My name is my female name. I rarely use the name I was given at birth on the internet. I don't see a point... since I am a female.

I gave me female side the name of Alice.

A simple process from Alan -> Al -> Alice.

I like it when people call me Al.

Hello Jillieann.

I use my real (legal) name (Not always a prudent thing to do on the net).  It's special to me simply because I chose it.  There are no hidden meanings behind it, and I didn't choose it because it contains the names of people who I admire.  For some reason I've always liked Stephanie so that's the name I went with.  It's my name and I like it :) :)

"Chaunte" is a double morph of my legal name.  It's double because the original spelling was taken by morphing my name into the English spelling, and then it morphing it again into French.

Chaunte means a female singer, which is what I am.

"Kate" is the most similar to my male name that I can think of. It also allows me to keep my initials, and I can write it fairly well.

Plus, I kinda have crushes on Kate Beckinsale (as the Underworld vamp) and Cate Blanchett (especially as Galadriel).

And strangely, I kinda like that it's not particularly feminine or soft sounding. Yea, I know, weird thing for a m2f to say...

good idea for a poll jilleann!!

my screen name is wolfie because i'm a total game nerd and that's part of my gamer tag when i'm playing xboxlive ("battle wolfie"). it originated when i was 13 and wanted to have a name to enter on the screen that wasn't my legal name and that was masculine, so i chose "wolverine" (who's more masculine than wolverine from the x-men!?... other than the whole wearing yellow spandex thing). It then slowly morphed into battle wolfie and then just wolfie. *shrugs* i blame it on hours infront of a tv screen with a controller glued to my palms.

tino is the short form of "acentino" which was my papa's (grandpas) name. my grandma said i should take it. i miss him, we got along really well, he passed 5 years ago, feels like yesterday.

Since my parents named me "Josh", I simply looked for the next closest thing.  Jocelyn.  My MtF name was chosen to make it easy for my friends to remember.  If they accidently called me by the wrong name in public while I was dressed up, they could almost seemlessly slide into the right name.  Then, of course, I realized it's a nice name and I became attached to it.

Little Lynn is common alias I use online based on what a friend called me once.  I go to a couple forums under that name, although I'm a GG as far as they're concerned on any other forum.

Susan has been a long time favorite name of mine. It took a long time to work through the list of neat girl names, not because there aren't so many choices, because there are so many wonderful ones. Susan is mine, not in recognition of anyone. The middle name actually may be temporary, because when I needed more than Susan for my I.D. I grabbed Kay from my list. Short, sweet and petite (no, wait, that's The Adamms Family). Anyway, my third grade teacher was Elizabeth and she was my favorite, and I may yet adopt it for my middle name.

I choose to use my real name as it was given to me. This will change as I have been exploring ways to feminize my name.  How about this,  " Owena"  I looked up on the internet on possible feminine names for myself and came up with this one. A feminized  version of Owen wich is a welsh name meaning ' well born' .  I will look into other more common names as well.

When I originally transitioned in 1993, I tried various female names that started with S, the first letter of my name at birth. Sally Ann, Sabrina... none of them quite fit and so I made up the name Zythyra. I like that it doesn't have a recognized gender attached. That's the name I use here

The name that I use here is the name that I gave my feminine side when I was in my teens--so I have used this name for myself for almost 50 years.  I never told anyone else about my femme name until I started surfing the net about a decade ago.

My femme name is the feminine version of my middle name (which I never use, except as an initial).  It is also the name of the first girl that I had a crush on in gradeschool.  It is not a very common name but I like it because it is French and it sounds pretty.

When I am in an androgynous mood I will refer to myself as Lou.

Genevieve is a French name I fell in love with. I seem to like the letter G.  *giggles*

My real name when I get there is going to be:

Gwyneth Delilah

Gwyneth is from the same origins, both in locality and time, as my male name. I like my male name but it does not fit the true me.

Delilah is just pretty.  :)

I'm going to keep my given surname.

i chose made-up name... but that was the best category i could fit it into.

But it's not really made up. It comes from the word Wishfire which is an album name from my favourite band, Cruxshadows.

