Kim Petras, a 16 year old girl from Germany has a sex change surgery in her age of 16 years. She is a singer, and also a beauty. and she is very popular in Great Britain.
Always this "world youngest..."
I asked Dr. Sam Winter from the University of Hong Kong. He is doing alot of research in Thailand, Vietnam etc.
"With regard to transition histories, we found that many participants had transitioned very early in life, beginning to feel different to other males, and identifying as non-male by middle childhood. By adolescence many were living a transgendered life. Many took hormones, beginning to do so by a mean age of 16.3 years, and several from as early as 10 years. Many underwent surgeries of various kinds, on average in the twenties, with one undergoing SRS as early as 15 years."
copied from his publication "Thai transgenders in focus: demographics, transitions and identities."
regards Jaqueline
In the countries there are different regulations, when somebody who is transsexual gets hormones, or can go to a surgeon. Kim was recognized as transsexual when she was 8 years old. At the age of 11 years she got hormones, and at the age of 16 years she might be operated with a special approval (the 21st year is standard where this is allowed in Germany).
I find, the earlier can be begun with it if it is unequivocal, the better is it.
No matter what this is still a great story. Unlike most MTF she was able to prevent what most of us have to correct. She has a very feminine voice in her music but she still needs a lot of practice I think. But in any event, she is a success story for sure.
Here is an interview with her on youtube.
This Morning -Worlds Youngest Transsexual; Kim Petras (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4U55kGd4kA#)
Yah seeing her growing up as a girl essentially makes me envious bigtime.
I know thats years of my life I can never get back and yah you got the fact that your bones and pre-puberty growth can be modified correctly before they're permanent.
I realy dont like people they use transsexuality for their benefit like she do.
"oh i am the youngest transsexual in the world (whats a lie).. and beside i sing"
Get a popstar because of your 'work' not of your exotic.
Dana International for example.. she performed at gay/lesbian/trans clubs in
Tel Aviv before she got famouse. even today she do.
I didnt hear from a Kim Petras performing at the gay pride parade in Cologne what
is about 15km far away from her place and the biggest parade in germany.
And this, i realy dont like.
Quoteshe is very popular in Great Britain.
Strange because I have never heard of her.... ???

Actually she used AutoTune, so that's not even true.

I was thinking the same... :-\
She is/was (because my guess is she is becoming a has been even as we write this) making a huge mistake, people who get famous for being a 'novelty' are always consigned to that status. No matter how many great songs she might ever do - doubtful - she will always be 'a transexual' first, a singer (not really) second. And being a 'second' place singer is to never be a star.
i think that she is absolutely wonderful.
how many positive transsexual examples are there in the media? there's lots of news about us getting killed or movies that make us look like clowns. yet, here is a girl that is changing the way people think about us, changing it for the better. changing how young trans people are medically treated. being treated soon enough to actually look like a woman. i dont care if she uses autotune or if she ever played a LGBT festival. everyone uses some form of pitch control these days and she is taking transsexual issues to the people that need it most..... the closed minded that exist outside the trans community.
BRAVO!! KIM PETRAS!!
Media at all (especially TV) is nothing positive. Most time you can compare them
with an old american Circus from the Wild West.
"attentione attraktione"
"tonight... we proudly presents... the man with two heads..."
"aaaand.. the singing boygirl..."
When you read the internet about Kim and komments about her you will find alot
posts like "omg.. you have to be so careful that your girlfriend is not a boy"
So it dosn't change the mind of the People. It's anyhow just another sensation
presented on TV.
Looks all girl to me :icon_chick:

You're wrong! The biggest Gay pride is in.... Berlin!!!! And our Mayor ist gay, too. Also in West Germany it was the first Place for a Gay pride.
I'm sad that she or others use the term "transsexual". After the surgery and become a new ID, she isn't transsexual.Maybe a "women/Girl with transsexual past, but not more than that.
I guess, it is a huge money thing made by her producer and manager.
She is going to be a 'transsexual' so long as she does 8 minute interviews and doesn't start talking about music till the 7:12 mark.

the biggest was, is and will be in Cologne (2009 Cologne 700k and Berlin 500k, in 2002 in cologne the biggest in Europe with 1.2 million ppl)..
What else than a transsexual is she? in fact even if you finish the transition, you are transsexual. When you die, and they will dig you out after years, the will find bones of a guy (and maybe some silicone :P). Or if you watch straight biologic to it, post op mtf are guys with an inverted penis.
I am post op since 13 Years. And even if my ID changed and my birth document say "born as female" i have my transsexual past. Or is it because i didnt wrote "transidentity"?
I know its very provocative, but in fact it is like this. So dont take it so hard as it prolly sounds :)
She is a big deal, sort of, on Utube, which does not translate into big money. You need hits in the charts, not on your MySpace page to do that. Seeing how she is not touring, I doubt that she, or her manager, are making very much.
This thread makes me sick... why not just be happy for someone like us who is happy? Get over yourselves.

