

The Hills of Fountains or something like that.
A little ways past the hamlet of Phoenix to the northeast lies this village call the Hills of Fountains. Why it is called this I was not able to determine. Yes there were a few hills but as for the fountains well they were either well hidden or I missed them because I couldn't see any. The view was not bad though provided you like cactus and sage brush and dirt.(well it is a desert you know) I found the quaint hut that was Trudy's wickiup and rang the door bell to be greeted by Trudy herself and invited in where I met Mrs Trudy and daughter of Trudy. I must say that for a wickiup the place was very nice and comfy inside. We retired to the living quarters and sat on a lovely couch where I was given a glass of water to slake my thirst after roaming the desert searching for the fountains in the hills.
Trudy and I talked for a couple of hours and got to know each other a little bit better as is the purpose of these road trips. Share the Laurie if you will.... At any rate Trudy and I had a nice conversation touching on a number of topics and telling our stories. All too soon it was time to resume my journey east to Florida so we said our goodbyes and I did manage to provoke a warm hug from Trudy and then it was into my truck and off in search of interstate 10 for a mad dash to the east coast.

There is a fountain and it's huge. I saw it when I was young and it can throw water over 300 feet in the air. However this was when power was cheap and sometime after that they greatly reduce the time they had it running because of the cost. A little internet search (https://www.experiencefountainhills.org/p/fountain/fountain-runtimes) will tell you when you can view it.
The 2100 mile dash to safety
There I was wandering in circles in the Arizona desert. (at least that's what the highways sign said)... something loop. How I got so far away from I-10 I'll never know. The gps on my phone said get on this loop and get on it I did. I am headed south sort of and feeling a bit loopy when I see signs of hope I-10 so many miles ahead. Now would be a good time to hop off for food an fuel. Yes there's one In-N_out !! Been wanting one of those double doubles and fresh french fries. They are mmmhmmmm good and magically delicious too! And look there's a gas station right there too.
Fed and fueled it is back on the loop and soon making the turn onto I- 10 and eastbound again. Kick it up to 75mph and down the road I go... Onward brave sisters... and all that stuff. I'm off in search of the rising sun. Mile after mile go by. Welcome to New Mexico and another stop for fuel and off I go into the wild blue ooops that's S((((t)e)p)h)anies theme song. Oh well, well after dark now and there a lightening of the sky up ahead. what was that sign? welcome to... more miles and the sign says El Paso. OMG will this city ever stop?? Another fuel stop and more miles. Getting tired. There a rest stop. Middle of the night pit stop in the ladies room and then curl up for a few winks. Back on the road. one stop for gas then another It's daytime again still in Texas a quick stop for coffee food and gas then back on the road to drink the coffee and eat. Mile after Mile. I manage another pit stop at an almost deserted rest area. Finally almost 900 miles and Welcome to Mississippi. Oh goodie even more hostile state and Alabama to look forward to. At least I'm not in them for long. No stops here. Welcome to Louis Annie and a stop for gas and a visit to the ladies room. Another night draws to an end and before too long it's dawn and Welcome to Florida. I gotta go pull into a rest area. Not only is there a steady stream of woman going in and out of the ladies room but there's a security guard standing there too.. back onto the road another 35 miles and pull into the next rest area and same situation. At least the breaks serve to wake me up some more. Onward to the next. No dice steady stream and guarded too. Florida just doesn't want me to pee.
Welcome to Talahassie. need gas and look! there's a Walmart. I park at Walmart going inside to the ladies room I don't care if there are other women in there I gotta go. And so I did.... relief.. ahhhh. Back out and over to burger for the worst burger I've gotten from them and then to the gas station. Refueled and back eastbound.. yes a couple more stops to refresh and stop the drowsies. then onward. There it is I-75 and southbound now almost there I can taste it. Oh wait that was a bit of hamburger stuck in my teeth. Exit 329 and westbound about 15 miles to go. The gps says turn here and turn there and there it is Becky"s house. Climb out and go up to the door and there's Stella barking growling and wanting to chew my leg off when the door opens. Hand down and let her sniff and she lets me come in as she settles back down. This one mommy likes.
So here I am. Becky's place. My home away from home for a week. First time Becky has seen the real me. All is okay and I'm made welcome after all it is just me looking a bit different but the same me. I'm tired 2100 miles in 51 hours. Yeah it's a bit slow but I got here.

Madness... MADNESS!!! That's crazier than some of my convention runs. Worst was something like Raleigh, Chicago, and San Jose in 3 weekends with a run back to Kansas each time. But we stopped at a hotel every night (even if it was only for 5 or 6 hours).
I'm glad you made it safely! But stay away from tornadoes and blizzards!
Florida
I arrived at Becky's on the late afternoon of March 12th and spent the next two days visiting and recovering form my dash across the southern states. Tuesday and Wednesday was relax and visit. Thursday Becky and I met with Cassie The Sassy at the Texas Roadhouse for dinner and chatting. We found her to be a charming young lady just as delightful as S(t)eph(a)ni(e) says she is. We enjoyed our meals then went over to a Starbucks for an evening coffee and more chat. That is where we had one of the baristas take our picture. All too soon it became time to part company and return home. Another notch in my steering wheel. #23.
The next day being Friday was my day to drive 180 miles further south to meet and stay the night with Faith and my namesake even though she hasn't yet learned to spell it correctly. For clarity sake we will use her spelling here. Lori. I left Becky's heading the 14 or so miles back to I-75 to continue south. Speed limit - 70, my speed 75. everyone else is driving at least 80mph and I feel as though I am going backwards in the flow. Eventually I get down that way and stop for gas and return to the road. Not far to go now I cross a long bridge over to their vicinity and my gps directs me to turn right into what looks like predominately empty lots. Turn here another turn there and pass a couple homes. More turns until it finally tells me to turn left onto a dirt road and announces I am at my destination. Sure enough there is one home in sight. This must be the place so I pull in and park at the end of the row of vehicles in front of the A shaped camper. I shut the truck off grab my purse and head for the door and there on the porch to greet me are Lori and Faith. Hugs were exchanged and inside we went.
We sit on the couch and proceed to get to know each other a bit. Lori the gracious hostess that she is gets me a glass of water as we talk some more. The subject of dinner comes up and the decision is pizza which Lori orders and we all go back to talking. Soon the pizza arrives and it is decided that we should go into the dinning room table to eat. My guard down I failed to realize it was an elaborate ruse to lead me into a trap. I thought it a little strange that someone would have a secure fenced in area inside the house but I thought it was for the dogs. I found myself trapped within. What scheming it must have taken them to lay such a diabolical trap for me. I know Lori had to have been the mastermind behind the plan in spite of her sweet disposition.

