Hey all dont know if there is a thred already but whats your fav Anime of all time!!
I'm going to cheat because i have 2 muwhahahah >:-)
Elfin Lied
Vampire Knight and Vampire Knight (Guilty)
:)
Also as a side whats the worst dubbed anime you've seen my vote number one is Vampire princess miyu, the english voice actors SUCKED
I don't know. Maybe I'll vote for Ghost in The Shell.
The easiest answer there is for me
FULL METAL ALCHEMIST!
READY STEADY GO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v10rvqPH-L4&feature=fvw#lq-hq)
I also liked Cowboy Beebop a ton.
I've seen a few different series of different genres so I'd have to make a split decision. I'd say for a sorta action/fantasy series Naruto, Bleach or hack//SIGN. For comedy maybe Lucky star or Haruhi.
Evangelion. Easily, I know it's over hyped and over appretiated but I still love it.
After that? Ranma half of course (I'm just so cliche!)
Then jungle wa itsumo hale nochi gu
Gilgamesh. Followed by a multiple tie for second: burst angel/outlaw star/zoids.
i use to love ta watxh sailor moon in japan.
I'm obsessed with Death Note
I used to really love fist of the north star too but I only saw a few episodes here and there....not watched it in forever, old and hard to find
All time??? Hm... only one.... Elfen Lied.
FMA is a good one.
I also like Hellsing.
Just finished Eureka Seven not that long ago... not a bad story but a bit Emo.
I've been trying to watch that Bleach one but it just doesn't hold my attention.
watched about one season of Naruto and lost interest in that also.
(this post modified a bazillion times by me)
GAH... One I haven't been able to finish that I'd like to see the rest of the series is 'daughter of 20 faces'.... started watching that but couldn't find translated episodes past 20(ish)
yay u like Elfen lied too!! IT ROCKS i just LOVE IT
:D i do like FMA as well ooh and Claymore
My favorite anime would have to be Cardcaptor Sakura.
As for the worst anime dub, that would have to be Sailor Moon. -_- Seriously, did the actors and directors even TRY!?
I refuse to watch English dubbed versions unless there is no other way. I finished watching Hellsing in fan subtitle and stumbled onto the DVD with english voice over. I got through the first episode and stopped. Ever since then I haven't watched one in english.
From what I hear most of the voice over actors for American release anime sucks. Anyways, it's always nice to recognize japanese when I'm out in public and can at least understand some of the basic words.
my son has picked up a lot of Japanese like that.
For me, I loved the english voice acting in FMA and when I watched a couple of episodes of FMA Brotherhood in Japanese on line, I couldn't STAND the voices - they were not at all similar and it completely took me out of the story.
I dont see iot that way for the brotherhood series. I watched all 50 some odd shows in Japanese and then the movie in Japanese, then saw a few shows with the English and went Blah!
I havent seen more then the first of the brotherhood series though. not sure if I want to get that going again... I'd have to read the manga again just to brush up on the story =/
anything with bouncing anime tits!
I blame my kids for this but...dragonball Z
"Appleseed" is great for the graphics, but my favorite all-time is "My Neighbor Totoro", followed closely by "Spirited Away" or anything else by Hayao Miyazaki for that matter. He has a new one to be released in the US on August 14th called "Ponyo". Can't wait!
Ghost in the Shell/Special edition - tops the list
followed by all the G.I.T.S. stories..
But Princess Mononoke holds a very special place in my heart
Followed closely by anything else ever done by Miyazaki San
Then the list just gets longer..
Bubble Gum crisis Tokyo 2040
Love Hina
Space Pirate Mito
Glass Fleet
Excel saga
Please Teacher
I my me! Strawberry eggs
KashiMashi girl meets girl
Maburaho
Captain Herlock
The irresponsible Captain Tylor
Cowboy Beebop
Angelic Layer
Area 88
Gunslinger girl
Chobits
Galaxy Express 999
Full metal panic
Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi
Azu Manga Daio
Cosplay Complex
Comic Party
ok, I'll stop now..
I loved Elfen Lied.. but did that ever mess with my head, and that takes a lot.
When it comes to Anime, I say: "Itadakimasu!!" ;D
I'm pretty sure I have a list longer than Shana's, so I'll just list the last few I've enjoyed.
Code Geass was good, great story line, good character buildup, excellent plot. Then I watched through Gundam 00, which as far as gundam series go, is one of the best there is, even surpassing Wing. Now I'm in the middle of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brother hood, I love it, saw the first series, like this one better (I squealed when Roy fought Lust) and Shangri-la which is an interesting post-apocalyptic anime with a MtF trans as one of the main characters, interestingly enough.
By the power of the moon, I shall right wrongs and triumph over evil! And that means...YOU! ;)
I love Ergo Proxy, Inuyasha, Bleach, Anything by Hayao Miyazaki. umm i love Noir, Evangelion..omg way too much lol
Anything by Leiji Matsumoto, but especially Captain Harlock.
I got 3
InuYasha
Dragonball Series
Sailor Moon
I love that this thred is still alive :)
Here is a question is there any Lezbian anime that isnt full of er..sex LOL. You know an anime with a story and not just random loving. hehe

Those two need their own series.
Rosario + Vampire! it is so awesome i just love it! :D
Worst anime dubbed hmm ill say the recent series of pokemon i know the people are supposed to be growing up an all but seriously compare it to the first series ull see what i mean lol
Battle of the Planets and Starblazers
Yeah, they're old and BotP was a watered-down gaijin version of the Gatchman series. But, those were my faves.
I haven't watched much anime at all, but I really liked Death Note and Code Geass. I also loved Dragonball when I was a kid.
Macross (Robotech too), Ranma 1/2 (the lucky bastard), Inuyasha, Code Geas, Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon (Especially the Doom Tree season), Eureka 7 (just too much fun), Fruits Basket. I should stop now before I name them all...
Slight update...
I haven't read the manga for Fullmetal Alchemist but I like where the second run of the anime is going.
Funimation has the Brotherhood series on their website. Only Engrish Sub though, no voice overs yet.
I'm going to go ahead and say my favorite 3 are;
shuffle
death note
ghost in the shell
yeah, they rock =D
My favourites are
Appleseed (manga & all three movies)
Haibane Renmei
Princess princess
kasimasi
dominion tank police
bubblegum crisis
robotech
technoman
starblazers
stellvia of the universe
Full metal panic