I know this seems random but...
DAAAAAYUM, she has REALLY nice hair!
I just think she is getting bad horrible professional advice. You never want to be a _______ singer, or a ________ act, because you never lose that (fill in the blank) and it's always going to come first, before what you do, and before your name. That's why Elton John and Rob Halford fought it for so long. Sir Elton would never have got beyond being gay singer Elton John. Having made it first, people think Elton John, singer/songwriter who is also gay - and that's a huge difference. Halford and Judas Priest would never have made it beyond being Big Leather Daddy Rob and his band Judas Priest. But having waited till they were established, that became a huge part of the act, but never overshadowed what they were doing.
(And, for the record, Rob Halford did more for LGBT artists than anyone else I can think of. He made it OK to be gay to a huge group of people who otherwise would have never been reached.)
I worked for years with a beautiful local singer/songwriter named Holly Near. She should have had hits, but never did. She could never escape being lesbian/woman recording artist Holly Near, and its a shame she never got past that and just allowed to be Holly Near.
And also for the record, I could take a voice sample of anyone here, run it though AutoTune and have you singing arias from La Bohème perfectly. Except you wouldn't be singing, it would sort of be your voice - which is what she is doing - but its the computer singing, not you.
But if these interviews, on the TV, and in all the press are any indication Kim is always going to be stuck talking about her transition for 7 1/2 minutes of every 8 minute interview, at the end of which will be tacked on, 'oh yeah, she sings.' Bad career move.

Your opinion: "Once transsexual - always transsexual", is YOUR opinion. Others, as well as I, see it different. The concept of Trans-sexuality describes the gender change (right-wise "change of the gender role") of a person, and begins, according to Dr. Pfäffin, from the time where a person defines himself as transsexual. And he ends if, a person is reproductive-incapable after occurred surgical intervention (according to German law)), permanently and is divorced. And, two consultants must confirm the diagnosis. If the former transsexual individual gets the documents, is he or she, at least according to German law not to call more than transsexual. It is even punishable to do this (it stands in the Transsexual Law, published 1981). In Germany we can marry even (heterosexually). If we are homosexual, only the "2 nd class marriage (domestic partners) are available.
In other countries it may look different, but in Germany it is in such a way. But it doesn't matter what authorities or doctors say, our self-image is important! If we think that we are treated as equal to a woman (with certain deductions), we will appear as completely different; when somebody who believes to be transsexual for ever.
And, by the way, it is not so imprtant which gay pride is bigger or smaler. it is important that we are a part of the GAY PRIDE. And, Hon, we all as Humans have a past! And sometimes it is more horrible than a transsexual past.
Your opinion: "Once transsexual - always transsexual", is YOUR opinion. Others, as well as I, see it different.
All of which is totally, 100% irrelevant in this case. She is always going to be a transsexual. That's how she got started, not as a singer, but as the youngest person to have a sex change. For now, and as far as we can tell, forever, when you Google her name, what's going to come up? These articles and interviews are always going to be there in the same way that for a whole lot of people here - about my age - see the name CHER and instinctively think 'Sonny and' in front of it. For Cher that was not a career breaker, in fact, it was a career maker, Sonny never got the credit outside the industry that he deserved, but for Kim, she's never going to get past it. It was horrible career (and no doubt personal) advice to let her do these interviews, and to have this be made public information before she even recorded a record. Had she had a couple of hits, a big tour, lots of TV exposure, and then, THEN, it came out - it would have made her a sensation. As it is, its a boat anchor around her neck.

I attended a Holly Near songwriting workshop many years ago, to this day I often come back to a couple of key points she taught. Great writer and powerful singer!

I mostly agree with tekla.
Ok, Elton John and his homosexuality.. when he got successful there wasnt the Time to
say "i am gay"
But look at George Michael or some other younger Singer who are successful and Gay.
Their Management prevent that it comes to the truth. They dont want have fringe
group Star.
With Kim is the absolute oposite way. She came well known from the TV Show "Stern TV"
and they are not interested in 'just another child that wants to be a popstar'. They want
a sensation, so the 'youngest Post-OP TS' (what she isnt) was born.
I await the Day where she is fighting against the Doctors, because they made an non adult
unable to produce kids. :) Or she fights against her parents they permit the surgery >:-)
good grief. what about this girl warrants so much negative reaction? It's a nice story. the end.
Whether she's the youngest or not or if anyone likes her music is irrelevant
She is a beautiful young t-girl who is making her way in life and expressing herself
So what's up with the negative crap? This is a site dedicated to the support of trans. people
Sure, we may not always agree on everything, but is being a constant knock down necessary?
Makes me glad for the positive folks that are around
So, with all the 'support' she's getting here, anyone pay to download her songs - I think she has 4 on iTunes. eTunes and Napster - or is it all just lip service? Thought so.
And that's the huge difference between the g/l community and us, we don't support our own. Holly Near never did well, but at least the woman's movement bought enough of her records that she still has a marginal career in music. And in SF, when no one else was playing Sylvester, the gay community did, the gay DJs did, and it went from there, to mainstream clubs, to becoming a hit.
i have 4.... but then again, i also like electronic music. :icon_geekdance:
i wish her the best, but whether or not she actually ever becomes a "real" pop star is not that important to me. she has already accomplished more of my deepest desires then i will ever be able. i wish that i had that kind of person to look up to in my early teens. most of my life i never even thought that it was possible to do what she has done and up until the last four years i thought that id end up looking like benny hill.
Newest Song Im working on Tell me what you think (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lqFS7mU5ro&feature=sub#)
Wishing people the best in show biz is a double edged sword. Fame has a huge downside that kills a lot of people.
But I hope she is happy in whatever it is she winds up doing, and as we say "don't quit your day job."