Subdued and fed I was let out for more talk into the night. After awhile Faith announces she is going to bed so Lori and I banish her off to the bedroom and we continued to talk into the night. We talked of her and Faith's relationship and how she's in it for the long run. We talked of religion and how she has had to reevaluate some of her views in the light of new data. But most of what I understood from her was her capacity to love Faith no matter what. Their happiness together is what is important to her. Eventually we too called it a night and I retired to the room with a nice bunk bed setup with a double mattress on the lower bed and a twin bed above complete with bed tent. I was sorely tempted to try the tent but decided to adult that night and after bang my head repeatedly (kids are shorter than an adult) I put on my PJs and crawled into the lower bed. Where I was accosted in short order by a ferocious feline that insisted on being petted and scratched for half the night.
Suddenly it was morning (late afternoon if you listen to Faith) I got up still in my PJs and made my way into the kitchen following the scent of freshly brewed coffee where I was given a cup of the black nectar by Lori who was busily starting breakfast. Frying up sausage and taters and a bit of this and some of that with eggs and broiling bacon. Some of her concoctions make it's way into a casserole dish and into the over. Meanwhile from somewhere she produces a bowl of pancake batter and begins cooking pancakes. Faith smelling food makes an appearance and also fetches a cup of coffee. Magically the food finishes cooking and is put on the table along with genuine maple syrup and we sit down to a breakfast fit for a queen. Thanks to Lori's skill in the kitchen. There was plenty to eat and the carbs were there to be had also. I ate my share and finished off with a fresh cup of coffee and a full tummy. So much for the cutting carbs this trip. It just isn't meant to be.
We visit more after getting dressed and then take the dogs for their morning walk (late due to guests sleeping in). Lori spots a young black snake maybe 4 feet long which one of the dogs, oblivious to such things, steps on and off it slithers in a hurry before it can be stepped on again. We go down to the pond (a small lake) and wave at the neighbors on the other side and admire the view of the lake. It is a pretty setting. We walk on until the last dog finds the right spot and then does it's business and off we go to return home. We sit and talk some more and noon comes and goes.
I decide that it was time to cut the visit short and head on back north to Becky's place. I've enjoyed my stay and inconvenience these good people enough. Hugs and goodbyes made I climb back into the truck and add two more notches in the steering wheel. #24 and #25 I find my way back to the main roads and onto I-75 northbound for the 180 mile trip back to base.

Thank You Faith and all of you others that have congratulated Michelle and I at finding each other. My first visit with her I knew there was something I found attractive and I wanted to be close to her, touch her. So I resorted to my old tried and true shoulder and neck massage. It usually make women melt and it did this time too. Since she liked it I did it again at another time and she purrs at me and I guess she gave me a couple clues that she might like more but being the blind fool I am I missed them. When it came time to go home I didn't miss the clues she gave in the garage. The brazen hussy kissed me. And then she did it again but having an audience made me self conscious so I got in my truck and left. Besides I had some things to think about.... all the way home. I decided first, I liked kissing Michelle. (I knew that before I left) Second, it was okay to like it. (internalized trans phobia there) and third, I thought I wanted more. We chatted every day and the opportunity to do this road trip was there so I thought I would return to Michelle's for more research. < research notes deleted by moderator> we discovered our attraction was mutual and will see where it will lead us. This is what I meant when I said I have found a reason to live again. Michelle is my reason.
You all know where I would be if I didn't also need this road trip. Michelle understands this and kicked me out onto the road. I will return to her when my trip is done.

I couldn't remember which state Climax was in so I looked it up. Turns out you can get to Climax in GA, NC, NY KS, MN, MI, and even in Saskatchewan, Canada. But not where Devlyn or Michelle live. Sorry.

Whew! Epic. 16 pages trying to catch up with this "Where Laurie" going now posting. And we got a picture of Waldo Fla. Fine town. Not really but a good flea market. Well I don't know anymore how good either. Been a bunch of years and they have not changed their sign. There must be something important there somewhere. Also, most floridians could have told you IF YOU HAD JUST ASKED about the security situation at rest stops overnight. We all know they lurk from sunset to sunrise every day. Then again your travails of trying to find a place to pee would have been easier if we had known. Planning, planning, planning. I was 45 minutes south with no security guard, indoor plumbing, a shower, bed, lots of coffee and stale cereal for free. Another time. But by then I will be living near I--95 somewhere but the hospitality stands. Including any hostages you may bring along next time.
Speaking of hostages. Congrats Michelle. I think...I hope. Yea, hope...for the best. I am sure you both will add immensely to each others life. And thank you for helping get Laurie out of her funk. She is better this way.
Anyway its great you 2 got a thing going on and like every other event there are a bunch of girls cheering you both on.

Have plans in May for a bus and train mixed trip around Finland. Starting with up north going to Oulu to visit a friend for 4 days. Then taking a trip down through Jyväskylä and then to Tampere. Hanging out with friends there for the day, then another friend picking me up and we will stay in Kangasala. From there I will stay there for a week or so. Then go over to Lahti to spend time with my date. :) After that back to my home! (I will keep that anonymous :P ) Looking forward to this trip!

After a dinner of KFC and a night's sleep Becky and I headed south once again to spend the day with another long time cis friend Barbara. It was decided we would get lunch and take in the sights of Tampa by way of taxi boat. So we got into Barb's car and off we went to Tampa. Fares paid and all day bracelets in place, we set sail for the next stop where we could get a bite to eat for lunch. Ulele's a bit pricey but the lunched were good. Next we walked over to what we thought was an open market for a bit of shopping but turned out to be a food court. Well we didn't need that so we headed back to the Taxi stand to await the next boat. Barbara needed to find the little girl's room (she is only 4'9" after all) and as luck the boat came while she was gone and we set sail without her. The boat went up river to the last stop. unloaded several people and then we headed back yo find Barbara standing on the shore waiting to find a ride. Reunited once again we set sail stopping here and there taking in the rest of the tour until we finally returned to our starting point. Somehow we had managed to consume the better part of the day and so we got back ing the car, paid the parking ransom and headed back to Barb's place when hugs were once again exchanged and Becky and I departed for home about an hour's drive away.
Since it was getting late we stopped for dinner at Cracker Barrel where not only did the waitress manage to get much of our order wrong but corrected it when it was pointed out, but I was also noticed by a younger couple and whispered about. The girl half only turned around to get a look at me three time while her boyfriend snickered to her. Oh well a little rude but not that unusual these days and it didn't bother me at all. We finished our dinner paid and continued on home without incident..