On that album is a spoken track called "Before the Fire" and it goes like this:

"I have made life and experience from the imaginations of youth
I have slept a million nights below the darkness of silence
I am the incarnation of your delusions,
or your insights...
I am the voice of warning
I am the thread which ties life to reality
I am your guardian
I am the wishfire..."

Those lyrics speak the very truth behind my life. It is who i am, what i feel. The very courage lies in those words that get me from day to day, the strength and beleif. So when i started using the internet, this was my chosen netname. After chatting for a while on a particular forum, i got nicknamed Wishy, which has stuck with me.

Actually it's pretty simple.  There have been a few Julies in my life.  I've liked them all.  I've always liked the name.  Jim and Julie start with the same initial.  Marie is a family middle name that has been carried on for centuries.  And the Julies I have known have all been lovely people, both inside and out.  I hope I can live up to the image.

Julie Marie Moriarty

PS:  My last name is real.  We come from County Kerry in Ireland.  The place is loaded with transsexuals.  Did you see "Waking Ned Devine"?

Interestingly, the name my parents were originally going to give me was a J name. My grandparents told them "you can't name your kid that!" So it's probably good that I picked the one I did.

I've considered changing my screen name to include my real name but haven't decided for sure yet. On one hand, it'd be more personal, but on the other, it kind of shows off my geekyness having an upside down username. :D

Borrowed wasn't an option...My Name I borrowed from an anime character in Neon Genesis Evangelion she was a artificially created and was murdered at a very young age and cloned(a lot) each time with her mind transfered into the new body and as such she was living knowing something was not right with her since she carried the memory of her own death and while Thankfully that is something that I do not have myself as that would be more than I could handle. She was always distant with most people but Confided herself with shinji's Father since he saved her during a test on EVA-00. Myself I love the name I am obsessed with Japaneese culture and one of my major goals is to soem day visit Japan. If you Haven't Seen NGE you should it is very well written even in English . Other than that I like the name Rei Ayanami it suits me somewhat if you know the char and if by chance you ever meet me in real life.

Oddly enough I came up with Madison AFTER my last transition attempt, yeah I know should have been huge clue.  As for my middle name, I'm sure my mother is going to kill me since its the family middle name for all the females.

My sis named her kid alexis and honestly (is that a millinium or whatever era 13 year olds are) it is over used and abused!  Gawd.. add insult to injury and she named her son years later alex....
Funny enough that is a gender neutral name huh?????
is there a post anywhere where we were asked to list gender neutral names like Alex-Andy-Renee-Adrian-etc...
I like Adrian too!

I picked Brady for my male side simply because I like the name.  I was considering Landon for a while and having my middle name be Brady, but Brady suits my personality. Once I start the transition, I will get it legally changed.

I'm using my chosen male name. I'm going to get my name changed legally to Yorick Oliver B_______ as soon as I can (which could be a while T_T).
I picked Yorick because: It's neither common nor weird sounding, I don't know any other guys with Y names, and it's related to the name George, which is a family name and the masculine form of my birth name.
I'm making Oliver my middle name because it's also a family name and because I like it. I would have made this my first or middle name anyway.

I also like this name because the initials spell "boy" when reversed.
"Yob" may have a negative meanings attached to it but I don't mind. It's not like most of the people I come across will even notice, unless I move to the UK.

Found some more 'fairy pics' Tink and will try to link them . . . .

The name "Kiera" was inspired from a young lady that I actually met not too long ago, a beautiful and 'troubled' friend of my 8 year old daughter that my heart and prayers have gone out to . . . .

My name here at Susan's place comes from a good friend of mine's nickname for me.  My two best friends are married to each other, and their first child couldnt pronounce my name when he was first starting to talk.  It begins with the letter 'd' so he just called me D.  The mother started calling me D sort of as a joke, but now several years later the whole famliy still calls me D.  So when I came up with my female name, it came naturally.  Dee :)

So my name is an unexpected gift from one of my best friends.

  Greetings all,

My name here is actually my real middle name.  I had my middle name
changed to joanna almost one year ago.

It was a scary but really simple process.  The Judge only asked one
question and it took only five minutes.  My middle initial is still the
same so it does not make much difference on most documentation.

It is a wonderful feeling knowing that my feminine being can be
expressed openly and not hidden away in some dark corner anymore.

