Title: This UPSETS me so much!!!
Post by: Inphyy on August 31, 2009, 12:15:53 AM
I was watching the news when a report about the LGBTQI community came up! At first I thought it was going to be positive...But it ended up being feed-back from different straight people and what they thought and believe about the LGBTQI community.

A few people said, "That they were cool with it"...One man ended up saying that he was a FtM! But this one person...A Mexican man---Got on my nerves...He said...

"I find any person who is not straight a freak! Many of those people commit suicide anyways! So I don't have to worry about them--But for me I believe White people end up being the only ones like that."

The freak part made me go crazy...The fact he was taunting the whole community made it worse. But the fact that he stereotyped that only and all LGBTQI people are White gets on my nerves and upsets me.

I have friends who are Black, Mexican and Asian who are also in the LGBTQI community! So they are sooo misinformed and it's sad that people don't do their full research or stereotype!!!

I agree, it's horrible and depressing. I can only look at LGBTIQ news sites if I'm not angsty or sad about anything, half the time it's all so depressing and angering. Yes, it is important to know what goes on, and some of the news and community feedback is happy and uplifting, but there always seems to be that negative element, too, unfortunately. :-\

what's the "Q" stand for now?

meh, being a freak beats being boring, at least we don't live in 1930's germany or current-day iran.

I wasn't aware of this so maybe someone can clarify, but when did the intersexed community at large start associating themselves with gays and lesbians?

I somehow don't think it was the idea of the intersex people... at least not the majority of them. But there is a sub-set of the intersex community who identify with it as androgynous rather than their assigned gender and thus associate with TG community. I think that rebel subset is on the right page, i like the human race to have a bit of varitey, too much conformity.

It is good that we are reminded that there are people out there who are less
than accepting of the LGBQ___IT community, it keeps it fresh in our minds not
to become complacent and start believing our own propaganda that everything
is fine in happyland. While there are great strides that have been made
toward acceptance and equality, there are still and probably always
will be people out here who hate us and there are those
who will do more than just voice their disdain.

They wouldn't let the FtM say anything, they said they wanted feed-back from biological males and females. If they let "her" talk then she would only talk about the good. They want pure opinions.

Q stands for Queer/Questioning!

weird... they want opinions exclusively from the ill-informed...

that has alwayse seemed to be the point of those vox-pops but i never thought they'd admit it so bluntly

And here I thought we had the Republican Party, Faux Noise, and the Southern Baptists for that action.

Take it from the "Queen of Presumed Offense", it may be considered
offensive to refer to a FTM brother as "she" and "her". Similar to
someone referring to you as "he" or "him". TIFWIW*

*Take It For What It's Worth

Note how I quoted "her", I'm not referring to him as a "her" but that's what they said, they said "her"...So I am going with what they said, since it's quoted...I thought people would understand that.

2F2, I did not read the article because
I assumed that it would infuriate me.

I reread the original post which I read almost twenty-four hours ago,
assuming that I had missed the link to an article which she was quoting.
There was no link. I retract my apology.

Q actually stands for questioning. It fits considering all queer people question themselves

Please elaborate.  :(

It doesn't really bother me much anymore if someone calls me a freak or a queer. So I'm a girl. Anyone got a problem with that? Talk to my dog.

Meow Meow; OMG run, Buddy is on my tail

On a more serious note about the thread. Some people are just unaccepting arseholes. Possibly a miss quote given the thread . If people cannot tolerate other people over the colour of their skin, their religous belief, their disease state. How do you expect them to understand, yet alone condone or even accept someone who has an apparent difference in sexuality. These are men and women who cannot accept "straight" men and woman. Men who think sexual abuse is fine and a good rape is how you end a date. And women who accept it.