Florida part three
Monday 3/19/2018
Finally I am able to go see the short one that I promised a visit. This visit was postponed by shorty because she was too stressed out and busy preparing for some sort of sightseeing trip to the big fruit city you know the one New York New York. and then I was made to wait until she had settled back in at home and became unwound. You would think someone driving all the way accross country to see her would get a little bit more priority right?
I awoke later than I had intended and hurriedly skipped breakfast and then showered and put my face on, jumped in my truck, then leisurely sped over to the quaint town of Bushnell arriving right on time precisely one hour late. I ring the door bell and waited, and waited, just about the time I was about to ring it again the door opened seemingly by itself. But I looked down and there she was Miss (((((S)t)e)ph)(a)ni)e there in the flesh. She moved aside and let me in where I deliver a few warm hugs trying to remember who all asked me to give her one for them. Finally I said enough is enough and gave her one from me. Yes, she is as short as she looks in the pictures. So short I found myself talking down to her. After a bit of small talk she ushered me into the garage and indicated for me to get into her short car that I thought she affectionately referred to as a roller skate. Nope she calls it that because it isn't any bigger than a roller skate. I almost had to get to my knees to crawl inside that tuna can. Any way off we went to the post office and then to a repair shop where her real vehicle was being worked on. Then we were off skating down the boulevard to Danny's Place to get some lunch. We both ordered the meatloaf and chatted though a good meal. Crawling back into the tin can we returned to her place and sat in her office for some time talking. Then came the tour of the work area where sure enough there sat a partially constructed aeroplane. It was almost hard to believe this construct was being assembled into one of those flying machine by this diminutive woman giving me the quarter tour. (Which reminded me of a promise the would not be fulfilled for some almost unbelievable excuse. There was to be no plane ride. She would pay for that mark my words.) The tour continued to a close with the obligatory questions asked and answered. Once finished we returned to the office area to chat and await the boss' arrival who was out earning a living. Many and sundry topics were discussed some of which I have promised not to divulge. I cannot remember which meaningless ones they were so I'll keep them all to myself.
After what seemed an interminable time later the boss arrived home and I was introduced to Sue aka The Dragon Lady. I suspect all the books on dragons in the bookshelves and othe dragon paraphernalia strewn all around was her doing. There is even a dragon holding up the mailbox. (or was, Sorry Stephanie) By this time I asked the boss where the ladies room was located as it's location was not disclosed to me by Stephanie as it had nothing to do with aviation I guess. Once refreshed we set out for The red coyote restaurant for some south of the border food. Plenty of chips and salsa later with meals also consumed and bills paid we returned to the hanger where I proceeded to exact my punishment for not getting the plane ride she promised me to get me here. Up on the fridge she went.

That's where she was when I left to go back to Becky's. I stayed at Becky's for two more night due to weather both here and at my next stop. I was off Moni hunting.

Not so dastardly Sadie. Just justice for enticing me here under false pretenses. But it was sure nice meeting everyone.
Today I am leaving the small farming community of Sykesville, MD Having finally escaped from the ordeal of staying around Myorki? Mininski? Money? oh heck That woman. I did have a very good time visiting her better half Ann though. Met a couple more girls but more of this story when I get far enough away.

Philadelphia Pa and a visit with Rachel. Now in New Jersey near New York missed my turn and am on the NJ turnpike heading south. ( wrong way Laurie)

That was not fun. About 12 miles in the wrong direction following my phone gps. $3.60 to get off the turnpike after passing several exits. Then the dang thing puts me on a highway going to a bridge with a $15.00 toll and lead to the Verassano bridge into New York city. Thats when the nightmare driving began. Onto the FDR expressway then some river expressway then narrow lanes, hair pin exits, merge onto this highway, stay left and merge, in a quarter mile take exit, ...and hour to an hour and a half of nerve racking city expressway driving. Then came to a stop fo a rollover accident with emergency vehicles trying to get up to it. ARRRRRRRRGGGG!!!.
In Connecticut now. Rest stop 19 on I-95 according to my phone. At least I am heading the right direction again.

One thing I have recently found is the going north of NY, I 287 is good choice. you can get on it close to Philly and get off in Connecticut. No toll, less traffic and you can avoid the drama driving through NY (Been there done that.... one missing edit in this area and you are in all kind of traffic mess). Last I did the drive from CT to VA, I decided on I 287. Was about 30 minutes more but so much easier and relaxed. And I saved about $40 in Tolls.

Oh i was following a no toll route that would have skirted NYC.... Until I missed a turn and got on the turnpike. I guess someone at google decidef to punish me for not following directions catefully. I'm thinling og hunting them down and having a talk with them... Yeah uh huh a "talk"....

I went to a convention in Boston twice, and I remember my boss tried to get me to go through NYC since it was the quickest route. I chose to instead go around it all by taking I-90. Considering that the first time was in October 2001, I thought it was a good idea to avoid NYC. Plus we got to see Niagra Falls!

Because it has everything and anything any time of the day. It's the city that never sleeps, IMO, the greatest city in the US, as I knew it. I went to NYU and I could just sit in Washington Square Park for hours just watching everything going on. It's an incredible place.

Well, I used to live in a sprawling suburb, where to get anything involved a 20 minute drive to the nearest non-residential zoned area. Yes, incredibly bad planning, but by living in a smallish city center, I am a 5 minute or less walk from medical care, pharmacies, hardware, clothing, groceries, and restaurants. I can have anything delivered 2 hours or less. Often much less.
It has advantages for those of us who suspect we may be aging at some point...

Some detour. It looked ok on paper... I don't think negotiating city surface streets from 40th ave on 7th street to get in the Lincoln tunnel was a viable detour. I'm sure going through those barriers to make that right hand turn into the tunnel was illegal. NYC &Jersey city drivers are insane I swear it. And don't forget the bycyclists! A couple of those almost became injured parties. Construction on th General someone skyway into the Newark area didn't help either. ARRTRRRGGGGG!!!!

I really enjoyed your visit as did Ann. I'm glad you got to hang out and get to know each other better. Also glad you met my local friends. I think Marcie liked the food pictures. I left Sarah in Vienna, Virginia and headed out to find a westward freeway. My gps took me north to I-70 where i went...what else? West. A short time ago I turned onto I-68 still heading westerly but anglinh south too. Don't ask me where I am because I am not sure. I think I am still in Virginia but don't quote me on that.

Anybody seen Waldo, I mean Laurie lately. She is not posting here for a bit. With her wandering spirit she may have wandered up to Alaska. I'm fearful that she locked her keys in the car again and is out in the cold, shivering in her little boots, lips turning blue. Oh my! Or maybe she is too good for us now. Maybe she has decided in her life as a world traveler, she doesn't need 'the likes of us,' we rag tag bunch of gender explorers! How dare she ignore us! We gave her the best years of our lives and for what? To be ignored and tossed aside like some cheap rag doll (dressed impeccably of course)? I think not!