I'm SO impatient for the Dub. I can't stand the original voices because I got so used to the Dub voices in the original series.
I've read that Brotherhood is sticking with the Manga instead of splitting off like the first one did.
Either Evangelion or Haibane Renmei... so tough between the two. Haibane makes me feel better about myself, but both are pretty introspective.
I don't really watch animé, but my favourite is Hetalia. The personification of countries along with historical events just really interests me,a s I love history and geography.
Dragonball and Sailor Moon dominated my childhood, and are still awesome as an adult. My favourite recent anime would have to be DeathNote.
Hrmm...one favorite?
.
Full Metal Alchemist was probably the best complete series I've seen.
Interesting characters & good story.
.
.
Otherwise...
Cowboy Bebop was good, if far too short. (Who could forget Edward?)
Utawarerumono was decent. (the series, not the game) (Interesting characters, and some decent music. Suara has a nice voice.)
Code Geas seemed interesting...always kept missing episodes though.
Kashimashi was short, but cute.
Bleach (1st season) was decent, at least, when the stuffed animals weren't on parade.
Ranma 1/2 was a little cheezy, but enjoyable none-the-less.
Inuyasha was fun, if a little juvenile at times. Good music though, both the J-pop intro/exit songs as well as what was composed for the series. The English dub was good, but having taken a little Japanese, I always enjoyed the sub-title version more. (Kaze no Kizu!)
Bleach
One Piece for me!
Usually I'm not into the long Shounen, but I'm a total One Piece fangirl. Its little (well, actually massive. lol) world has really sucked me into it. The characters are great, the story is interesting, and the action rarely feels pointless like other Shounen... If it does feel pointless the awesomeness of the characters makes up for it.
My other favorites are Trigun, Fullmetal Alchemist, Ouran High School Host Club, La Corda D'Oro, Monster, Death Note, etc.
I've seen tons and tons and tons of anime, picking out a few isn't that easy sadly...
But I'd have to say my top 5 favourite franchises in no distinct order are:
Minami-ke (Okawari and Okairi too)
Shakugan No Shana (second and third eventually, and OVA's sans Shana-Tan)
Dothack (in general)
Ghost in the Shell (in general)
and Detective Conan
Runner up would probably be Ranma 1/2, but the manga is better IMO.
If not Ranma, probably "Angels Egg".
Okay i Just finished watching what they have out of Naruto and I love it. I love Sauske I can't help it. I like bad boys.
Anywho i like how this thred is like still going after all this time!! ^_^
Well, I've seen a ton of anime and it is so hard to choose! I'd have to say my favorites are Death Note, Bleach, Inuyasha (And The Final Act), Outlaw Star, Minami-ke, Loveless. I watch a lot of anime and there is always more to watch.
I haven't actually watched much anime, I usually read the manga which then makes the anime seem so much worse in comparison (eg. Fruits Basket) or I just haven't bothered, I've got the books. ;D
I have to agree with everyone who mentioned Death Note, it's amazing. I also go through phases of loving or just being confused by BoBoBo-Bo Bo-BoBo. Ouran High School Host Club's pretty damn funny too. Digimon series 1 and 3 were also amazing (but series 4 can burn in the fires of hell)...
HOWEVER! I digress.
If I had to choose ONE, it would definitely be Shaman King (english dub version, I'm afraid. I have anime purist friends who would kill me for admitting that :)). That was the main one I came home to throughout my teenage years, and I can practically recite PASSAGES from it, I've watched it so much.

Any of the Movies by Hayao Miyazaki.
Noir
Excel Saga
Wolf's Rain
Trigun
Inuyasha
Ghost in The Shell
Sailor Moon <3
Ergo Proxy
Rahxephon
Outlaw Star
Onegai Teacher
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Last Exile
Berserk
Any .Hack
Kimagure Orange Road
Ranma 1/2
Saikano
Betterman
theres just too much to name! i love anime in general but these are my top.. XD
I don't watch as much anime as I used to. Some favorites are Elfien Lied, Paranoia Agent, and Samurai Champloo.
DEATH NOTE デスノート!!! Sorry, got a little excited when I saw the thread. :D Also, second favorite is Vampire Knight.
Happy to see all the anime fans we have here! ;D
I'd list the other animes I like, but I don't want to be here for a 1/2 hour thinking about it...

You have to admit, some of the 4kids dubs were really butchered. Usually dubs aren't too bad, just some cut out parts and american idioms added in (why?) but these people. . . they have no remorse.
I always loved Hana Kimi
Hanazakari no Kimitachi
Death Note was good too, but I never finished it

I totally agree with you, man. It's just this one, for some reason, despite the many many bits they cut out (and because Shaman King revolved a lot around religion, fighting and death, with one of the main characters addicted to morphine, it was bludgeoned worse than most) and the horrible, horrible voice acting (many unneccessary terrible accents etc.), I have a great affection for its dub. A lot of the things they changed were just stupid of course, eg. the character name Horohoro Usui --> TREY RACER! What the...? Also, he was from 'the North' instead of them explaining he was an Ainu from northern Japan... I could go on...
In general, though, I think dubs are pretty bad. The American voices often don't really seem to fit the characters (as with the Fruits Basket dub, I just can't see Tohru as American) and there's less attention to detail, in my opinion.
Death note would be my absolute favorite. Followed by Naruto and Bleach (I'm really behind on those 2 though)
NOOOO DUBS though! Ugh.
1. Es' otherwise
2. Saiyuki ;D Lol I just like Sanzo beating people with his fan.
3.Orphen
4.Wolf's Rain
5. Gantz
6. Full Metal Panic first and second season third season feels like a bust to me.
I don't bother with too many series, but movies:
Anything produced by Studio Ghibli
Anything directed by Satoshi Kon (Tokyo Godfathers especially)
The Girl That Leapt Through Time
Mind Game
5 Centimeters Per Second
you get the idea
The only series I've watched in full is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzimaya. It was pretty fun.
Oooh great topic! Elfen Lied (as the original poster stated) is possibly one of my favorites.
But as for my absolute favorite, I'm going to have to say Yuyu Hakusho. Great story, GREAT characters, I really felt connected to the characters.
Recently I have enjoyed "Gals" or "Super Gals", it was sooo cute.
Right now I am watching Maison Ikkoku, it seems pretty cute.
Wow, that's tough, there's too many I liked, but I suppose only one really makes me want to watch it multiple times, and that's Gravitation.
Gotta chime in about Gurren Lagann, I highly recommend that everyone watches this anime. It is fabulous.
From my avatar i'm guessing its obvious I love Black Lagoon. I also gotta go with Ranma, Full Metal (all of 'em), and Death Note.
...I'm not weird.
Slayers, Death Note, Evangelion, Peach Girl, Sailor Moon, His and Her Circumstances, Escaflowne, Ouran Highschool Host Club, Melancholy of Huruhi Suzumiya, Magic Knight Rayearth and Trigun are among my favourites.
Also... any movie by Hayao Miyazaki. ^_^
I love all sorts of anime...WAY Too many to list actually.
My favorite has to be Mushishi... :D It's so well done and damned beautiful.