I don't understand why you're dispatching career advice to us, for her. None of us are pop stars. And she's not here to read your advice.
We get it. You know how to make a pop star.
Now can you talk nice about her? Or does her self value only matter to you if she goes gold?
Don't worry, He doesn't like platinum album sellers either.
I figure why poke a badger with a stick? :icon_poke: Other than it's kinda entertaining sometimes
Singin Die for you with my sister , just for fun ^^ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPRXZf5GeLc#ws)

Yeah good luck to her , she is pretty , hope she does well for herself , wish i had the guts to of told my parent when i was her age , ah well i suppose its never too late ;D

Sober Truth feat. Kim - Ghostrider (live & raw) @ MAD CLOWN 15th. Anniversary (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L8cZy7kEXM&#)
All I can say is she is very very lucky to have understanding parents so she could start her treatment early and avoid costly surgery and lots of emotional pain. Good on her! Go Kim!!
;)
I'm not a fan but I'm happy for her ,she is a cute singer.....But Dana International is a whole new level, I went to see her when she came to NYC....OMG she had parents, kids, different nationalities, all genders there to see her (I'm latin I speak nothing of hebrew and yes I have every CD she has ever made in any language) but trust me her hebrew music transcends race ,nationalities, or genders, she is a superstar in her own right(by far I would dare say she is the most famous transexual in the world, remember 2008 eurovision)......I hope Kim mattures in her carrier to the level of success that Dana has, or who knows even bigger....I'm happy for the both of them!
On a TV Show in Germany (Stern-TV) I saw that Kim had her sex change made in 2008 or 2009 and she looks quite happy. She maybe had a boyfriend as far as I saw in that show. I made a copy on DVD from that show (14 minutes her part). Unfortunately in German.
I got some pics shot from a TV show from Germany about Kim and her transsition. Can I post them here, and how must I do it to bring them from my pc to our web page?
BTW , after you finished your transsition, you're not trans anymore in a judical way and also in a physical way. Remeber, Biology is NOT destiny!

True - but it is kind of an individual decision how anyone chooses to identify.
By the way back on topic I LOVE Kim's music ever since I found her on itunes. I have her as my ringtone and I have all her tracks.

The determining is as I define myself, then as that of the legislators or the state acts, and at the end then, like churches, family, friends, etc. define ts. If a legal-directed fart of the American tea party movement (e.g., Glenn Beck) would define me wrong, it would, as we say in Germany, pass to my ass". Hey, we also have rights as tax-paying citizens, and if such an a***hole wants to denied our rights, there are still the laws which can hinder him in it.

Yeah - but I'm in the UK and not America - and here in the UK we now have civilised laws so I am unambiguously female.
Although sadly I've been postop for the best part of 30 years and the law was only changed here about five years ago. But hey we got there in the end. :)
My point was that law is one thing. How WE define ourselves is the really important thing.
UK? Harry Potter Country? Great!
It becomes a time that there is an equal right for transsexual people in Europe. My birth certificate was altered in female. I may marry a man, may go on the ladies' room. I also have the same rights and duties, how any other woman. I know that is not in Europe everywhere so. This is why there should be for us also a uniform administration of justice.
Europe isn't a country in the way America is and I doubt it ever will be.

Europe isn't a country in the way America is and I doubt it ever will be.
Hopefully the USA change their mind, but, if I see the "Tea party Movement", I doubt.
The principal difference here is that, while in the US, the central government weilds a lot of power and influence, the central government in Europe has comparitively little.
The problem in the US is that one of the principal tools used by the central government there has been to generate and play upon the insecurity Americans are taught, almost from birth.
America is not under any threat. It is un-invadable, even without its military machine.
The tea party is clearly an attempt to revive the supposed patriotism of the time of the declaration of independance. This is a direct reference to the generated fears that America is being taken over from within. The over-reaction to the claims of building a mosque on ground zero are a case in point. The mosque is already there, it's just a rebuild. The site is some distance from ground zero. But the claim of a mosque being build over the dead bodies of 9/11 is enough to cause fear. Obama had little choice but to defend freedom of worship since he swore to do just that.
At a recent Washington rally by the tea party Glenn Black talks about winning America back for god. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-11114172 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-11114172)
This has echos of the early 50s when the spector of communism was generated to the extent that an extra line, referencing God was put into the oath of allegence.
It's all quite astonishing to the outside observer.