  Sincerely.

No, not really. It's a draggy sort of name to describe my over-wrought and unstable state of mind since GRS and the weird effect the post-op hormones have on me compared to my pre-op ones. It's also a reflection of the many troubles I've faced in my life, my stressed work state, and also the (seemingly) endless lots of surgery that I have to keep on going back for...

Not easy going, a bit too intense, but good for a laugh now and then.

My real name is Yves the patron saint of Britany and pronounced like the name Eve in English (the s is silent). My feminine side his Ma Eve (My Eve in French) which give Maeve (english spelling of) Maebh (the Irish name of) the Warrior Queen of Connaught.  A bit circular maybe but very much in the Celtic tradition.
Anyway I always liked Maebh who started the war against Ulster by stealling the brown bull of Cooley to teach a lesson to her husband Aillil who "ran with the hares". It means that he was selfish in bed, hello Mam, hohoo Mam, thank you Mam...  with no regard to her fulfillment!
With Graine (Grace O'Malley) the Pirate Queen of Clew Bay who conversed in Latin with Elizabeth I of England to get her son held hostage in the Tower of London released, who also kidnaped then bedded the Saint Leger's son of Howth Castle where she had been refused hospitality, they are good exemple of the free Connaught spirit that I can feel pulsating in my heart, mind and body.

The name i use on here, Astyria, is actually a made-up name that I regularily use in games.  Yea, games... I'm 35, but what can I say.  Think I play them (mmorpgs) since they give me an outlet to be female...of sorts.

My real name is Michael.

I am still searching for my feminine name, which I may actually legally change to be my real name...I am thinking that i would like to keep my initials, and i dont want to "disappoint" my mother too much (and my wife loves my name)...so I'm thinking of a variation on Michael that could be taken either way.  I'm thinking of Michele.

I think I could pull that off.

But i digress =p.

I discovered my name when, way too many years ago, I tricked my mom into telling me what I'd have been named had I been born correctly--i.e., female. She didn't decide on a middle name for me, so I'm stuck with just "Brittany" until I figure something out.

As an aside, I also play MMORPGs for that very reason--it lets me be myself, at least in a virtual environment. Usually in those, I use Keeria, a name I made up for them (most people shorten it to Kee).

The fe/male side options might be aimed at the cross-dresser, bigender, androgyne, and non-binary gendered folks here at Susan's. Originally, I identified as androgyne and my "female side" was named Donna Alvote (Italian for "lady at times").

Since I'm out everywhere else in my lift, I recently changed my display name to my real name: Connie Anne.

My name is Padmavyuha (I was ordained as a Buddhist 15 years ago) and means 'an array of lotuses' (and rhymes with panther-view-her). And it's gender-neutral, and it's my legal name, and I want to keep it. I often spare people the last 2 syllables until we know each other well ;D.

I'm been confused recently, though, because last summer, during a singing camp, I met the little girl in me who never had a voice (or a name) - I told her she could choose a name, and a few days later, she told me her name is Na'ama. This is a Hebrew name, meaning 'pleasant, gracious, lovely'.

It's not my name, it's hers - the girl who got kept in a coma to protect her from the abuse the boy was getting. So I'm not taking this as my name as a woman, but it's still very meaningful to me. If I ever decide to stop being Padmavyuha, I will become Na'ama, I suspect. But I'm very happy to be Padmavyuha.

At yafah, Na'ama xx

When i went to choose a name, I looked at names that were being used to name girls in the year of my birth (1969).  I wanted mine to be appropriate for my age.  Aubrey was still a newer name for girls then, so it was a little unusual.  (It's origins are male, and there are still men named Aubrey today.... go figure).  And it flows with my last name.  So I kept going on with it in my head, and it made sense and felt right....

I was not going to have a middle name, but when i was filling out the name change paperwork, I suddenly thought of my mom, who is still having some problem with this.  (Still a lot of guilt, still not really wanting to lose her son, but still loves me very much).  So I called her up and asked her if it would be ok to take her name as my middle name, as an homage to her.  She was very touched and cried a little (happy, not sad).  So suddenly, I was Aubrey Patricia.   :)

I chose the FtM option, but that's because there wasn't a real one for me.  I asked my friends for an androgynous first name and my friend came up with "Lynn" and I fell for it.  The middle name was always going to be Gabriel because I've always felt drawn to it.  The name "Lynn Gabriel" seems a nice androgynous name so I use it on this forum.