Here are two series you all should try and watch.
Just an update....
I'm "up to date" on Bleach now, and I like the series so far.
Still watching FMA Brotherhood.
Trying to read the manga for Elfen Lied but can't seem to find the time lately =/
IF I had to choose one, it would be...
Robotech
(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.fanpop.com%2Fimages%2Fimage_uploads%2Frobotech-robotech-244343_410_285.jpg&hash=c0173796558ff7c370926e427a831bd1313f749d)
Im gunna go ahead and say "Ergo Proxy" has to be quite possibly my favourite.
Totally cos-playing as Ergo Proxy to Armageddon expo this year :D
Bah, such a tough choice.
All time favorite is probably Cowboy Bebop, followed closely by Gurren Lagann, Busou Renkin, My-HiME and Scrapped Princess. I watch far too many anime. It's always hard for me to chose my favorites because I haven't seen many bad anime.
-is a huge dork-
Anime = too much of my life
It isn't possible to name an absolute favorite. After all, Anime is a diverse thing.
I love my yuri series the most, Strawberry Panic, Aoi Hana, Sasameki Koto, Blue Drop (not really yuri), etc
I think the philosophical war series such as Legends of Galactic Heros, or anything Gundam are pretty good.
When I am in the mood for something violent, Elfen Lied and Hellsing do the trick.
I also enjoy some of the more teenage ones, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, Initial D 4th Stage, Code Geass, etc are pretty good.
Between Manga and Anime, I spend far too much time on my pc.
I'm not too well-versed in Anime, but I've seen some. Of those, my favorites are .hack//sign, Robotech, Gundam Wing, and Ranma 1/2.
I had forgotten how much I loved Ranma, but I started watching from the beginning on youtube last month and it's amazing the nostalgia I'm getting :D

I never got to see the end of Strawberry Panic. D= I should look it up some time.
I like Elfen Lied, a lot of blood, nudity and taboo subjects but I think the story is deep and beautiful -- But it's not for sensitive people.
Ghost in the Shell is a good one but it's hard to understand at times
My favorite anime would have to be Welcome to the NHK haha, it has fantastic dubs on youtube too
I love wolf's rain as well but it has a sad ending :'( (oops, spoiler alert!)
I have to say, I'm surprised how many anime fans/otakus :icon_lemon: we have here! Pretty cool.
Man...I remember those anime days...haha I don't watch anime any more, just keep up with a few mangas.
But...the ones I can think for as far as anime goes...
-Serial Experimental: Lain
-GunGrave
-Cowboy Bebop
-Haibne Ramei
-Tokyo Majin
Bleh and that's it.
I really enjoy Ghost in the Shell and Ergo Proxy. Also Full Metal Alchemist is just epic.
At heart, though, I am a Narutard through and through XD Kakashi is basically the most awesome character in anything ever.
Hmm ...
The movies I keep popping in the DVD player are:
- Spirited Away
- Howl's Flying Castle
Something about those two movies enchant me everytime I watch them. I liked Ponyo alot too, but it didn't do the same for me as the two movies above.
As far as TV shows, I've been watching a lot of Naruto: Shippuden lately. When Naruto first came out, it bugged the heck outta me, but it evolved into a really entertaining show with an interested backstory.
My biggest problem with Anime TV Shows is they get these great characters and storylines going and suddenly they end the series and have to compress the conclusion of the storylines into 2 episodes. A couple examples of that would be Ergo Proxy, Evangelion, Witch Hunter Robin, etc.
I still enjoy them though. ;D
If I really had to choose, I'd choose:
Sukisyo (Sukisho) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukisho (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukisho)
I love it, I love it, I love it! I cried the last 3 or 4 episodes for almost the whole episode, but I love it! The characters are really well done and it's so sweet and so sad and just the greatest thing ever! I'm going to buy it as soon as I can because it's my *secret* anime addiction. Greatest shonen-ai/yaoi anime I have ever had the pleasure of watching.
My second favorite would have to be Death Note. I caught the last 4 episodes of Death Note and the beginning 4 and I've been hooked so I'm watching it despite knowing what's going to happen.

This makes you
awesome. Ergo Proxy is a stunning character, and totally turned me on to the idea of masks.
I loved the feel of
Ergo Proxy, but my favourites are
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and
Cowboy Bebop, with
Paranoia Agent earning a worthy mention.
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence is, in fact, my joint-favourite film of all time, along with
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. I confess that I do have odd tastes.
Akira was the first I ever saw, Evangelion, Code Gaess was good, Love hina, there must be hundreds of others, used to watch them all online, I think the site is still around, not sure

That's true. Avatar is American created, in the style of anime. Each bending style is based off of an Asian martial art, and the show includes traditions and language of Asian cultures, mostly China and Japan. I love that show, too!

I wouldn't consider it anime.
Then most of what I watch you probably wouldn't consider anime. (I don't like the traditional Japanese style, as I find it full of cliche and annoying characters)
Death Note, Kuro->-bleeped-<-sugi, Ouran Host Club, and Junjo Romantica. And many many more.
I finally finished watching death note last week and I must say for a series with so much praise and hype I was expecting a better ending. The first few eppys are awesome then it slows down and then starts to build up to something epic and then.....awwwwwwwww....lame... oh well.
I'm currently watching elfen lied which is tough going as I'm not big on violence etc. But It's a short series so I'll stick it out ...for the story/plot.
Still my current fav is macross frontier, awesome songs (space opera alert!), awesome mecha scenes and just well awesome story with a beautiful ending... so many tears!
Favourite cute factor = manabi straight!

Yup. I'm adding it to my list! Thanks for mentioning it!
My favorite anime of all time: Sailor Moon....BUT Serena didn't deserve to be the Moon Princess in my opinion. It should have been both Uranus and Neptune or Sailor Mercury
Runner Up Animes:
Cowboy Bebop
Yugioh
Lupin the Third
DBZ
Case Closed
Favorite anime? That's a long list, but I'll try to cut it down.
Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Chi's Sweet Home/Chi's New Address, Code Geass, Darker Than Black, Cromartie High School, FLCL, Kuro->-bleeped-<-suji (it's a TERRIBLE show driven purely by fujoshi FANSERVICE, but, uhhhhhg, Sebastian, I can't help myself), Shiki, Wolf's Rain, Paranoia Agent, Samurai Champloo....stopping.....