It's true! I nearly got run over by the Laurie Lorry. She's currently terrorizing visiting the central states.
A very quick estimate shows that we passed through Lexington, KY southbound on I-75 about 24 hours before you passed through on I-64 westbound. Whew, that was close! There's no way to get on top of the fridge in Christine, the camping trailer from Hell.

Now where did I leave off? Oh yeah, I was on my way to Maryland to visit That Woman Monaco or something like that. The run up there was fine until I got up into the DC area with morning rush hour beginning. The two days of snow before left the roads wet and salty which of course made a mess of the windshield and the sides of the truck turn white. After a nerve wracking tour on the freeways through the area I made the exit to the rural drive to Meanica's. This part of the drive was more to my liking. Following directions I managed to find the remote abode of my prey. I lost the element of surprise due to having to text here to asks where to park after trying to get stuck in the snow of her driveway. You would think she would have shoveled out a place for such and honored guest as myself. But no she comes out and directs me to park right back where I'd almost gotten stuck. ::) ::) ::) I had arrived. Not waiting I began off loading some of these hugs I'd been carrying around for just that purpose.
Grabbing my pharmacy and laptop I was shown inside to greet the better half of the homestead inhabitants, Ann. More hugs were dispensed and I was shown to "My Room"

So started 3 days and nights of good natured banter, serious conversation, homemade breakfasts, dinners out. Some tears were shed but there was far more of that great banter, getting to know one another better and fun of good friends. I went with her to a doctor's appointment. One of the evenings I started a video skype session with Liz and was then relegated to observer status as the conversation was taken over by Ann, What's her name and Liz with questions and answers about GCS surgery and effect on spouses and what not that I had not input for. The conversation was fruitful and enjoyable for all. I got up on the morning of my third day there with an intention of continuing on but with absolutely no idea as to where I was going next. I began trying to contact prospects when Mianie asked if I wanted to meet a couple of her local friends for dinner if they were obliging. I postpone leaving for another night which gave my prospects time to reply.
Before we needed to leave to meet with MarciElizabeth (yes from Susan's) and Zelda (not from Susan's) I got answers from Rachel, p (Patti), and the Devyln. Tentative scheduling were made with allowances for the using Laurie no plans requirements. So off we went to rendezvous with Zelda and Marci at Ruby Tuesday. The food was okay but far out done by the company and conversations. I chalked two more new meetings #28 and #29 duly notch in my steering wheel later. Having occupied the booth long enough to receive looks from the restaurant personal who were wondering when they would finally be rid of us, we retired to Muano's SUV for more conversation. After about another hours parting hugs were given and M and I headed back to the homestead.
The next morning I got up early enough to say goodbye to Meowny before she left for her facial torture session because I would be gone before she returned in 3-4 hours. I sat at the table in my VS satin PJs updating you all on my adventures so they'd be up to date before I hit the road again. In the meantime Ann wakes and joins me at the table. We then went into the kitchen where she started a pot of coffee and we proceeded to prepare some breakfast. Back at the table armed with coffee and food we continued our conversation behind that woman's back. Ann and I had a very good conversation the details of which are not relevant to this report though both of us hard tears at one point in our talk. Ann did here best to impress upon me that I affect everyone I meet and leave a part of myself with them and they do on me. She used this thought to impress upon my that doing something to end my difficulties may solve my problems by it will affect and hurt each person I have left a part of myself with. I should consider this if I ever have those difficult thoughts again. Thank you Ann for that insight. I will try to remember it.
Well this conversation lasted long enough for what's her name to return home and catch me still at the table no further ready to depart than when she left. I got myself into gear and showered and got dressed and finished re-stuffing my things back into my soft-sided trunk. Ready I made the first trip to reload my truck and returned for the goodbye with Ann and thanking them for allowing me to visit. I then dragged my trunk to the truck with Muanie following. Trucked all ready to go we said goodbye and I climbed into the truck hours later than I intended and headed to visit with my next victim in Philadelphia, Rachel. I had a wonderful time visiting them.

Hi Folks
As I mentioned in my last update I got a late start heading to Philadelphia thanks first due to Ann keeping me engaged in a good heart to heart conversation and then by that woman returning and keeping me there longer. I mean she just got home and it would have been impolite to say hi to her then run out the door, right? I think she wanted to have a 3 or was it a 4th good bye hug. Some become addictive to hugs you know?
Anyway I finally got on the road again and made it to the Philly area in time for rush (crawl) hour traffic. On the other side I managed to find Rachel's place in a quiet neighborhood and made friends with her dog enough that it allowed me to enter the house but demanded further attention. We settled down in the living area where I admired the spacious size of the room. We talked for awhile and Rachel offer to feed me. Am I continued the conversation she rummaged in the kitchen bringing out cold cuts, cheese, condiments, bread, chips and a pickle. We sat at the table and chatted over sandwiches. Of course I continued to talk and eat until we were done. Rachel cleaned up and we retired once again to the living room. In spite of having been told she goes to bed early I continued to talk past that time. I kept her up at least 45 minutes past the time she would normally have been in bed. We grabbed a quick picture and I let her herd me to the door. We did have a good conversation and I would have liked to visit longer and would have, had I not been so tardy in arriving. So yep it is all Mawny's fault for keeping me from leaving her place sooner.
So I was once again sitting in my truck moseying on down the road to my next stop. Supper with the Devyln. Thank you for your time Rachel it was nice to visit with you.

It was sunny and warm in Monument today, close to 70 degrees. Tomorrow will still be sunny, but it will be windy with a high in the mid-40's. Sorry about that. However when two friends meet for the first time it is always sunny and warm, no matter what the weather is. My wife is looking forward to meeting you Laurie, and the guest room is yours for as long as you like. Unfortunately someone had me schedule some software maintenance for tomorrow afternoon, so hopefully you won't mind visiting with my better half for an hour or so while I take care of business. Yes indeed, Laurie made it safely to my home. Unfortunately I have been a poor host and had to go to my electrolysis appointment, and once I got home I had a scheduled system change to perform. Laurie just left Monument, CO and is now on her way up to Loveland for a visit with Tia Anne. My wife and I truly enjoyed Laurie's visit and we gave her a standing invitation to stay with us again. I think my wife really enjoyed having someone she could talk to about anything, and I was happy to hear my wife call me 'Jessica' in her conversations with Laurie! I think Laurie would look good driving either one, but an AMC Ambassador 401 V8 in an Austin Ambassador would move pretty quick.

I had a '68 AMX, it went pretty good. The factory valves and compression ratio were the same as a Chevy...after the Chevy went to a machine shop for head work and oversize valves.

Depends on the engine. The chevy big blocks were pretty good out of the box, especially the 427 and 454. I like Oldsmobiles. 455 W-30. You can still buy high performance small and big blocks from Chevy. I think they still have the LS-6 454.

