THE sex-swap builder who CASTRATED himself has proudly declared: I am a LESBIAN.

"Howard Shelley—now called Holli after he cut off his testicles with a kitchen knife—admits still lusting after women, but as a woman."
QuoteThe 44-year-old took drastic DIY action after a doctor said he had to live as a woman for two years before being considered for a sex-swap op.
But the dad-of-two couldn't stand another moment as a man, so scoured the internet for a home surgery guide.
He then waited for wife Janet to go out, and—in just six minutes and without anaesthetic—sliced off his nuts and dumped them in the kitchen bin.
Without a hint of regret, Holli told the News of the World: "It's the best bit of DIY I've ever done. I instantly felt like a woman."
After a visit to hospital to tidy up his handiwork, Howard ditched his job at the women-only building firm that his wife Janet set up, kitted himself out in women's clothes and started a course of female growth hormones.
There's a reason the standards of care exist. I'm not saying she was wrong to do this, but she's DAMN lucky she didn't bleed to death. Take note those who are desperate - don't do this! It's too risky and could mess things up if you plan on having srs in the future. The emergency trip to the hospital must've cost her a fortune.
I only hope her own SRS goes well and she gets what she wants. Still, I feel bad for the ex-wife, Janet.
she's DAMN lucky she didn't bleed to death
The rest of us, not so much.

Because of the negative press this gives to trans-people? Making us all seem like crazy self-mutilators?
Well, A: a lack of balls does not make you a woman or a lez, or else the entire Bush administration would be considered butch dykes.
B: I go out on a regular basis drinking with a guy who did fifteen years for murder one. He beat a guy to death in the parking lot of a bar some 18 years ago. You can bet I try (and anyone who knows me knows I have to really try) not to piss him off. Just in case.
So, what do you say when the guy next to you says, "I cut off me balls with a knife." Other than "So, how's that working out for you?"

I'd choose my words carefully in that case, Tekla. First I would probably say "Ok, that's nice." then "So, how's that working out for you?"
/Sigh
this is the only kind of coverage we will probably ever get n the news of the world,
get used to being portrayed as mad mutilators, its the only kind of story a toilet paper like that does im afraid.

Unfortunately so. These are the kind of stories that get published on the front pages. She's a lesbian? so? big deal. I know quite a few girls that are.
While I wouln't recommend it, I kind of admire her...balls just doesn't seem right! Hutzpah? I'm not real keen on the paternalism embodied in the SOC and in many doctors. The SOC doesn't say anything about orchidectomy, by the way. She's not the only person whose done this. She just happened to get a lot of press.

but she's a lesbian ts & most people equate sexual orientation with gender identity. "isn't she supposed to like men now?" kinda thing. end result, hallibalu! ;)

Nah, according to the bigots we usually persuade a professional to help us mutilate our bodies, turning our penises inside out and calling that a sex change.
OTOH it might persuade less close-minded people that if we're prepared to go to such desperate lengths, it might actually be something serious.
(The point being, those who want to view us as self-mutilating freaks will do so however gracefully we attempt to do what we need to do, we're still doing something that seems crazy to close-minded people)