Yohohoho....
Now it's just a quartet.... trio.... duet... solo... :'(
Great
Teacher
Onizuka
....and that's about the only anime i like/know well ^-^
My top two favourite anime/manga are Hellsing because it is awesome and Baccano! also because it is awesome.
I also like Death Note for the artwork, because it's interesting, and the fact that it has a villain protagonist. I like Bleach for the many favourite characters I have, some of the fights, and the hot people. I like Durarara!! because I like the concept and a few of the characters, but I haven't read the books yet. I like Soul Eater for the music, a few of the characters, the meister/weapon, and the halloweeny style, but some things annoy me.
Ouran High School Host Club and Bus Gamer to bad bus gamer was so short...
Edit: There sould be a thread for Favorite Manga of all time. :O
Shoot I have like this weird tie thing between several
Devil May Cry was great but would have been better if they continued the story.
Trigun was awsome but sort of had a sucky ending.
Trinity Blood felt like the rushed it at the end.
D.Gray-Man they didn't even bother finishing.
and Hellsing should have had another season.
So yeah...its a 5 way tie for my fav ^.^
I would have to say, my favorite anime was/is/will always be Dragonball Z.

It's over 9000!
WHAT 9000? THAT'S CAN'T BE RIGHT!
Stuff I've liked over the years:
1. SDF Macross (not the robotech adaptation!) - the animation has aged, but the whole Macross formula is gets established in this series (valkyrie fighter, idol singers, love triangle = macross)
2. Tetsuwan atomu (Astroboy)
3. Gatchaman - (Aka Battle of the Planets) - I always wanted to be Jun/Princess - it's aged terribly over the years as well.
4. Ranma Nibbunoichi (we really should poll how many trans people love this one *lol*)
5. Neon Genesis Evangelion (the super post modernist anime!)
6. Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon (not the DIC adaptation either!) - Malachite, the whole point about Sailor Moon is Usagi's pure heart overcoming all :P

O.O Oh. My. Alucard. YES! Go watch it now. There are nine out so far, but they're covering the whole manga. Have you read the manga? The OVA follows it whereas the tv anime only gets to the fight with Jan and Luke Valentine and then deviates drastically.

Oh my then yes i shall ^^
My top 4 Would be:
Bleach
Trigun
Ranma 1/2
Girl meets Girl
(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwebpages.marshall.edu%2F%7Ehandley9%2F20061208-hellsing2.jpg&hash=d6a2f18c07205b46749ef3d2f53d3f1d34e20fab)
It will always be my favourite! ;D
I love Hellsing, but only the OVA and manga. Sorry I say this frequently.
Hellsing OVA Trailer--Broken English (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY6jDceaBZo#)
Really? Interesting. :) Most people I talk to prefer the first series over the OVA. I understand the love of the manga though, I'm not a huge anime/manga person, but I love reading Hellsing, too. :)
Really? Aug. The tv series deviates so much, it doesn't even have Millennium or Pip and the Wild Geese not to mention all the awesomeness of the manga. I have no idea why anyone would prefer that.
Omg I can't pick just one!
I can narrow it down to 3 though. :-P
1. Gundam Wing
2. FMA: Brotherhood
3. .Hack/sign
My favorite hands down has to be yu yu hakusho
I'm going to have to go with :
Nobody's Boy: Remi (the melodrama is so over the top it's awesome)
So Ra No Wo To (I loved this one so much)
Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z Hen (we got cheated out of the Grand Mazinger sequel I tell you!)
I don't care for what the haters say, but I absolutely loved Inuyasha.
Hellsing
Inuyasha (yes monica it is awesome, never be ashamed :D)
Full Metal Alchemist brotherhood
Trigun
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
Those are the ones I tend to actually sit through and not fall asleep.
Personally, I adore Durarara!
No.6 comes in close second though (that anime made me cry)
Azumanga Daioh is my very favourite anime. I love it soooo much!
A close runner-up is Revolutionary Girl Utena.
Necro-post...
Inuyasha
Battle of the Planets (Gatchaman)
Cowboy Bebop
Dragonball GT
Yu Yu Hakusho
Big O
Escaflowne
Gundam
Rurouni Kenshin
Spice and Wolf
Neon Genesis Evangelion.
dragon ball and naruto :)
Another Anime is my favourite of all time, I love horror anime series. Highschool of the Dead is also pretty good.
my favorite is a tie between one piece and inuyasha ^^
I have to say Ranma 1/2 or Slayers. It is close tie between these two. I love that humor and characters. Also animation style is really good. I think that phrase "They don't make them like they used to." Just about sums it up.
Welcome to the NHK
Ghost in the Shell
Depending on how they handle the rest of the series, Shingeki no Kyojin is certainly earning a spot at the top of my list. If you like anime and aren't watching this show, you are missing out in a major way. It is called Attack on Titan in English, and you can watch it (legally, they licensed it) on Crunchyroll for free a week after it airs in Japan.
Usually Serial Experiments Lain gets the title of 'favourite anime' from me, although I haven't actually seen it in years. Other honourable mentions include Higurashi no naku koro ni and Bokurano, the latter of which has to be the bleakest anime I've ever seen other than Grave of the Fireflies (which is precisely why I loved it).
Got a few on my list, though FMA:Brotherhood definitely takes the top spot. Otherwise, I loved Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, and Wolf's Rain (my first) and if Ghibli movies count, Spirited Away and Princess Monoke are my favorites of his.
I used to be into Bleach and One Piece before I just burned out on the excruciating length of them.
Ahh, I can't pick just one<3
Bleach, DBZ, DBGT, 11Eyes, Chaos;Head, Guilty Crown, Inuyasha, Rozen Maiden, Attack on Titan, Claymore, Hellsing Ultimate, Soul Eater, D. Gray Man, Naruto, Naruto Shippuuden, Lucky Star, One Piece, Rurouni Kenshin, YuYu Hakusho.
NANA
Toradora!
Aoi Hana
Paradise Kiss
Nichijou

Yeah, Studio Ghibli movies are great! I also love Satoshi Kon's stuff. Tokyo Godfathers is a great movie.
If I had to choose just one it would be Ghost in the Shell (movies, anime, manga)
Its pretty common for me to spend entire days watching GITS and wishing I could hang out with Masamune Shirow
I'd have to say a tie between Clannad and all official canonical things clanand, and all things Higurashi No Naku Koroni related and official and canonical.(Higurashi, Umineko and so on)
Clannad has a deep history with me, and Higurashi and Umineko have continually kept me guessing in a very positive manner.

Clannad was amazing. I probably should have added it to my list.
They did such a good job of mixing fun, silly moments with deeply emotional, heartbreaking moments. Truly one of the best anime ever made imo.