Another short update: As Jessica Rose indicated, I am no longer there. Though I could have stayed another day or two swapping stories with Susan . Oh yeah Jessica too. But I needed to get on down the road because I was expected elsewhere. I am now enjoying the hospitality of Anne and Debi in Loveland Colorado. Jane as in Janes Groove had contacted me and suggested Anne, Debi, Her and I get together for lunch. So we met at Racine's in Denver for lunch.

Mowing's? oh you know That Woman's Clyde to the Clyde mausoleum when I'm gone. She had cast him off long ago unceremoniously. I rescued Clyde and gave him a resting place of honor on my desk. Any way here is his possible future resting place.

Thank you Laurie. My apologies to you, Girl, I missed a day or so with that pesky work thingy stuff and I did miss your posting. It is nice to see you got over the embarrassment of meeting with someone who/whom you can't pronounce their name. Oh, and thank you for pointing out how it is my fault that you can't pronounce it. I now see the error of my ways (not.) Anyway, I did want the picture out there of me and my 3 very super, fantastic, wonderful friends. I am still getting over the trauma of the food pictures, but the doctors tell me I should have a full recovery. ;D

She is invited back anytime but we requested that next time she graces our presence she be accompanied by a certain Bay Area girl. The guest bed is big enough for two.

Oh my, no real update since April 2nd. Someone should fire the narrator of this tale. Well, let's see if I can remember that far back. It seems I left off with Rachel. Wonderful girl and pleasant hostess, putting up with me until way past her bedtime before politely shooing me out the door. Thank you Rachel for your perseverance.
So here it is approaching the 9 o'clock hour with several hundred miles to traverse to make my next stop, it's Stoughton (pronounced Staaahh ton), Massachusetts. With my phone GPS set for avoiding tolls, I head off heading sort of north and sort of east hoping to skirt the outer edge of NYC (that's New York City! with a cowboy accent). Faithfully following my GPS for several hours, my gps suddenly issues a "take this exit" in the tone of an Annapolis grad that flunked basic navigation just as the exit goes by. This has happened before and It usually means take the next exit. But no , not this time . I am shortly presented with several toll booths declaring "Welcome to the New Jersey Turnpike" Heading south of course. I grab my unwanted toll ticket, heading merrily back in the general direction I had just come from.
Intermission time! Service plaza ahead!
I pull in to check over my situation.... My phone has cheerily told me I was going the wrong way and has recalculated to get me back on track. I decide to trust it and continue following it's directions. Yes ,Yes, I know that was likely a bad decision but I did it anyway. Some day I may learn... Had I been doing my own navigation with the maps in the pockets behind my seats I would have taken the next exit and found my way back to where I had been led astray by google. My phone however had a different idea... Yeah, yeah, I know another red flag. I drive on past that exit and 4 or 5 more as I continue in the wrong direction some 14 miles. Finally google tells me to take the next exit. I dutifully pay my $3.80 and follow directions to the next road hazard. At least I'm now heading in the right direction (I believe) Next hazard? oh yeah. With now warning I come upon another toll plaza in front of and unknown bridge. Maybe I don't really know where I am going though the compass does say I am going north. The damage this time is $15.00... Oh heck why so much? Onward and upward over the bridge to bring into view a much bigger and busier bridge. I see the name now and it bodes ill. It's the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge And there it is, the one city I wanted to avoid above all others and I am committed to entering it. AAAARRRRRRRRG!!
I was given the New York expressways tour by Google and am glad it was late at night. I cannot imaging trying to get through that mess during daylight hours. After about an hour of raw nerves, narrow lanes, blind on ramps where cars hide waiting for a chance to pull out in front of you and hairpin turn interchanges I begin to sense a lessening of high rise buildings and beginning to get my hopes up that NYC was coming to an end when I come to a complete stop in bumper to bumper traffic. Soon the sounds of sirens can be heard behind me. Only two lanes with almost no roadside and not one but 3 emergency vehicles are trying to make it through the traffic one at a time. I was surprised when the flatbed tow truck managed to get by. After 20 -30 minutes I manage to creep up to the accident scene where I see one dinged up car and then the other one that had flipped over onto it's roof. I did not seen anyone that appeared to be badly injured as I made my way past and into the clear to continue out of that insane place.
Note to self... this will not happen again.
Back on track to Massachusetts the miles tick by. With plenty of time to make it to my rendezvous with the Devyl I manage to catch some shuteye at a rest stop before entering Connecticut. Even a short video session with my Sweetheart back in California. A restful night and coffee and a bite to eat in the morning and I'm back on my way. Mid-morning I discover another feature of my google maps GPS. The nifty feature it has when you interrupt your directions for awhile and then restart them again and it directs you to the center of the nearest town or city all by itself. I enjoyed a tour of the small town of Old Saybrook, Connectcut before I realized what was happening and got back on the freeway.
No further events happened in arriving at my destination a bit before the Devyl was finished with her work. She must have been watching for me because it was not too long before I see her traipsing across the parking area toward me. Getting out and recieving a warm greeting hug I was invited in to await the end of her work day. After being introduced to two other persons ( one may have been the boss and the other appeared to be the real mover in the office ) the work of checking in the deliveries of the day were finished up and the Devyln was allowed to depart with her wandering friend in tow for a short trip to The Outback Steak house. We were seated quickly and placed or orders for dinner and proceeded to swap stories and feelings about our newly found romantic long distant partners. ( details omitted in the name of polite conversation) Needless to say we both were thrilled to compare notes on our new partners and the joys they have brought to our lives. (sorry juicy details will be left to the imaginations of our readers) To sum it up one might say we both are well pleased to find these lovely partners that make us happy.
Dinner over, well fed, friendship renewed with the hour getting late, Devyln and I made our way back to her place of work so I could retrieve my pickup. With hugs, thanks and sad goodbyes we climbed back into our vehicles to once again hit the road to our individual destinations. Devlyn back to her home in Weymouth and me pointed southwest for my trip to New Jersey and dinner with p (Patti) and her husband Noah.
On the road again.. down the road I go.