It's part of my FtM name. I've started going by Jayden Tyler or Jayden "Kyle" (O.O I might have just given something away) so I shortened it for my user name.

Morty, which is short for Mortimer, is a name I've used most of my life. It started off as a bit fo a silly joke... I am apprenticing as a mortician, and mortuary sciences are something I've been interesting in most of my life... people would call me 'Mort', which essentially means death in french, to my knowledge.
I like the sound of the name Mortimer, so I've just used it.
My family is Doukhobor Russian, and my actual name is strange and quite a mouthful. (It's Aijia.) Though that name is uni-sex, I still rather dislike it, and it sounds too feminine to me.
Some people still call me by that name, though, but mostly close friends and family.

Marion is a name I've chosen for online while I transition. It's based on a female persona I developed when younger (and I thought I had to 'pretend' to be a girl) named Mary.

A friend of mine presented me with a list of names he thought worked for me, and it was on there, so I figured it must actually work for me, if we both thought of it.

I've been using Tossu-sama as my internet name ever since 2006 and it kinda stuck. :P Sometimes it's in the form TossuSama because some sites don't allow hyphens in nicknames.

Sometimes I use LordLauri (Tumblr, for example) which contains my name.

Donna is my real name which I chose because it sounds very similar to my original name and it was thus far easier for people to get used to at least this aspect of the changes I have gone through.

Donna Elivira is just because I love opera. For those who are curious, here is one of the best known arias  from Don Giovanni, sung by my namesake (if impatient go directly to 2min 14sec) : Joyce DiDonato as Donna Elvira - Mi tradi quell'alma ingrata - BETTER QUALITY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tggGYJ9xh68#)....

Bises

My name here is Sentience, and that was by mistake. I thought it would be my password or something administrative. (I am actually fascinated by the concept of "sentience"). All my life I pondered what female name I would select. Christine was a name that I never really liked, so when I eventually needed a name to tell my friends..............I chose Christine! Anyway after a couple of years I thought, no no no, so now it's Molly and it just feels right. It's also my legal team because in Scotland (unlike England where deed poll is required) you can just change your name and that's it. Ta Dah! (So long as it is not for fraudulent purposes).

My legal name is already female, so I'm kind of lucky.  I actually have used a male variant of it for most of my life.  If I was to change it though I'd probably geek out and do something like Samus because she's my favorite heroine figure and it would hold a lot of meaning to me.  I just pretend Other M didn't happen.

As for Phoenix26.  I chose it because of the whole "rising from the ashes" thing and because I like X-Men and relate with what the series symbolizes in terms of being TG.

"Jane" comes from a VERY old nickname, Calamity Jane, that I earned as a teen because I was a crack shot and out-shot all the boys.

Northern is because I am north of the 49th and because "Jane" wasn't available by itself

i really like the idea that your parents or your mom have to choose your name. my name, svenja, was also a wish of my mom and
in the same way, the fem version of "sven" - my old boyish name i had to grow up with  :D
so it was kind of a logical consequence in both ways ... :)

It was how I came out to mom..  I told her..

Me:  "I know this is going to be very hard to ask, but.. Mom, if I was born a girl, what would my name have been?"

Mom:   "Well, I always wanted to call you Paula Christine, but your father said, "no, the only Christine he knew was Christine Jorgensen and no kid of mine was going to be named after a sex change person!"

"Perfect", I said... "Figures I would have been named after a transgendered woman..  because, I am one"

I decided to not register with the male name I use in life (I'm FtM) because it's a male name in Italy but female in all other countries. I didn't want to be misgendered ;) I guess the english translation of it would be Andrew.

I was watching Strawberry Panic like the same week I signed up for Susans, Hikari is a character in that show.

Now, that being said, I am not really sure why I don't use my chosen name. It made sense back when I was hiding my face, city, age, etc but now it makes alot less sense, people really wouldn't have much trouble figuring out who I am if they wanted to.