Oh gosh yes! They did an excellent job with it!
I loved it sooo much....I tried to see it for 7 years, and it was worth it, every second of it! and I saw it like....6 times in the next year and shared it soooo much!
It's a tie between Dragon Ball Z and Inuyasha. I don't watch Anime much anymore though.
Ive watched a lot of awesome anime
but my favourite one has to be black rock shooter
Since you chose 2 i will.
Baka and test.
Soul eater.
Sekerei
Kenichi the mightiest desciple
And Claymore
lol I can't pick just 1.. :p
Death Note - Best thriller/action series I've ever seen... Not a big fan of Neir but hey beggers can't be choosers.
Elfen Lied - The most twisted and shocking ending I could've imagined... I cried like a little girl.
Serial Experiments Lain: Just a really cool sci-fi-ish series, I love the story development.
There are of course more that I really enjoy... but those are my favorites.
Easily Serial Experiments: Lain for all time.
Current: Black Butler, RWBY

I know this is a month old, but nevertheless... :)
Outlaw star, tenchi muyo, sailor moon
Clannad, bleach, fairy tale, deathnote, black butler and gurren lagann
Ghost in the Shell and Macross Plus/ Frontier and Ranma 1/2
I got my hair cut like Major Kusanagi from GITS
Dragonball Z
Favorite anime of all time: Yu-Gi-Oh!, of course! It's like, the centerpiece of my entire childhood! I also still play the card game weekly in tournaments; whenever I feel like playing it instead of Magic: The Gathering, anyway. I have the entire series on my laptop. Favorite manga and anime, though, besides YGO, would be Death Note. I personally prefer reading the manga than watching anime, actually. More engaging reading backwards.
Are we including American animation? I prefer American animation. If so, then Batman The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, X-Men TAS, Spiderman TAS, Hulk TAS, Superman TAS, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon.
If we're strictly doing Japanese animation, then I'd go Dragon Ball Z.
for movie I'd go Akira.

I loved Yu-Gi-Oh! as a kid... Pokémon too for that matter.
It's extremely hard to pick just one.
I'll just provide a small list.
BLEACH
Gurren Lagann
Ranma 1/2
Digimon (S1 and S2)
Voltron
Azumanga Daioh
Nana
Second place Mirai Nikki, death note, dragon ball z, and code geass
I like The Idolm@ster and Bakemonogatari
As usually I'm late to the party butttt I shall participate nonetheless! Haha I really can't pick. Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, Samurai X D: oh man.. In my lifetime so far the one that stands out the most was my first that I actually fell in love is G Gundam so yup ha
My favourite anime is Fushigiboshi no Futagohime.
It's the most adorable and happy and wonderful anime ever. I love Magical Girl anime and it's my favourite ever! More people should watch it.
Princess Fine and Princess Rein are such wonderful people, and they're so much fun. And watching the show just makes me so happy.
If you love Magical Girl anime like Sailor Moon, or cute anime like K-On!, you should watch Fushigiboshi no Futagohime!
I don't know if i mentioned but a few months ago i picked up Death Note and it was the most amazing things i ever watched, though i hated the ending...i loved the whole anime, it's my favorite now and hoping to watch more anime like death note...any suggestions would be great :).
Has anyone else mentioned Avatar: The Legend of Aang? The original series was fantastic, such a shame the film made such a hatchet job of it.

I just need the YF-19 and my veritech fighter collection from Macross Plus will be complete.
Series: Galaxy Express 999. I used to watch it on a UHF Japanese station without subtitles and had no idea what was going on, but it still held my interest.
Movie series: Project A-ko. Loved that she turned out to be Superman's daughter at the end of the first movie. I wish they would put it out on DVD.
More people to give Nabari some love.
Nausicaa is certainly my favorite to look at. That forest in the beginning blew me away. I'm a 3d animator and it's laaaaame how barren a lot of landscapes in 3d movies look.
I'll say it again, just cause I want to... Batman The Animated Series.
Is American animation not considered anime? Even when it has the quality of a show like 90's Batman, Batman Beyond, X-Men, Hulk, Gargoyles or Spidey?
I was almost too young for these shows, so I'm assuming a few of you missed the boat by a couple years. If so, then do yourself a favor and grab Batman The Animated Series or X-Men on DVD. Those shows were special. Well written and with a serious tone, beautifully animated, top tier voice acting, and a continuous storyline. I think BTAS was ranked by IGN as the 2nd best animated show of all time, behind The Simpsons, and I'm pretty sure X-Men was just out of the top ten.
Also can't forget my first love, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - and not this new stuff - I'm talking original.
all of them
My faves :P
- Hellsing Ultimate
- Stein;s Gate
- Baccano
- and Full-metal Alchemist brotherhood :D

They did actually make though an anime- Powerpuff Girls Z only for japan,
sadly they never made a English sub or dub.Edit: turns out they did make one
The Full Metal Panic Series has always been my favorite. Although The Second Raid isn't completely great.
easy peasy pumpkin peasy - ONE PIECE!
both my favourite anime and favourite manga - it never ceases to amaze me - i've shed so many hardboiled tears over that show, especially over the last chapter!
i also really like soul eater, durarara!!, samurai champloo, baccano!, panty & stocking with garterbelt, dead leaves (movie, hope that counts) - i've watched death note, still trying to get myself to watch FMA again, and i'm currently watching jojo's bizarre adventures
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost In The Shell
FLCL
Witch Hunter Robin
Simoun
My Otome (I'm guilty but not ashamed)
Well I might have forgot some, as my anime period was a long time ago. I still watch some from time to time, but I'm mostly reading manga now. (a ton of them)
My favourite anime is definitely Trigun, followed closely behind by Cowboy Bebop, then Neon Genesis Evangelion, Hellsing Ultimate and FMAB ^_^

First place for me is a tie between 'The Tales of the Princess Kaguya' and 'Princess Mononoke'
Gotta love Studio Ghibli.
If the question was about manga, my favorites are Loveless and Angel Sanctuary.
Special mention goes to Fullmetal Alchemist, FLCL, and Samurai Champloo.
I obviously have a hard time settling on one favorite thing.
the lesser common yet still awesome (have you seen those fight scenes!?!?) Samurai Champloo
Elfen Lied is the one, that lead me back to watching Animes, so I'll go with it.
I'm gonna go with Neon Genesis Evangelion with an aching heart (because I'm betraying Revolutionary Girl Utena) because it has a canon gay couple (fight me) and the story line has got to be the deepest and most intense, which also really goes deep on mental health.
Utena goes a bit behind, because I really wished Ikuhara pushed further with Utena's gender as it's still interpreted as ambigious on a good day and is swallowed by people claiming Utena's cis when I doubt so and the anime is about Utena's gender, Utena seems to be fluid to me and kind of seeing and growing up with people erasing her identity kind of spoils it a bit for me.