On a road far far away some time ago....
Tonight begins my trek west. Well southwest to start with. After saying good night and good bye to the Devyl, I once again made my way to the I-95 freeway for my return to New Jersey for another dinner date with my #1 fan p (Patty) and her hubby Noah whom I did not meet last trip. A quick look at the map will show you that from Massachusetts you head south into Rhode Island (for only a short time. it's a small state), Connecticut, New York and finally into New Jersey once again. Not a long drive at all in the scale of things.
I made it into Connecticut once again and about half way through when I decided to pull into a service area for a good night's sleep after calling my baby on the skype line. We talked awhile and then she tucked me in virtually and bade me a goodnight. Ending the call, I settled in for a longer nap and knew nothing but sweet dreams until the morning sun awakened me. Going inside for a pit stop, coffee and a bite to eat I attempted to wake up and face the new day. What could go wrong?
The first indication of trouble was when I see a sign pass overhead that welcoming me to the Bronx... nuh ugh NO _*$%$(*@#_ Way!! I am not driving through that damned city again! (the little voice in my head says "wanna bet?").. I pull into the next gas station and check my phone for alternate routes.... Eureka! I find one that looks promising and select it! Onward we go brave sisters. The gps says straight ahead for a bit. 3 lanes of traffic along a waterfront... ummm this isn't looking good. What do you mean a left turn into those very tall buildings on 42nd Street? oooops missed that one.. ok a left on 40th St. 3 blocks and a right on 7th Avenue??? wth !! Why are we driving on the wrong side of the yellow lines? and why are those trucks parked in the traffic lanes? Damn it! Gget on your own side of the road!! Down aways and another left onto a 4 lane one way street (Gavin maybe) with the 2 right lanes barricaded off and the dang GPS wants me to take a right turn. I'm sure going in between those barricades was illegal, but I was only following the 2 cars ahead of me. Right turn made and ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) I'm in a dang tunnel! The Lincoln Tunnel,.. going under the river and into New Jersey..., Jersey City, New Jersey! Every bit as bad as the dang surface streets I was just on in, yep New York City!!! ARRRRRRRGGG!!! Add bicyclists darting in front of you, along with the double parking and general city traffic and you have one unhappy Laurie.
Before long I see a sign for the freeway I want and sigh in relief... I should have known better.. I find myself in the line to enter onto the General Casimir Pulaski Skyway (currently under construction with only one lane per direction open). Queue Beetoven's Ode to Joy. Wonderful! A scenic view of the river industrial area of Newark in all it's dirty glory. A sight one is surely better off missing when you can actually see it. Anyway it eventually lands me in Newark, NJ and there are no further issues to keep me from arriving a bit early at p's (Patti's) apartments for our dinner meeting.
We had talked earlier and discussed food possiblity and I say I like spicy food and suddenly discussion ends wuth Patti saying I know where we will go. I let Patti know I had arrived and am invited up to meet hubby Noah as Patti finishes touching up her makeup. Unnecessarily I might add as she already looks good being a pretty young lady. Noah strikes me as as friendly and nice young man as a girl like Patti deserves. Polite and able to keep a strange older lady company while we await for Patti to join us. There she is and off we go for the short walk to the Thai restaurant right next door to the restaurant I met Patti at last visit. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a friendly staff and we are soon seated looking over the menu. # different spicy hot dinners with appetizers ordered we settle down to the serious business of social visiting. I relate my travels and we reminesce of our last meeting along with other small talk while munching on the apetizers. The main meals are served and we share the entree with each other while conversation continues. They make a lovely young couple enjoying life with one another. Dinner long gone and the clock ticking we begin thinking of returning to the apartment. The courtesly offer me their couch for the night and I accept.
The walk back to the apartment is a damp one because a mist has settled in for the walk back. Stopping at the pickup I retrieve a few things I'll need before morning and we go upstairs to warm up. Cushions moved and bedding provided, we talk a bit more before calling it a night.
Morning and a breakfast of coffee and a bagel. I try texting Sarah1972 to let her know I will be able to meet her because I spent the night at Patti and Noah's. I get a notification back says my account lacked sufficient funds to send the text. Knowing it had to be wrong I try again with the same results. Okay, time to check my account... Damn it! what was that password? No.. No... Not that one.. oh heck what was it? No problem I'll just reset it again. Click the link, fill out the email address and check email... There it is. Click the link to reset it and.... "Page not found"... Click... "page not found" Okay let's try this again.... Click forgot password- check.. email recieved - check... reset link clicked - check.... "page not found" - check arrgggg
Find the support number. make the call. navagate the phone tree 4..1..3..2 damnit! Redial 4, 3, 2, 2 Please wait while we connect your call.... All of service operators are busy please hold for the next available operator..... Muzac... repeat recording more muzac... repeat...repeat...repeat...repeat... repeat hello?... blah blah blah oh you will need to reset your account information on the phone ...instructions... well have someone call back a 1 pm to check to see the problem has been resolved..... Reset phone and redo accountinfor on phone.. send text to Sarah same thing... Send a text to myself and it works. oh heckk what is wrong with Sarah's number? check contact info and sure enought there are 100 digits instead of 10. Dang it! Where did I get her number from? email? - no not that one. ..gmail? - no... hotmail? - no. Susan's PM? looking, looking when was that? looking ah there it is!! yep I added an extra zero right there. Text Sarah to ask if she still wants a visit even later. She answers that dinner will be fine.
Finally! Phone company calls back and I report I've fixed the one issue but I cannot log into the website still. Operator says no problem and resets my password and send a reset link with a new password telling me I can change it later if I want. I use the new password to log in and see all is well but cannot find out how to change password. To heck with it. I've got to get on the road. Car repacked, Patti and Noah given thank yous and hugs and I'm on my way to Virginia to see Sarah1972.... ETA 3 1/2 hours.....

My trip westward from Patti's place in New Jersy lasted a little longer than expected. The first obsticle was that it was 2 o'clock when I finally left Patti's place. That meant I was in time to catch rush hour traffic along with a couple rush hour accidents just to make things interesting. Going through Baltimore was of particular fun. Why expect a 3 1/2 hours drive when you can stretch it into 6 hours? In spite of these delays Sarah1972 kept on saying she still would love to meet with me for dinner. She picked the spot and sent me the address. As I neared the area where she lives and where the restaurant is located I realized much to my chagrin our rendezvous would be smack in the middle of these tall buildings lining the freeway. Oh no... oh no!! Not here, not in this area. I follow directions and take an exit.... busy main street.. turn no parking anywhere, another turn and I can check my phone for the restaurant. It has an address containing the name of a multi level parking structure I saw next to the freeway with stores advertised n it. Tyson Corner I think. Please not there please? I find the restaurant and it has it's own parking lot and separate building. I can't believe it. I park and await the arrival of Sarah. It's 8pm.
Sarah arrives and we greet with hugs and proceed inside for a meal and better yet lots of good ol' conversation. In a matter of minutes we are talk like long separated friends reunited once again. The food is good and so is the company, but as all good things must the time flies and I must get back on the road and Sarah must go home. With the bill paid we walk back out to the vehicles, hug a couple more time as we say good bye. I must say I found Sarah to be a delightful young lady that was truly a joy to visit with.
Back on the road head southwest once again.

I found myself alone after the morning dark elixir and gruel. Mistress Michelle aparently had some important task to take care of that didn't require my presence. I took advantage of the honey badgers having discovered just what "mating pair" meant recently, (it has become their favorite pastime) to gather my meager possessions and slip past them to freedom once again.