I love the Angel Sanctuary manga, I'm considering getting a tattoo.
I got throw out there some classics,
Rurouni Kenshin
Yu Yu Hakusho
G Gundam
Moderns- Howls Moving Castle will always touch me.
I have seen over a hundred different animes. But these are the ones that I have seen like over 10 different times. Though I'm mostly into the romance and drama stuff.
Serial Experiments Lain
Yu Yu Hakusho
Hikaru no Go
Boys over Flowers
Tenshi na Konamaiki
Strawberry Panic
Skip Beat Nana
I say FMA is one I enjoy. Dunno about favorite though. That's hard. Rurouni Kenshin and Inuyasha are pretty dear to me.
Started following Overlord. (http://gogoanime.tv/overlord-episode-1).
VR game server goes offline but game goes real life??? Quite fun but only 9episodes at the moment, expect corny animestuff but its notsobad:3
Aldnoah.Zero. (http://www.crunchyroll.com/aldnoahzero)
Going to enjoy this today
Sci Fi
I used to love anime. I haven't watched it in so long, but let me see...
Puella Magi Madoka Magica is probably at the very top of my list, followed by Fate/Zero, then Fate/Stay Night, and then maybe Steins;Gate? I've always really enjoyed the philosophical and intellectual focus of Ghost in the Shell too, and Psycho Pass on the same note.
Tokyo Ghoul is the last one I watched and really enjoyed, so that's on the list somewhere too.
Bleach, Deadman Wonderland, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
Watamote, Sword Art Online 1 and 2, Fairy Tail, A Channel, Overlord, Noir, Strawberry Panic, Ghost in the Shell, K-On, CLANNAD,
Anything by Hayao Miyazaki. I love Porco Rosso - I wish there were sequels.
Also, isnt it interesting that so many anime and manga characters have somewhat ambiguous sexuality? Maybe thats why I am so attracted to the genre.

How did I not notice this thread before? I'd hate to leave it at only one, since there are so many anime out there that I've loved watching over the years, so here is a list of my favorites, in no particular order:
-Ranma 1/2 (That one kind of goes without saying doesn't it?)
-Night On The Galactic Railroad (Watching this movie is an experience in and of itself.)
-FLCL (Because I love the pillows. ;))
-Death Note (Once you start watching this show, you pretty much have to keep watching until it's over, with the occasional breaks to eat and sleep.)
-Mushishi (Just an incredibly beautiful show. It's kind of sad it isn't more popular.)
-Spirited Away (My all time favorite Studio Ghibli film.)
-The Twelve Kingdoms (So amazingly good, but it leaves you with many unanswered questions. I still haven't read the original light novels that continue past where the anime ends.)
-Trigun (Vash is one of the only male characters I ever strongly identified with, because he's always try to do the right thing, but ends up with everyone hating him just for who he is.)
-Azumanga Daioh (You laugh the entire time you watch this show, but then you cry when it ends. :()
-Neon Genesis Evangelion (I have no idea what I just watched. 0_0)
-Excel Saga (I still have no idea what I just watched. 0_0)
-Kino's Journey: The Beautiful World (Another incredible anime that is criminally under-appreciated. It has some sort of transgender themes too, which maybe the guys here could relate to?)
-Fullmetal Alchemist (It was really fun watching this with my brother.)
Hands down COWBOY BEBOP!
My favorite of all time, I would have to start out what got me into Anime,
Vampire hunter D
Heavy Metal
Ronin Warriors
Dragon Ball Z
Initial D
Wangan Midnight
Cowboy Bebop
Gundam Wing Zero
My all-time favourite (as if my username and avatar weren't a giveaway) is Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman aka Battle of the Planets. I spent 2 whole days back in 2006 scouring San Diego for all of the Gatchaman box sets.
Others include Patlabor, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Oh my Goddess, Tenchi Muyo.
Not strictly animé as it's puppets rather than animation but I loved Star Fleet aka X-Bomber growing up.
Fate-Stay Night Unlimited Bladeworks
Fate-Stay Night Original (Fate)
Attack on Titan
Bleach
Dragon Ball Z
Sailor Moon (yes its girly, but I don't care and love it any way)
Death Note (so, so, so awesome! just finished watching it last week on Netflix and the ending blew me away!^^)
Claymore
Cowboy Bebop
Boondocks (not sure if this counts, but it looks like anime, so hilarious!^^)
The Devil Is A Part-Timer (so funny)
There's lots more I could add here but I could write a book on it, literally. :D
Does Spirited Away and Legend of Korra count? If so, those would be my picks; those are all I ever watched.
Spirited Away definitely counts. I love that film. :)

Oh, that one is a definite favorite! ;D
You can tell by my username that my all-time favorite is Digimon Tamers. I enjoy the dub because it brings back so much nostalgia and I think the dub voices suit the characters. Not to mention, the actors actually did a pretty good job (and Steve Blum is just an awesome voice actor to begin with). So far it's the only dub I've enjoyed over the original.
I recently got my fiance hooked on Attack On Titan and we're looking forward to season two. I'm gonna look up the manga online so I can get caught up on what happens.
Some other ones I really enjoyed are the Naruto series, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, and Ranma 1/2 (I watched it back in 2009, six years before I came to terms with my trans identity).
There are so many good anime series out there I still haven't seen yet though.
Akira
Ghost in the Shell
Wolf Children
Mononoke Hime
Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust
Spirited Away
Grave of the Fireflies
Tokyo Godfathers
Redline
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Jin-Roh
Berserk
Perfect Blue
Hellsing
The Wings of Honneamise
Ninja Scroll
Parasyte
Appleseed
Neat lists! My own favorites:
Ghost in the Shell (Original movie, and the two broadcast series)
Akira
Paprika (very trippy!)
Grave of the Fireflies
My son and I had some great discussions around the content and underpinnings of Neon Genesis Evangelion back when it aired on a PBS station late at night.

I don't know if I could narrow it down to just one, how about a top 10?
Trigun
Ranma 1/2
Gungrave
Dragon Ball
GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka
Sailor Moon
Ghost in the shell
Hellsing
Witch Hunter Robin
Cowboy Bebop
My two top ones would be:
Code Geass
And
Saiunkoku monogatari - this one has such pretty male characters (bishonen) and a very strong, confident and educated female lead

I know I'm one of the only people who will ever say this, but my favorite anime of all time is Macross 7. It taught me just how wonderful & powerful music & singing can be.
I'm generally a fan of all robot anime, but I heavily lean towards the 'super' variety (Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, GaoGaiGar, etc..). I love the over-the-top super drama of it all!
But I like a lot of other shows, too! Particularly ones heavy on the sci-fi and/or fantasy (though not too dark in theme - don't care for Titan or Berserk). I really enjoyed Log Horizon.
I love all the Ghibli movies, too! Nausicaa is my favorite.
Back in the 90s I watched anything & everything I could get my hands on!
Some of my top favorite shows:
Macross 7
Macross (original + Do You Remember Love)
Shin Mazinger
Shin Getter Robo
GaoGaiGar
G Gundam
Giant Robo
Gunbuster
Star Driver
Saint Seiya
Guyver (which reminds me, I haven't been keeping up with the newest manga releases!)
Hi, sorry to post in an old thread, but I just have to add Haibane Renmei onto the list 'cause I love it soooo much, and it's the only anime that has fully made me cry (though a lot came close!)
Aside from that, it's hard to pick favorites because it feels like it's an always-changing list. Right now i'd say it's
Haibane Renmei
Madoka Magica (Homura did nothing wrong!)
One Piece
Revolutionary Girl Utena
Pretty Cure AKA Glitter Force (especially season 7, 'Heartcatch Precure')
Detective Conan AKA Case Closed
Flip Flappers
Samurai Flamenco
Space Dandy
Paranoia Agent
Paprika
Simoun
Kemono Friends
Honorable mention to Steven Universe, which isn't on the list because it isn't anime. But it might as well be, if you ask me.
Hmm, making this list made me feel like re-watching a few of them.
Favorite movie: Grave of the Fireflies
Favorite series: Chihayafuru
They have completely different feels (overly depressing vs mostly happy), but I can't ever settle on one emotion as a form of entertainment.
Are there two anime threads, because I could have sworn I posted in one?
Regardless, I will never pass up an opportunity to say much I love One Piece. ;D
Honorable mentions: Ranma 1/2 (duh), Hunter x Hunter, Monster.
Naruto...
I love everything to do with it...... so amazing, i still have like 6 seasons left of Shippuden but as i have been watching Naruto as a whole for years i am in no rush to finish it

But... but... but... they're so bad. ;D (Though I admit, I watch one piece filler just to draw it out as much as possible.)
I didnt really like One Piece
and Its an OCD so i cant skip them LOL but except for when the art is really horrible in Naruto i dont actually mind watching the fillers, ive seen all of part 1 and up to s15 of Shippuden

Just curious, how far did you get into OP? Almost everyone has trouble making it through the first 25 or so episodes, then a certain scene grabs them, the series slows down again, then just takes off running, and by the time people get to episode 250 they wonder how they ever lived without it. ;D It's definitely a really slow build at the start, and not even just by modern standards. And while I thought it was definitely charming and fun initially, it was nothing compared to what it would become. The early episodes to the later episodes is like watching Spongebob morph into Game of Thrones. :P (Oh, also, it's one series that dub is 100% completely not an option. It just doesn't translate well in terms of dialogue and voices at all. Even people who like the dub for whatever reason watch the original and are shocked at how much of a difference it makes. I mean, I'm anti-dub in general, but this is an extreme case. :P)
Unfortunately, it's hard to pick up now because it is so monstrously long and the first part of the series doesn't have that instant grab. While Naruto wasn't exactly starting with a bang compared to later stuff, it still managed to at least setup most of the cast by episode 30. One Piece... not so much. :D Most comparable to HxH in the ramp up from innocent beginnings to pure insanity, but even it has the series going full force a million times faster than OP.
Sorry, ranted there for a moment, I'm a total One Piece fangirl. :D

I guess i got up to about episode 20 or soo? and one of the things you said about the dub of One Piece i did find it a little off putting as i am a 100% dubs girl, i find subs too distracting and yeah i know im missing out on some series but its the principal of the thing, every anime ive ever seen has been in dub form, occaisonally while Shippuden was still going strong, i would skip ahead to where the sub version was, it just felt wrong to me LOL having only experienced Naruto in dub form, and we'll dubs in general
Another thing is, I was hooked on Naruto by the first episode, i felt i could somewhat relate to Naruto abit, with his isolation i guess, i remember watching it the first and not only looking at that but like how cool is this, it has Ninjas (i mean c'mon Ninja's > Pirates :p) it has magic and other things and i just loved the villains more on Naruto, thats the thing with One Piece, it felt too case of the week sort of thing for me, i preferred the more serialized nature of Naruto,
IM OK with a slow build up, i did suffer through Luke Cage LOL, but One Piece yeah it failed to grab my attention, i do remember sort of crushing on Roronora Zoro tho a little bit
Spongebob into Game of Thrones LOL

I've tried to go back and watch some old animated series........bad plan!
He-man/She-Ra were horrible. Transformers was okay, but the linguistic choices, ugh. G.I joe, OMG laughably bad. I know I liked them in the 80's, but they did not age well. At least the Flintstones and Jetsons are still funny.

Sadly, I have to agree. Voltron was HORRIBLE. Actually, Go Lion, the original Japanese version of it (the lion portion, anyway) was pretty bad on it's own. Dairugger XV (the show vehicle Voltron came from) was actually really good, though. Yeah, He-man & She-Ra were really bad. I do still like Transformers, though....
I also recently re-watched Thundarr the Barbarian, and it was actually pretty good! :D

Where did you find Thundarr the Barbarian? I remember watching it, but haven't found it on any of the channels I get or on Netflix.
I, also, still like Transformers; just some of the word choices, and acting, was...not so good. Much like how I mince words.
The new Voltron is pretty good, and a show called Troll Hunter. Both are on Netflix. I tried a few other, but those two I like the best, of what's available.
I also rather enjoy Sword Art Online. I'm hoping there is a season three.

Got the DVD set on Amazon for like, $7 or something. I need to pick up the Pirates of Dark Water set eventually.
I love the new Voltron, except for the music- not exciting enough for an action show (often while watching it I long for the original Voltron theme). Still haven't watched Troll Hunter, I added it to my list because it's made by Guillermo del Toro. I also loved the Thundercats remake, and am still mad it got cancelled. Such a good story, and we'll never know where it was going to go.

Pirates of Dark Water was awesome. That series was ahead of its time being a western series with heavy anime story arc aspirations, which while pretty stock and trade now was a sure rarity then. (And the other more story centric animated series in the 90s tended to be existing franchises like with the start of the DCAU, so an original IP stood out to me. Sort of an early Avatar.)
You know what I always thought was surprisingly good? The Johnny Quest remake in the 90s. One of the earlier "remakes" I can think of (I guess technically it was a sequel).