When we last left our fearless road warrior she had just hit the road heading west by southwest after a dinner visit with Sarah1972. Let us see where she has gotten herself off to...
It was well after 10 pm when Sarah and I parted company and with the help of my phone's GPS I managed to leave the forest of concrete and steel behind and got back on course towards Missouri once again. It wasn't long and I began to question my google based directions again. I started in the DC area of Virginia and thought I was heading in a westerly direction you here I was in Maryland again. I know Baltimore is east of Virginia. I had driven through it to get to the meeting with Sarah but those signs have "MD" on them. What the heck? I'm too tired to figure it out and pulled into a rest stop to spend the rest of the night. I awake to an eerie sight in the morning.

Missouri is still several hundred miles away so after a rest room trip and a morning chat with my girlfriend it is back on the road again and yes I'm somehow still in Maryland. I didn't get far. Mile after mile goes by with quick stops for food and breaks. State after state, another day turns into night and still no Missouri in sight. Hours later and I go through a little familiar town I've seen before. Wicliffe, Il and then crossing the Ohio and Mississippi rivers into Missouri. On into Dexter, Mizzery. It's 11:30pm when I pull into the driveway of a cis-woman friend. Lefty (Beverly) is still up and likely to be until dawn. She opens the door so I can come in and visit. She is a friend of my good friends Peggy and Jim and is a World of Warcraft player (dang hordie!) It's her playing WoW that has turned her into a night people by playing all night and sleeping during the day. Anyway I visit until about 4:30am and hit the road again heading for the far side of the state a little way north of Springfield. I didn't make it. Nope daylight came once again, but the day and night without sleep has taken it's toll and I take an exit... any exit... I find a spot to park and proceed to get a short nap. 30? 45? minutes later I'm back on the road. Another 100 miles or so and I'm again looking for an exit. This time I manage maybe an hour and a half of sleep before I'm back on the road. I'm about 35 miles from Springfield and I'm seeing people standing at intervals along the freeway with PVC white crosses. This lasts almost the rest of the way into Springfield. I figure it out... it is Friday... Good Friday before Easter, this is the bible belt after all.
Finally the belt way around downtown Springfield and onto highway 13 going north to Weaubleau, Mizzery 60 miles or so and I pull into Peggy and Jim's place and can shortly crash and get some sleep.

And thank you so much for making the time to stop by on your journey. Somehow our meeting was very empowering to me. Outside of Susans I have very little interaction with other trans people but I realized that not many cis people are interested in our special problems (try talking to a cis men about tucking, he would have a meltdown). Maybe I finally need to join a support group.
Sorry for making you lost in the big city maze. I had feeling there was a very large force drawing you back to the west coast, and given the miles you put on the Laurie Lorry after we parted are a clear indicator of said force.
I am glad you made it back home - I know it was hard to leave your girlfriend with the honey badgers but i am sure you two will re-unite real soon.
I assume you have a ton of things to catch up after such a long trip.
I also want to thank you for sharing your adventures. You have a huge fan club here and we all have been religiously following the "Laurie Tracker" and you adventures.

@Steph2.0 - For her next trip, we just mount an ADS-B Transmitter on the Laury Lorry. Then we can just track her on flight aware and I can set an alert on my ADS-B Receiver to get a proximity notification ;)

Even I used the Laurie Lorrie tracker. Sometimes I forget where I am..... none of this "if it's Tuesday it must be..." for this girl. I just look at the tracker and then I know where I am. It was a fine feature to have for my travels.

I too am happy the Laurie Lorrie tracker was there, even though it was of no help to the honey badgers in their pursuit, since they can't read. If she would have left the tracking device I gave her on her wrist, instead of hiding it in the kryptonite box, they would of caught her and brought her back. Which

Teeth brushed, showered, and face assembled I was ready to go. Text sent and off I went down I-54 for 66 miles to arrive at Fort Scott and right on by the Fort. Well it didn't look like a fort to me. I kept going looking for it and ran out of road. The thought came into my mind at that point that I had missed the fort. I made a U-turn , wondering if she lived in the white or the yellow house and headed back to what HAD to be the fort. I pulled in looking for a lost Sarah when I saw her waving at me in the parking lot. I parked and got out to be confronted by a big grin, a warm hug and a hi Laurie!. I returned the greet enthusiastically as hers was given.
We stood in that parking lot yakking like old girlfriends until it got near dinner time. We talked about that too and decided I would follow her home, drop her car off there and then we would go on down the road to Pittsburgh, Ks to an Italian restaurant Sarah said was good for dinner. So off we went in search of Napoli's Italian restaurant. Somehow in all that talk she managed to direct me there. Dinner was delicious as promised but the conversation was better. afterwards we got back into my pickup and I drove us back to her place and parked. There we continued to talk until 11:00pm when I had to kick the young lady out of the truck where we hugged some more and said goodbye before I shooed her off to go into the house.
I think we both thoroughly enjoyed our time together. Sarah is a wonderful young lady eager to get on with her transition and with her life in general. I drove back east to Weaubleau, Mo. to get some sleep during what was left of the night.

@Alaskan Danielle Thank you for the praise on my story telling, Danielle. I do try to document my travels in a fun entertaining way. Alas, I have to apologize to everyone for being so tardy in doing so. I am far behind in my memoirs. Story telling takes a modicum of thought and creativity and though I do the former quite a lot, (albeit on other things) I am at an extreme disadvantage with the latter. I have to be in the mood for it to happen. It is much more fun living my adventures than writing about them.
On another note I am enjoying your eloquent sharing of your love interests there in the frozen tundra. I conjure up visions of you in snow shoes or on skis making your way through the snow making your way to work. You haven't told us about your pets so I leave the dog sled out of my mental images of you. In other words Hun, I'm an avid fan of yours.
@Roll Hi Ellie. You of course are right about Sarah's wonderful grinning smile. It is her trade mark and I hope never to see her without it. I had a wonderful time talking with her and getting to know her better. Some day I will have the same pleasure in getting to know you. I have no doubt of this and I am looking forward to it.

The saga continues...
I made it back to my couch at Peggy and Jim's place about midnight after kicking Sarah out of my pickup so I could leave. That girl will talk and talk and talk. She was a perfect compliment to my gift of gab. There wasn't a silent moment during our whole visit.
I got some sleep and managed to get coffee, something to eat, cleaned up and my face reassembled in time to head northeast for my next rendezvous in Columbia at noon with the reclusive Ainsley and her wife Tiffany. It was a nice quiet ride on 2 lane roads through the countryside up to I-70 and from there to Columbia. We were to meet at D Rowe's, which we certainly did. Unfortunately D Rowes had decided to play and April fools joke on everyone and not open on Easter Sunday. An alternately location for lunch was quickly proposed and so we set out for Longhorn's Restaurant. Yay! It is open on Easter! We went inside, were seated and proceeded to converse. After sending to waitress away a couple time I finally shut up and looked at the menu. The next time she returned we were all ready to order and did so without further ado then resumed conversing. I was honored to find out that these two ladies made an exception from their normal practice to come meet with me. I respect their desire to be homebodies after years of running hither and thither in excuting the parental duties for so many years raising their children. Now they feel,and rightly so, is their time to stay at home and relax enjoying their lives together.
Lunch was served and it hardly put a dent in the conversation (I tried not to talk with my mouth full) We enjoyed our meals and our conversation until long after the dishes were removed. Alas all good things must end and the bill paid we got up and returned to out pickups. More hugs were exchanged and we parted company. Sadly I was remiss it document the meeting with pictures. Perhaps if Ainsley reads this she and Tiffany will take a selfie and send it to me to be included here. I found my visit with these two woman to be very nice and I enjoyed the conversation immensely. Perhaps next time I can get a home cooked Missouri meal.
Where we ate was right beside I-63 in Columbia, Mo. so I decided to take it south to Cedar City and the head west on I-54 through the capital city of Jefferson City and on to Weaubleau,Mo. and peggy and Jim's place for another night of waiting on my estradiol.
The night passed and it's Monday April 2nd. I decided to check in with my sister to see how things are going there and she mentions I've received a package from the VA. I have her open it and sure enough it is a bottle of estradiol pills. Damn it! They sent it to the wrong place. I have taken the last of my pills that day. Well, no sense waiting here any longer. I prepare to leave repacking the pickup, showering and redoing my travel makeup. By that evening I'm ready to leave and continue west. West to Monument, Colorado and my next stop. Jessica Rose here I come ready or not.

I assure you Patti (and Noah) I thoroughly enjoyed my visit with both you and Noah. It was nice to meet Noah who was a proper gentleman. No doubt a testament to his upbringing. I loved the food at the restaurant and was delighted to find out you both enjoy share my enjoyment of spicy foods. Michelle does also, though she does tend to try to eat responsibly healthy at the same time. I really appreciated the use of the couch and being welcomed into your home. As I do for all that opened their doors to me.

Well it is about time I get back to my narration of my trip...
It is late afternoon on April 3, 2018. I leave Weaubleau, Mizzery and head east. About 6 pm I'm breezing through Fort Scott, Kansas waving in Sarah P's direction. I drive on into the night passing through El Dorado about midnight- thirty and bypass Wichita, picking up I-135 north through Selina and onto I-70 west at 3am. Pushing on I cross into Colorado a bit before noon. I decided not to stop at the Burlington, Co.Loves truck stop / gas station to get a selfie as Kendra had suggested. For those that didn't read the first road trip adventure, this is the truck stop I stopped at to fill up and promptly locked myself out of my pickup. this was on probably my 5th day out in public en femme. I have to play the damsel in distress and go inside to get help in calling a lock smith to come out and get me back into my pickup.
Anyway I didn't stop and get a picture but kept going. I had a rendezvous with Ramah to make. Ramah, Co. that is. I made it through Ramah at 2:14 pm and continued on west. I was on I- 24 now and went into the town of Peyton where I missed a turn and went around the dirt road block and had to wait for some fowl turkeys to get out of my way.

I continued on through the brown flat country and eventually found the back way into Monument and then to the nice abode of Susan and Jessica Rose. It's a nice place set up on a hillside looking out across the valley to the mountains on the other side. Pike's Peak is there. I arrived at 2:51 pm.
I got out of the truck and ring the bell next to the front door and it is opened by none other than Jessica Rose, She's a tall one, and dressed casually neat. I'm welcomed into their home and she introduces to a much shorter better half by the name of Susan. Hugs given and received, we sat at the dining table and engaged in the usual getting to know each other chit chat.
Jessica Rose was working from home so she disappeared downstairs to her home office while Susan and I talked. And did we talk... I thorough enjoyed our conversation. She made me feel validated as she and I talked just as two women would talk getting to know one another talking about all sorts of things. Things like family issues transgender family issues and acceptance, Medications and health. Talk about foods, cooking and things that should not pass our lips. Our talk was at times serious and other time light hearted and punctuated with laughter. Oh it was such fun. It was such a pleasure.
Jessica Rose would make an appearance occasionally to check on us letting us know she was still around. I was fed lunch of a cold cuts and cheese sandwich with chips during one of her appearances. Susan and I talked and laughed some more, until Jessica Rose announced that she had to go do some onsite work and would return in a couple hours. We told her goodbye and continued our talk.
I can honestly say that one of the highlights of my wanderings have been those private talks with the spouses of the ladies I have met here. It Began with Tia Anne's Debi, then Faith's Lori, Monica's Ann, and lastly Jessica Rose's Susan. All have been a delight to talk with. We took several breaks to walk their two dogs and I brought in my trunk sized overnight bag, pharmacy and laptop .We were still yakking when Jessica rose returned with mumblings of going to dinner.
Jessica was singing the praises of the fried catfish at Cheddar's in Colorado Springs so we got in their car and off we went. We did indeed order the catfish. Theirs's were ordered fried and mine blackened. It was good too so I was fed well by my hosts and enjoyed more conversation over dinner. We then returned home and the three of us sat in their living room and talked some more. Until it was announced that it was time to retire. Susan had shown me toon of their daughter's rooms earlier, still intact awaiting her return. It was a nice room with a comfortable bed. I slept well that night. It had been more than 24 hours since I had slept last so I was out with the light.
In the morning I woke late got dressed and went in search of coffee. Fortunately for the inhabitants there was some ready to be consumed. As I sat at the table nursing my coffee and sorting my daily pills, Susan was preparing breakfast. I am sorry Susan but I cannot remember now what you prepared but I do remember it was good. Thank you.
After breakfast it was time for pictures. Jessica set up her camera and the production was on. Did I mention Jessica Rose loves taking pictures and moonlights as a softball team photographer. She also takes nice scenic pictures too. Several pictures were taken before she had the shots she wanted. Soon I was all packed again and though I was invited to spend another night with Susan and Jessica Rose I had to decline. It was time to head on down the road to Loveland Colorado and my rendezvous with Tia Anne and Debi. Laurie, thanks for the kind words! I wish I could have spent more time with you that first day, but I had a system change to install and for some reason my employer requires that I occasionally work! Susan and I both enjoyed your visit, and you are more than welcome to stop by again any time your travels bring you out this way.
Thank you Jessica Rose and Susan for hosting me in your home. I think I may just hold you to that invitation sometime in the future so we can visit more.