I'd forgotten about Pirates of Dark Water. I remember liking that show as well. I'm in the same boat with the Thundercats remake, but I think it died because it was such a huge deviation from the original that the fans killed it. Some times, nostalgia, can kill something that could be great because it wasn't the same.
Not an Anime, but does anyone remember Space Above and Beyond? Another series that had a great story, that was cancelled to soon.

Sounds familiar, but I can't recall anything of it. On that subject, another series that was really good yet cancelled was Tron: Uprising. Great writing and great voice work (Elijah Wood as the main character, with Bruce Boxleitner as Tron of course).
Back on the anime track, I just haven't watched much lately. Mainly because I haven't had any interest in most of the new series in the last few years. Thankfully I have a HUGE backlog of classics. Thanks to the DVD release last summer, I'll be watching Super Beast Machine God Dancougar (I love that full name!) again soon (as soon as I finish my run through Babylon 5). I'd seen it in the 90s when it got released on VHS, and I even imported the Japanese DVD sets since I never imagined anyone would pick up the license in the US again.

I used to watch the first few episodes of pretty much every series as they came out each season, now I don't have time to watch much of anything. And I agree, last few years in particular not much has caught my eye. Notable exceptions though for Seven Deadly Sins and Made in Abyss, which I just finished up the anime of (only covers half of current manga) and was absolutely fantastic. (And seriously, seriously screwed up. Like Berserk level screwed up, if not perhaps contextually more so because everything happens to children. Seemed to be last year's critical darling so gave it a shot.)

I remember watching the original Berserk series back in the 90s, and liked it at first, until it got...., well, royally screwed up. Speaking of seriously horrific things happening to children, I've been trying to work up the courage to watch Ideon (1980), aka Legendary Giant God Ideon aka Space Runaway Ideon. Made by "kill 'em all" Tomino (creator of Gundam, before he chilled out in the late 90s).
The last few series I actually really enjoyed were Log Horizon, Space Battleship Yamato 2199, Robotics;Notes, and Star Driver. Even the new Macross (Delta) was disappointing (but Kawamori's gotten weird in recent years). I watched quite a bit of Dragon Ball Super, but lost interest once the Future Trunks arc was done (actually, I lost interest before that - it's gotten too far away from what the DB manga was - an over-the-top parody).

I've never seen Ideon and don't really know much about it. Is it Berserk-esque grotesque or just one of those unbelievably tragic series?
I haven't been able to watch Macross since Macross Zero went off the rails with the fastest fall from grace I have ever witnessed. Absolutely brilliant first episode(which at the time was probably the most beautiful thing ever animated), that immediately devolved into the most generic anime pure nonsense I've ever seen in the second episode. I was obsessed with Robotech as a kid, so it saddened me greatly when I finally got a chance to watch a new Macross series as it was released that it went so wrong. (Sort of like the Star Wars prequels I guess.)
I sometimes wonder though if it's just me being nostalgic. I remember how much I loved series in the late 90s and early 2000s, and it's like... nothing in the past 10 years or so can really compare. All the masterpieces from Bones (what have they even been doing lately? I haven't heard about them in forever) alone... But yet a ton of people seem to watch all the newer stuff and love it just fine. Am I just getting old? :-X

Ideon's an incredibly tragic series. And it only gets worse at the end...
I actually liked Macross Frontier. There were a few things in it that I was like '...Huh?', but overall it was pretty good. The ending was beautifully animated, especially in the movie retelling (plus a brief cameo from a pilot from another Macross series).
Well, it's not that we're getting old, but that our tastes are formed by the shows of our time, and anime is one of those mediums that's always changing. Though it does go through some repeating phases, I can track the rise & decline & rise again of the giant robot genre, and I see it all comes around again.
Bones is still around. They made Star Driver, which I liked. They also did Space Dandy, which I enjoyed at first but quickly lost interest in, and My Hero Academia, which I've not watched but heard a lot of people enjoy.
oh yeah, i forgot about my hero academia. I didn't realize star driver was them, im so out of the loop. And talking about Bones I just remembered the terrible Eureka Seven sequel and got depressed. Maybe I'm not just old and the earlier stuff really is better. ;D

I still say it's the best sci-fi series ever put on TV. The CG was amazing at the time (and was the very first series to ever

I agree about Ivanova, I was really sad when she left after season 4. G'kar was always my favorite character - I love when a 'villain' becomes a hero. Plus Andreas Katsulas was an amazing actor! Kosh was awesome, too. Heck, everyone in that show was pretty cool, even ones you love to hate, like Bester (played by Walter Koenig for those who haven't seen it).

I've never heard of Blue Australians?
But yeah, Straczynski had the entire story planed out from the beginning (same guy who wrote / created Sense 8 along with the Wachowskis), and ended up writing every single episode (after season 1) himself.
"Blue Australians and Muppets in Space" is what I call Farscape. Because that's what it is. ;D Seriously, every alien is a shade of blue and they just sort of hang out with muppets (it was produced the Jim Henson company, so they 100% are muppets). And since it was filmed in Australia, most of the actors are Australian, particularly the extras. Hence, Blue Australians and Muppets in Space! :D

I never did finish Ergo Proxy, really loved it though. Was watching it when it first aired and there was something weird like a delay in the airing of the second half that made me not come back to it. I should go do that.

Yeah the show is awesome imo. You should totally finish it! :)
DBZ !
I know there's better anime out there, but my favorite has to be Code Geass (S1 & S2)
Anime have a terrible history of awful endings, and Code Geass have every potential to be awful and while alot is unanswered, unresolved, I felt like I could love that universe and still let go of it with how it ended. The show was so clever, devious, full of drama and comedy, I mean it has it all! (as long as you get past the art style)
I really identified with Lelouch, and I think that largely has to do with me being transgender. Hiding your true self or blind to it, putting on a facade for others. I just love anime that get all deep and philosophical and preachy when it works. And it certainly does for me with Code Geass. Fantastic Show!
Lemme double-down and like I was so similar to Lelouch. What I showed to everyone was an apparently intelligent, cold, calculated individual, but inside I just wanted to reach others and help them. No, I wasn't exiled and left for dead by my father, so his motivations certainly differed from mine- but we both sought the same happy ending. And we were both willing to crush friend or foe to achieve what we thought was best for the world. And both have encountered situations where we caused love ones to be hurt, and felt the need to pretend we didn't care; and both were faced with the realization that all we've hoped to accomplish could be invalidated because of the people we've ignored and the choices we've made.
In short, Lelouch and I were both terrible, misguided people who truly wanted the best for everyone. And were willing to sacrifice all in order to achieve it, including our own happiness.
I need to watch it again... that and some of the others posted in this thread(I never did finish Claymore >.<)
Song still gives me goosebumps when it starts:
